Im giving 2 stars as my husband is in there. I have requested Dr to call me twice. Haven't heard a word from one and he's been there since Monday. Im confused..depressed and having trouble functioning. The worry is tearing apart. I was crushed having to do this but another place sent him here. I don't know anything about his treatment to get him well.

This is by far the worst behavior health center I have ever seen, I’ve call up there numerous of time requesting my son to give a call back but the message never gets to him , when asked to speak to nurse or doctor they’re always busy and says they will give you a call back concerning your matter but never reach back out. it all about money and not about the patients. When pulled into a room to have a private room to have a conversation my conversation was leaked out within the while building. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

this place was so horrid i had to leave a review, the food was ass you barely ate they forced us to watch movies 24/7 and wouldnt let us play with the hundreds of board games they had, it was always freeing n they didnt let the girls and boys sit next to each other or let the girls wear shorts. they had no groups therapy if you can even call it that, they once told us to draw an island then a boat or someone was yelling about there problems non stop, we went outside like once for about 5 minutes half the showers where broken and the staff was oddly distant and seams as if they didnt care or have any concerns for you. they tell you dont look at the reviews on google for obvious reasons

Accepted Insurance

River Place Behavioral Health Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

If you are struggling with motivation to change, motivational interviewing is designed to help. This method typically involves one or two sessions with a therapist. The technique helps you understand your motivations and empowers you to make changes to reach your goals.

In Louisiana, trauma therapy helps you explore the impact that a traumatic event has had on your life. You can experience emotional and physical responses if you witness or experience a traumatic event. Your therapist guides you in processing the trauma and then developing coping strategies that improve your quality of life.

Couples therapy focuses on helping the couple develop skills that will improve the relationship. These include communication, conflict resolution, and anger management. Couples also identify dysfunctional behaviors and work to eliminate them.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

0 stars! My son was DETAINED there for over the 7 day requirement, even though he came in with non-suicidal issues. The staff have been atrocious. He was having a medical crisis and the nurses completely ignored his violent symptoms. His social worker/councilor laughed when he shared his personal traumas. I was unable to get in contact with his Dr, social worker, and the patient advocate to understand the process, progress being made, and find better ways to support my child. I also feel that they continued to document false behaviors (in reports I have been unable to access) in order to bill our insurance company, even though I've made it clear that we are unable to pay our portion. This place is filthy and keeps drug addicts and violent patients in with regular patients. NEVER allow your family to go here. They will take advantage; put lives at risk; verbally, emotionally, and physically abuse patients, and do more harm than good.

I am absolutely disgusted with the way my father was treated at this so-called "behavioral health clinic." The nurses were beyond unprofessional, and their behavior was appalling. Instead of offering help or compassion, they treated my father like a burden. Many times when he asked for assistance, he was met with sarcasm and condescending remarks, making an already difficult situation even worse. It felt like the entire clinic was more focused on collecting money for Ochsner than actually providing any care. I’ve never felt so gaslit in my life—every time I tried to address concerns or ask questions, I was dismissed or made to feel like I was the problem. This place is far from a healing environment; it’s a money grab disguised as healthcare. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. To make matters worse, when my father wanted to sleep, a nurse would come in and wake him up for no reason. When he would call us back at home, I would hear someone yelling at him and then hanging up the phone. They didn’t want him to call us because they didn’t want us to find out what was really going on. Every time I spoke to the nurses, they reassured us that everything was okay and that my father was being taken care of. But when I would speak to my father, he told us the complete opposite. This is not how patients should be treated, especially when they’re in a vulnerable state. I honestly have a mixed review. The doctors were very compassionate and genuinely wanted to help, but unfortunately, the majority of the nurses were not. I hope to God this place gets investigated and that their policies change. This review will probably mean nothing to them, but to everyone who will read this, please reconsider your choices before you trust this place with your or your loved one’s care.

I was recently discharged from this facility. This facility has some nice workers but some are just there to get paid. I understand it’s a job for them but they are placed there to help the people in need of mental help. Also the “group therapy” isn’t group therapy at all it’s just the nurses on their phones. This place isn’t for people who want to better their mental illnesses or health issues. It’s almost worse than jail

THIS PLACE SUCKS, I was there for a week and it was the worst week of my life. Staff is rude, food is nasty, and the pillows are super thin. I wouldn't put my worst enemy in this place. The kids were nice tho, most of them were only in there because they had family/parent issues.

I came to this place the 19th of December 2024. It was a nice facility! They treated me with respect and compassion. The techs/nurses played bingo with us, we did arts and crafts, they took us outside for fresh air, they were all for the most part very professional and caring! A few people stood out to me. I was on the quiet wing and made friends while I was there. I am so very thankful for the staff at this place!!!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. We work hard to ensure that we remain a trusted source of quality service within a safe and welcoming environment. <br>
