Oak plaines saved my child’s life. Literally. She had so much testing done that primary doctors don’t do. It helped to determine what meds suite her best and showed other deficiencies which contributed to poor behavior. She is a new kid. She’s smiling, laughing, enjoying life. I’m will be forever grateful 🫶🏻

I was in oak plains year 2020 or 2021 I was 13 or 14 a this time when I attempted to runaway twice at least and was caught but the abuse they got away with was very was serious their was a staff member who threatened me by saying "I won't move my elbow away from your throat till you stop struggling out of the hold". I couldn't breathe as it was because of the adults having me in a hold from running away with four staff on me two on my legs and two on my arms I was beyond terrified for my life plus i was in the middle of the road but then they moved me to the grass and still I wasnt able to get out of the hold and hated that it happened even more and to be honest it feels freeing to able to finally say that this place is no place for any child. I don't Care what anyone says the doctor even told me I would be there in their hospital for years because I "apparently was refusing treatment when that wasn't true whatsoever" | ended up being there for 6 to 7 months. Instead of the 3 to 4 they said it would be from the beginning. I'm still struggling and I have nightmares of some of it still but I don't even talk about it because I rather not worry no one but it still haunts me and any hospital huants me. What was worse was when younger kids runway and went to the farmers area he would shoot anyone in his yard so the sounds of the shotgun are ringing in my ears still. I remember when the sprinklers went off because a kid knocked it off and in the middle of night so she could escape and the place was filling with ankle deep almost water worst thing ever to have happened thought we were going to drown. Also the staff didn't monitor us or watch us like they say they do. Many times I wondered off without being seen. The staff would yell, hit or allow the other kids to hit each other. They would just watch. I had this girl throw a textbook at me and she would ruin everything I owned to the point I had no clothes or anything because it all got put into a closet cause the gril I shared a room with would ruin my things and the staff did nothing no punishment just saying its cause she wasnt given her meds yet. Then once I turned 15 I was too old to be in the same room with a 11 yr old which she should have never been around kids ages between 13-18 unit for girls. The staff would allow this 11yr old to be with the older kids because she would constantly beat up the little kids for no reason. Please protect and care about your kids and DON'T SEND THEM HERE PLEASE.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to receive care without leaving their home, workplace, and community. Clients typically receive intensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Many programs promote clients' long-term sobriety through recovery-focused life skills training and ancillary services, such as peer coaching. Medication assisted treatment (MAT), including medication induction and maintenance, are common in outpatient care. Most facilities offer multiple levels of care to accommodate clients' evolving needs, including intensive outpatient (IOP) and standard outpatient programming.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Safe detox requires 24-hour clinical care in Tennessee. This is due to the health risks that are involved during withdrawal. As the brain reacts to the absence of the drug, severe symptoms can occur, depending on the type of drug used. For instance, alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal may result in seizures. Fortunately, supervised care in a clinical setting can provide the necessary treatment to avoid health risks and allow you to complete detox safely.

The goal of a drug intervention in Tennessee is to encourage a person with a substance use disorder to enter treatment. The process also educates family members about addiction, enabling behaviors, and treatment options. The involvement of intervention services can help with this education and provide guidance for the intervention itself and follow-up care. The professional interventionist will work with the entire family to encourage the best outcomes possible from the intervention.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Recreational therapy supports addiction recovery by giving you structured activities that promote physical and mental health. These help build a supportive network of your peers that promotes sobriety. Activities can include sports, creative arts, and outdoor adventures that help you reduce cravings, manage stress, and give you an emotional outlet.

Life skills training teaches you how to cope with challenging situations in non destructive ways. This crucial piece of drug rehab in Tennessee gives you tools for decision making, relationship building, and self care.

Typical cognitive behavioral therapy in Tennessee involves recognizing negative thinking and learning techniques to change that thinking and create new, positive behaviors. Strategies may include SMART goals, journaling, and situation exposure.

Counseling in Tennessee that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach can last from six to 12 months. During that time, you'll develop skills in the areas of distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

If you participate in motivational interviewing in Tennessee, your therapist will focus on four key strategies: open questions, affirmation, reflections, and summarizing. Rather than confront or warn you to change, the clinician will allow you to explore your own motivations and decide what changes you may need to make in your life.

They were very disrespectful this place did not help me. And please get ms glass fired as soon as possible. They didn't even let my mom know what was happening when I overdosed on my Lithium and almost died from it. So I would not recommend this place for your child.

My experience as a Former patient. Oak Plains Academy is a central for bullying, mental and physical abuse, Fighting, abuse of power and overall torture. I for one Experience stomach issues and my time I hope planes I was severely neglected of correct medication and care. Not to mention the feminine Hygiene resources for certain health reasons I cannot use menstrual pads Therefore, I use tampons. I was neglected of those. The therapists Are condescending and rude, As well as most of the staff, there was a cafeteria worker who was genuinely the sweetest And that was The only pleasant person and part of my stay. Initially, when I was admitted to Oak Plains, the woman admitting me Stated to my guardian that I would “cry and complain” However, she should overlook it because it “ Happens to all the kids upon admission” Why did she warn my guardian about This you may ask? Because she of all people would know that it is a place of pure Agony and pain. Do NOT, I repeat do NOT send your child here unless you want them to come back with trauma and PTSD Or you don’t want them to come back at all.

My experience with Oak Plains Academy was one of the most disturbing situations regarding my child’s safety and care I have ever dealt with. A situation that should have been handled therapeutically was escalated into what was portrayed as a severe psychiatric emergency. Instead of using appropriately trained mental health professionals to assist in the transportation of my child, the facility involved local law enforcement to remove a vulnerable child from treatment. Transporting her almost two hours hysterical and handcuffed to the hospital. In my opinion, the response was reckless, unnecessary, and completely inappropriate for a mental health setting that claims to specialize in caring for at-risk youth. Even more concerning, I was not immediately informed about what was happening. Critical information regarding the removal and status of my child was withheld for hours, preventing me from advocating during an active mental health crisis. After evaluation by outside medical providers at Vanderbilt Clarksville, recommendations were reportedly made supporting a return to treatment. Despite this, Oak Plains Academy refused reentry and effectively abandoned continuity of care during an extremely vulnerable moment. The facility has refused to provide me with a clear and detailed factual breakdown of the events surrounding the removal, including the specific justification for involving law enforcement, the exact sequence of events, and the full medical recommendations and documentation used to support their decisions. I have sought transparency and accountability but have instead been met with vague explanations and limited information. The consequences of these decisions were devastating. A child in crisis was left without stability, without proper support, and facing additional barriers to receiving further residential or acute treatment afterward. Parents should ask very direct questions before trusting this facility with their child: • Under what circumstances law enforcement is used instead of trained crisis professionals • Whether parents are immediately notified during emergencies • How discharge decisions are actually made • Whether outside medical recommendations are respected • What protections exist to prevent abrupt removal during psychiatric crises • Whether families are provided complete documentation and factual incident reports This facility may have caused my daughter further treatment options due to conflicting opinions. Word enough this facility may cost me my child’s life. Research residential treatment, it is a child mill designed for profit not therapy. Ask yourself why I had to speak to the CEO regarding my concerns and not the medical provider that put her out of the facility.
