Posting under a pseudonym so I'm mostly unrecognizable. Unless the staff that I had see it, they will know exactly who I am! Also known to them as "*sigh* that one". My experience at sun behavioral health was terrible and do not recommend them at all unless absolutely medically necessary. Someone needs to absolutely look into this place and the staff members here!! Throughout my week stay back in January of this year was probably the worst experience of my entire life. I was ridiculed by the staff members and also by others staying within my little department (or whatever it is called!). It seemed to me almost as if they put people intentionally into my area that were not actual mental health patients to ridicule me throughout my entire stay. They would call fake people and everything! I don't really know how to explain it, but they would have people talking at all hours on the phone to "false" people. It was like talking to siri almost? The staff were incredibly rude and inconsiderate throughout my stay. They would roll their eyes, bat their eyes in a ridiculing manor, and even refused to wash any clothing items I would leave for them. The people passing out the prescribed meds did so without any gloves, proceeded to drop my medication on the floor (almost intentionally) wipe it off on their shirt and give me the pill sometimes without offering water or even putting it in a cup like they were supposed to. They would say oops! Then just hand me the pill in my hand. This happened on multiple occasions, not just once. They also would randomly start flickering the lights in the main lobby area and same thing with the "roommate" that I also believe was another person they intentionally told to taunt me. They did this to taunt and insult me in anyway possible. They did not like me because I previously had a stay in December where I was mentally unstable and I believe through things I said that were truly happening people may have investigated the situation at hand. Either way, I was treated lower than any person EVER should be treated during my stay. It was incredibly cruel and downright disrespectful and downgrading to me as a human being. I know a lot of the people would also make fun of me for being unable to see my son! Which was the hardest part and was honestly pretty traumatizing. This was all because I was transported from St Elizabeth to their facility and they did not want to deal with me. They obviously had an assumption that I would be too " unstable"to remember any of the abuse that happened to me there or just wanted to make sure I never came back. Either way, I will happily never be coming back for a visit. I would recommend going to anywhere else besides this place if you can, good luck! I will forever be traumatized by this unfortunate event in my life. They are completely unprofessional here and cause more harm than good in my opinion. Also forgot to mention, I was brought up items by family members: coloring pages (they threw away intentionally), blankets (finally received after my stay by begging them for it!), pillows (never got and they kept). Overall if I could give y'all a worse rating I absolutely would. Understandably, I know pillows and blankets are not permitted to actually be given during your stay there, but I should have at least received them after my visit. I was told the items were "lost" and unable to be found. I know a lot of it sounds unbelievable, especially coming from someone who had a mental health crisis, but believe me, I wish I was making it up because it would be SO much easier to forget that it ever happened!! Stay aware!

I went for some empty nest therapy literally the quote the group therapist used there. They held me hostage and tried to commit me. My husband had to help me and we had to prove my doctor said I was no harm to myself or anyone I just wanted some therapy like a ton of women over 40 figuring out life. THEY LITERALLY TRIED TO COMMIT ME! I saw the most egregious misuse of healthcare and mental health care on the admittance side. On the opposite side, the outpatient side, the psychiatrist, social worker, and counselor were incredible! The group therapy is just not for me. It is absolutely for people in recovery. It is absolutely for people who have severe health problems on the outpatient side, but it is absolutely not for me. Not only that, the fact that I came back for the group therapy to try to get the therapy after you guys tried to commit me and then you tried again when I was letting you know I enjoyed the goup therapy people but not the actual group therapy try to convince me to stay one day. You clearly make money on the inpatient side. You clearly have no one's mental health in mind absolutely disgusting. I am so lucky that I was not suffering and I had the right mind to be able to pull up my MyChart. After you tried to confiscate my cellular device and show you what my doctor really said right in front of you as you lied to my face. You could have caused severe mental damage to me and you just care about a dollar. I am so glad to have found the right counselor to talk to about my hormones and my empty nest. Please. Please don't ever send a family member here. You told me that I would not post a review because most people don't want someone to know they've been in there well. Guess what baby I wasn't and I'm not afraid.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

SUN Behavioral Health Kentucky works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Intensive levels of rehab involve 24-hour clinical care in Kentucky. This level of care is for those who have severe substance use disorders and need medical stabilization. Drug dependency can cause extreme withdrawal symptoms when the drug use stops, so this supervised care is necessary to treat those symptoms. Treatment involves 24-hour medical care, counseling, and medications.

