About Elliot Hospital

When you’re admitted, you’ll have inpatient or outpatient services, depending on your needs. You’ll be assigned a case management team that consists of nurses, therapists and social workers so your symptoms and underlying causes can be addressed. Meds can be used to ease your withdrawal pains and prevent relapse.

One speciality program is MOM. This stands for maternal opioid misuse and is intended for pregnant women who have Medicaid. You’ll have two years of postpartum care which includes nutrition planning, social services for housing and basic necessities and health services. There’s a peer support program to help lend you support.

Another speciality is their program for children 12 and under. This behavioral program can help your kids if they have problems in school or at home. They can assess your family medical history, diagnose any conditions and recommend treatment.

Got to the ER at 2:30pm, around 6pm i asked how much longer we could expect, they said they were waiting for beds to open. Around 8:30pm i asked again how much longer and they said they dont know they need beds to open up, then around 10pm we asked again and they said they were still waiting for beds to open up, i asked if we were next to get a bed and they said no there are a few people ahead of you. We had to leave because we could not handle that wait any longer and went to another ER. I understand that things can happen, but waiting 8 hours to not see a doctor or even get an update on whats going on is ridiculous.

Wait times are freaking horrible. I went in with my son who is having stomach issues possibly having an appendix bursting and they had us wait for over an hour in the waiting room. Honestly, for a child I feel like that’s very unacceptable. Not to mention, their financial aid department is a joke, I applied for financial aid and definitely don’t make a lot of money, and they denied me saying that we made too much. However, Exeter hospital, gave us full 100% financial aid on our last hospital bill and we still make the same amount that we did before. Make it make sense

My husband was there for cellulitis and he had to get antibodics by intravenous, he was there for 4 days . He also has severe COPD. He uses trelegy but the hospital doesn’t use that, they wouldn’t let him use his medications but to use theirs, which made it worse for him. He left the hospital feeling a lot worse then when he arrived. The respiratory person was rude and kept arguing with him. He is on oxygen for 24/7 and he knows what medication he needs. They hooked up his oxygen the wrong way on the c pack machine and the oxygen was blowing out the side of the mask instead of his nose. Not sure what happened to Elliot but they have gone down hill!

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) offer high-level transitional support for clients exiting inpatient rehab. They can also be effective for clients at significant relapse risk Intensive outpatient treatment typically involves between nine and 20 hours of care per week, with the frequency and intensity of treatment decreasing as clients progress in their recovery. Most IOP clients participate in a combination of psychotherapy, recovery education, holistic therapies, and, for some, medication assisted treatment (MAT).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

If you need short-term intensive rehabilitation care that allows you to return home at the end of the day, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is the ideal solution. PHP provides structured programming that typically includes therapeutic services, relapse prevention, and medication management. Typically, treatment can run between 3-5 days a week for an average of 90 days. The cost for a partial hospitalization program can vary, but is often covered by providers.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Went here last year after being in a car accident and had to get glass removed/stitches. The woman who clearly did a screwy job removing the glass out of my face missed a huge piece above my eyebrow, which I did not find until THIS YEAR. I had to go to the ER because it got so painful to make sure it wasn't something worse. To my surprise, it was glass that had been there for over a year, yet I was required to pay in full. What would have happened if it got infected?? Blatant medical malpractice to say the least. I would've gone to Exeter if it was up to me, but this is the hospital I was taken to.

Slowest most unorganized hospital ever. Went on four hours in the EMERGENCY room. Key word EMERGENCY. Without seeing a doctor. They let throw up from a child stay on the floor for over half an hour. We’re calling people that weren’t there. Every nurse I did see was quite rude. I was wincing in pain in their ER with 9/10 pain and they didn’t do anything after time and time again to just get me to see someone. Awful. I’d rather drive further to never go to this disaster of a hospital. They were that inept that I had to leave an go to another hospital.

I’m an LNA and travel with patients to appointments at the Elliot frequently. It’s always a pleasure to see Liliana at front reception. She is so kind and helpful ! All the staff are very compassionate and hold the elevator or move aside for the wheelchair. It’s a great environment overall.

Imagine waiting for a call whilst being held in a mental health unit here (in which you are unable to use a personal phone) only to never receive the call because every single one Elliot Hospital related phone number is not picking up? I've been trying for about 45 minutes. No option for a call back either. Think twice before checking yourself in or letting yourself be admitted here because you might have to spend the day staring at a wall without being able to hear from loved ones while experiencing a crisis. Do better.
