I have been trying to get help from this place for months, my first appointment was with a case manager to help me get insurance and she told me I basically had to figure it out on my own and if I came back without insurance again I would be charged. I had another appointment sometime after that that got cancelled because of my insurance before I even got there. Fast forward to this last week, I finally have insurance (without their help) and I scheduled an appointment, had some ride problems and called to reschedule it and then had to call back to disregard rescheduling it (the person I spoke to about this whole situation last night was understanding and said I d be ok.) The appointment time came and my ride was on the way when they called me to tell me they cancelled the appointment. I wish I knew who I spoke to so this review could name this person and they can be talked to, but I didn t catch her name. I called back trying to see if there were any other appointments today since it was an intake and could be with anyone and the woman was immediately rude and said I was too late to get an appointment today and when I tried to calmly explain what happened she got more frustrated and said she can t give me that appointment. I was fine with not having the same appointment, I told her I just wanted to see someone and get help. After another minute or two of this back and forth I finally got frustrated and said I m trying to be nice, I understand I can t have the same appointment, I m just asking to schedule any appointment at this point, I just want help. She hung up on me.I am looking for other options but this is the only location nearby that accepts my insurance, so even after the first two times getting turned away I had decided to try with them again when today happened. Please don t waste your time here if you re really wanting help.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Hegira's Mental Health and Substance Abuse Outpatient Treatment Programs offer a variety of services designed to meet the unique needs of each child, adult or family. Services include assessment and evaluation, referral to external resources, crisis resolution, short-term traditional treatment, and long-term management of chronic conditions.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are highly structured and focused service programs for adults and teens with substance abuse problems and/or co-occurring substance abuse and mental health problems. HPI's experienced IOP teams work together to ensure that assessments and treatment approaches are comprehensive and individualized. Team interventions focus on understanding the disease of addiction, effective relapse prevention planning and development of a healthy, satisfying substance-free lifestyle.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Addiction often involves intense situations and emotions. Dialectical behavior therapy helps you understand and regulate your emotions and better manage the situations that evoke those feelings. You'll receive mindfulness training and stress management training to cope more effectively with difficult emotions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

HPI provides strength-based, family oriented services for children, adolescents and young adults, ages 0 through 21, with serious emotional disturbances at our children's specialty clinic in Westland. This clinic offers a variety of services designed to meet the unique needs of children and their families/caregivers who are challenged with the management of a range of serious emotional disturbances of childhood and adolescents. Levels of care include traditional outpatient, clinic and community-based case management, home-based services and wraparound. Treatment teams work together with each child and family to ensure that assessments and treatment approaches are person-centered, strength-based, comprehensive and focused on maximizing each individual's potential.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Quitting smoking is tough without the proper support. A good quit plan often includes nicotine replacement therapy. These products allow your body to adjust to a lack of nicotine, so you experience fewer cravings and less intense withdrawal symptoms.

I have been taking my (ASD) teen here for probably about a year now. We began seeing Drew for therapy, and then around 5 months ago we also started seeing Barbara the psychiatrist for an anti-depressant. Doing both, the therapy & meds together, has changed my son's life completely. He is so full of life now. He has done a complete 180! It is so great to see him HAPPY again. Getting him these services has been the best decision I could have made for him. Idk how Higera has such low ratings on here. It's a bit of a hike from where we live, but I refuse to take him anywhere else.

I haven't been a patient here in a few years, but am still unpacking trauma from my childhood that this place caused me and my family. I went from about ages 11-16. My first therapist was alright but admitted she couldn't help me and sent me to get diagnosed for autism. I was moved to a new therapist who worked with autistic kids until I had a gap year, and that's the only positives about this place. My third therapist here and both psychiatrists I've had were horrific. The third therapist would come to my home and my school to meet me twice a week for "therapy," but all she did was play Uno and pet my dogs. She may have been equipped for a younger autistic child, but I was 15-16 at this point and got nothing out of this lady. I eventually was made to feel unsafe in my own home by her the day I was going to come out to her about my then-girlfriend, when this therapist went on a rant about how same sex relationships were ungodly and disgusting. It's been seven years and I still remember how unsafe I felt with a homophobic woman in charge of my medical care in my own home with me. But I promise the psychiatrists were just as bad. The first one I saw for a few years would just go "uh huh... uh huh... uh huh..." and give me more meds. She would up my meds every six weeks, get me to the highest legal dose for a minor, and then jump me from 80mg of one medication to 10mg of another with no weaning or anything, and then act shocked when I was tweaking out. Dr. Anderson was her name and she needs her license removed imo. The second one I had, when I was 17, I was in his office with my mom explaining my night terrors to him. He clearly didn't understand what night terrors are – you are asleep during episodes of terror and screaming, and you don't remember because you're ASLEEP. He yelled at me saying I was exaggerating or lying and didn't know what I was talking about, in front of my own mother who was actually the one who brought it to my attention, since obviously I was SLEEPING. He didn't stop yelling at me even when my mom took me out of his office sobbing after being aggressively invalidated by a medical "professional" three times my age. On top of all this, this place's version of "cognitive behavioral therapy" for kids was honestly just them saying "yeah your parents sound really abusive, but how can we make it your fault? How can you fix it?" All the times they should've called CPS, and everything was made my fault or my responsibility... still not sure what they expected a 12 year old to do about it! I'm still processing all of this to this day with a therapist who actually listens to me and doesn't shove meds down my throat. I lost trust in the mental healing process for years because of this place.

If you need mental health services I would choose anywhere else but this place to get them. The most unprofessional place with rude staff. Don’t even bother!
