About Oceans Behavioral Hospital Longview

Their intensive outpatient program offers individualized care for clients completing treatment while living at home. You can attend up to four weekly three hour sessions, incorporating individual, group, and family therapy. Additionally, they provide medication education and management, relapse prevention training, discharge planning, and ongoing support.

What stands out most to me about them is their emphasis on personalized care. They understand that what works for someone else in recovery may not work for you. You’ll be able to identify your treatment goals and have the support and encouragement to achieve them.

It’s also great that they have separate programs for youth and adults. This further enhances individualized care as the factors contributing to addiction and appropriate services can vary in these populations. Age specific programs can also motivate you in treatment and create a space where you feel more understood.

So bad, wanted to leave soon after arriving! Not enough space to tell all that was wrong. Told social worker why I wanted to leave as soon as I could get family to pick me up. Do not go there! They do not care for patients. I tried to get medicine for diarrhea. Told to sit down!!! No running water in faucet in my bathroom sink.

They can't tell you anything about the patient without the patient number. You can't get the patient number because nobody that can give you the number will answer the phone. After I found out she was still there I tried to make a visit but all visits must be scheduled a day in advance. That means I can't come back for a week at least. I am unimpressed with this not very good start.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I was sent to Oceans. I was told I would spend 2 to 3 days there no longer. I ended up having to spend 5 days. It was the worse 5 days experience of my life. You are to see a personalized counselor twice a day. I never saw mine or even knew a name. I asked 10 other people an ... Read More

I loved this. They took such good care of my dad. He was really having a hard time and every time I visited I knew he was doing better. The kept me included in his care, and I was checked on as well. They helped my dad when his nursing home wouldn’t!

This is a great place for seeking help with mental health. I've seen some one star reviews. Unfortunately, there will be those who don't like you. And those are the ones super motivated to post a review. You may have 98% satisfaction rating. But if only unhappy people give a review, it doesn't reflect the true quality of a place. I have gotten to know the CEO, and he has a true heart for helping those struggling with mental health. He sets the bar high at Ocean's. I highly recommend this facility.

I would never recommend this "hospital". My relative waited for at least 4 hours to get a room and was never evaluated by a nurse after admission. ( They were very attentive in the waiting room while I was there but she said she was ignored sfter I left). My relative came home worse than when she went in. She was suicidal the day she was discharged. Nurse Sherry said that was not true but I was listening to my relative, here at our home minutes after she came home, as I was speaking to this "nurse". The nurses and techs were abusive to her and she said they were even more abusive to the older patients with Dementia and/or in wheelchairs. They were very prejudiced toward the white patients, she told me. She told me the one bathroom they could use during the day (they are locked out of their bedrooms during the day) was filthy covered in urine and feces. Her shower, in her room, did not work for 6 days and there was just a trickle of water in the sink. Her room was not cleaned. The staff took her clothes and gave to other patients. The food was awful and if you asked for seasoning, the techs yelled at the patients and said for them to make do...they were too busy, talking on their phones, to help anyone with anything. The staff blocked the only window you could speak through to get nurse's attention. Patients were yelled at constantly. The staff said they hated their jobs and had no training prior to going to work. My relative had discharge planning by social workers. She found out she was going to be discharged when techs came in around 400am and started packing her clothes. She was told a "bus" would take her home but no one bothered to call us, the family until much later. She didn't have a key to get into our house and they did not check to see if anyone would be home. Pitiful, awful care at best. Cruel, mean spirited staff. They should be inspected by Medicare, Medicaid and closed down. I will do my best to contact these 2 payers to see this happens. Well, today, Wednesday, Oceans in Longview called my relative. Of course, she said she was not doing well. Same thing we told them since Monday. But, guess what? They called the police for a wellness check!!! How ironic that this place that is so cruel and treated her so badly now sends police. The police should go to Oceans ànd see the horrible conditions and staff they have. We agreed with police she needed to be admitted but it will be a freezing day in hell before Oceans ever gets her back. The brazen nerve of this place is amazing and it should be closed. They did not care Monday or Tuesday how she was, just when Oceans owner read my review. It is called covering your behind. To the owner, I would not believe anything you have to say. The above statements are protected by free speech and my opinions of Oceans. People beware.

Ocean’s in Longview has been a deeply disappointing experience for my family. It feels like instead of truly helping patients, the focus is just on medication without real care or compassion. No one should feel like their loved one isn’t being genuinely supported during such a vulnerable time. I sincerely hope this facility takes a hard look at its practices and that the staff grow in both professionalism and empathy. I’m keeping this place in my prayers, asking that real change happens—for the sake of every patient and family who walks through those doors.
