have a knot that needs to be lanced and squeezed out , I have squeezed stuff out already. I go in and they at first didn't want to do it. didn't remove the light scab to access the problem at surface level, no jumping agent, then barely cut it open and squeezed it like I'm 4 years old... I paid out of pocket for less than I have been able to do myself. I would have been better off with a doctor non zoom walkingme through it. pay the money and go somewhere else. everyone else was great but the help I needed was of course "a prescription antibiotic" smh this is exactly what I didnt need. if it isn't a drug, they don't know how to do it.

Accepted Insurance

UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

As a flexible option, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is tailored for those who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment can include daily therapeutic sessions and services such as relapse prevention and medication management. Based on your needs, PHP treatment duration can average 90 days and require a minimum of 20 hours of commitment weekly. While a partial hospitalization program typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Alcohol use disorder (alcoholism) can be severe, moderate, or mild. Symptoms include spending a lot of time drinking, wanting to stop but being unsuccessful, and feeling strong cravings that lead to overuse of alcohol. At any severity level, alcohol addiction is treatable through alcohol rehab in Illinois. Most comprehensive rehab programs include medical detox, inpatient rehab, and ongoing alcohol counseling/support (maintenance).

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Illinois typically involves keeping a diary to track actions and emotions. Your therapist will use this diary to determine what to focus on during each session. In addition to individual sessions, you'll also attend group meetings where you are trained in coping skills.

I was there last night for sharp, radiating chest pain, dizziness, lightheaded, difficulty breathing and nauseous. I was at the 4 hour mark and was still in the waiting room. Other people were seen before me that were there well after I showed up. I will never return to SAH again and will proceed to other hospitals.

This experience was so upsetting that it took me over a month to be able to fully understand what happened. Without getting into the details about my health, I had, what I thought, was a cardiac episode at my sister's house. I refused treatment for a while but it was getting worse. The ambulance team suggested I seek further treatment asap. Reluctantly, I agreed. I received 3 nitro tabs in the ambulance. Probably the best care I received in the next 7 hours. Upon arrival to the ED the desk staff just stared at us and told the ambulance driver they didn't call in correctly. So they had to put me in a wheelchair in the hallway as they were yelled at by a staff member. I continued to sit in the hallway with 8/10 chest pain and pressure. The worst part was my speech was getting difficult and I became very light sensitive. Nobody checked on me until I was wheeled into a triage room about 45 minutes later. I know the time is correct because after I was sitting in the triage room by myself for quite some time, my husband came in from northwest Indiana....I was still having chest pain. I had labs drawn and a chest x ray. Eventually I was put on to a gurnee and placed in a room. Chest pain eventually resolved. A NP came in and told me I wasn't having a heart attack because my troponins were normal and they were going to discharge me. I still could not walk or see straight and my speech was very slow and difficult. I was reluctant to leave but I knew nothing was going to happen while I was there. I am so sorry that this was such a horrible experience because that means other people are having this same experience. This was very traumatizing in many ways. The start of something that has gone undetected for so long and the feeling of being shunned by medical staff. Completely ignored in every aspect. I do hope that something will be said and done with this review. In a way, they need to know that their care is reflective on more levels than just another number coming into their ED on a Saturday night. I can guarantee not a single one of that staff would ever want someone they care about to ever be treated in the same way I was treated, I know that for sure.

Orthopedic department. Total care handled by a temperamental Nurse Practitioner. No clarification of details of my condition. No explanation of types of treatment. Simply said "let's go with the surgery, asked what date i was available, said, "See you then" and left. Nurse had no further info either. I cancelled and went elsewhere. It's been everything that Swedes was not.

Admittedly busy but clearly not enough medical staff to move patients through. Many left before treatment. We are still waiting after 7 and a half hours. I don't have high expectations in any ER but this is very poorly managed.

If you care about your health or your family’s health do NOT go to Swedish American Hospital unless you like to get untreated for hours and poor treatment from some of the staff. Take that hour drive to UW Madison Hospital. Swedish American Hospital deserves 0 stars and needs to be audited and restored with a new medical culture that will help people in need.

If I could give a negative star I would they are the worst went in because I have heart issues and been having chest pain on the left never seen a dr put me in a room got blood work would not even tell me what was going on then to listen to these nurses talk shit on people and treat them horribly they where even bragging to each other about how they where not getting someone out the bed to even go to the restroom this place should be shut down. The nurses wanna talk about mercy at least they don’t leave people in there own mess and actually help people and tell them what test are being done. State needs to shut this place down asap. I would rather die at home then go to any doctors here the worst. On top of that the nurse just ripped out my iv and sent me home like this
