About Ashland and McMillen Home
The Ashland Home, located in Laguna Hills, California, offers sober living arrangements for adult women struggling with alcohol use. Women can stay at the Ashland Home for up to 30 days to get sober and prepare for long-term recovery from alcohol use. Volunteers offer peer support. Residents also receive meals, a place to live, and other support services.
After 30 days, Ashland Home residents can move into one of the network’s sober living homes for up to a year. In this process, women may receive individual, family, and group counseling; recovery education; and opportunities for community service.
The initial 30-day stay at the Ashland Home is free of charge. Residents may be referred to additional services, such as alcohol or drug rehab, that accept private insurance plans such as Aetna, United Healthcare, Beacon, Cigna, Humana, Magellan Health, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Every insurance plan is unique, so be sure to contact your insurer to verify out-of-network benefits and coverage information.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
Alcoholism, or alcohol use disorder (AUD), is defined by alcohol dependence. This is a state the body reaches when it experiences withdrawal symptoms in the absence of alcohol. A person who has AUD craves alcohol and continues to drink despite adverse consequences. Because withdrawing from alcohol can pose health risks, individuals with AUD should seek professional alcohol rehab in California to overcome their alcohol addiction. This process typically involves medical detox, rehabilitation, and maintenance.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