Inpatient rehab is designed primarily for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those in crisis situations that may increase their risk of relapse. Clients reside at the inpatient treatment center for the length of the program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Inpatient treatment typically includes 24-hour clinical care and extensive addiction counseling and recovery education using CBT, DBT, RBT, motivational interviewing or other psychotherapeutic approaches.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) specialize in high-level care for clients requiring robust support. This includes those in early recovery, those in crisis, and those stepping down from inpatient care. Clients typically participate in a minimum of nine treatment hours per week, but many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 hours of service weekly. Their primary treatment modalities generally combine psychotherapy and recovery education. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) for alcohol and/or opioid recovery is widely available.

Outpatient rehabs enable clients to integrate addiction treatment into their daily lives. Clients typically continue to work and reside at home, but may engage in daily therapeutic sessions, depending on need. Outpatient treatment generally involves individual, group, and/or family therapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and a variety of ancillary services, such as career counseling or vocational training. Outpatient rehabs often encompass multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living, and standard outpatient.

Medical detox is the process of weaning your body off addictive substances in a medically supervised environment. An on-site medical team may include physicians, nurses, therapists, and other clinical staff whose job it is to monitor your vitals and provide medications if necessary to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. Their goal is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible throughout the process.. Medically assisted detox programs are individualized to meet your specific needs and can vary in length, but they tend to last 5-7 days.

Treatments

Alcoholism is a term used to describe a level of drinking that causes harm to a person's health. Also known as alcohol addiction or alcohol use disorder (AUD), the dependency involves a strong, often uncontrollable urge to drink. This condition is treatable through alcohol rehab in Kentucky. Programs typically involve supervised detox, behavioral treatments, medications, and mutual-support groups.

Drug rehab in Kentucky often starts with detox, then includes inpatient or outpatient treatment, and continues with aftercare support. Specific methods used during each of these phases varies, but often include individual and group counseling, medication, and recreational therapies.

In Kentucky, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs prioritize comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Levels of care include residential rehab, detox, and intensive outpatient programs. Interventions like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy, therapy, education and family counseling treat both mental health conditions at the same time. The benefits of dual-diagnosis treatment are enhanced outcomes, improved health, and they provide you with the skills to maintain your sobriety and manage your mental health.

mental-health iconMental Health And Substance Abuse

In Kentucky, comprehensive substance abuse treatment programs are available to address addiction and any co-occurring mental health disorders. Typically, treatment programs offer various levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization. Treatment activities include individual and group therapy, recovery support meetings, evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and psychoeducation. By the end of treatment you will have the resources and supportive recovery community to sustain long-term mental health and sobriety.

Programs

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Kentucky involves learning to recognize unhealthy thinking patterns and developing problem solving skills to cope with life's challenges. It will help you have greater confidence in your abilities so you can change your patterns of behavior and break free from substance abuse.

In individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction, the therapist and patient work together to address the challenges and triggers that drive addictive behavior. This offers a customized approach to a healthier, substance free life.

Men and women in Kentucky participating in group therapy learn to express their feelings and struggles with drug addiction in a non judgmental atmosphere. Your peers can offer you empathy and encouragement because they understand your journey to recovery. This fosters a sense of community and belonging that may extend far after group therapy sessions.

Life skills equip you to obtain and maintain employment, establish healthy relationships, develop a healthy daily routine, manage your finances, and practice self care. Because these are an important part of successful recovery, life skills training should be an integral part of your rehab in Kentucky.

Holistic alcohol and drug addiction treatment centers use recreational therapy to help you find a constructive way to spend your time and manage your stress. Activities can include yoga, team sports, creative arts, and painting. These encourage social interaction, support your physical fitness, and improve your mood, all of which are crucial for maintaining a successful recovery.

Great place to learn and find others alike to create strong bonds and prepare for your new future. This place can get overwhelming, but it’s where you need to be if you want to keep moving forward. Life’s a garden, dig it. Shout out to nurse Skylar, I know you’re still running those crazy 8 mile mornings in under a hour 😑. The staff here is great especially for what they have to do everyday.

Response from the owner
