About Graceful Recovery
Graceful Recovery in Kennebunk, Maine, was owned and operated by Dr. Meredith Norris. She offered substance use treatment with a special focus on heroin and opioids due to the number of overdoses in Maine.
Because of MaineCare regulations, clients could not receive free appointments, but the doctor charged a small amount to uninsured patients. She treated patients based on what they could afford, including taking care when prescribing medications that wouldn’t be available long term as needed.
Treatments and Services
Clients received medication assisted treatment using FDA cleared prescriptions for methadone and suboxone. With prescribed medications, clients were counseled for substance use and attended therapy groups with their peers.
Dr. Norris was eager to speak with families and explain their loved ones’ treatment and the disease of substance use disorders. She also worked closely with probation officers for her justice involved clients.
Additional Specialties and Services
Because she was certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine and the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians, she also provided services for pain and obesity. The three components of treatment commonly used were osteopathy, pharmacology and empathy.
