Terra Firma Diversion - Educational Services CA 94544

About Terra Firma Diversion

Terra Firma Diversion has been serving the California Bay Area communities for over 25 years, striving to provide a solid foundation after you have had interactions with the criminal justice system. They’re located just off Route 238 and roughly a mile from San Pablo Bay, in Hayward, California.

Criminal Justice Diversion Program

The diversion program is an alternative to the criminal justice system, helping to redirect or divert low-level drug offenses away from incarceration to help address your substance use disorder by providing you with treatment. Depending on your case, you may be eligible for the program before conviction, after which your charges would be dropped. In other cases, you will be eligible after conviction, which allows you to get treatment without incarceration.

They offer several programs that address your needs after an arrest involving drug or alcohol use. These diversion and education programs vary in length and intensity, depending on the program. The PC1000 drug diversion program is also called a Deferred Entry of Judgment program. This is a 24 week program from the County of Alameda available before conviction.

Their relapse prevention program is a minimum of 10 to 20 weeks and helps you get back on track after relapsing from a previous program. They also have a drug testing facility that offers an extensive panel of options for individuals and businesses when drug testing is necessary to identify alcohol or drug use at work.

Additional Programs Provide Greater Services

Depending on what you’re trying to overcome, they have anger management and domestic violence classes that can augment the diversion program. When court-required supervised visits are ordered, the program also provides oversight and documentation in a safe environment for the children involved. They also provide supervised exchanges where a neutral and unbiased facilitator can be present when children switch between their parents’ homes.

This place should lose their contract with Alameda county. I'm the parent that has custody of my daughter and this place is very unprofessional. They do not have the bandwidth or patience for this work and they do not get back to you when they say they will and they cannot accommodate the schedule that's on the court order. They do not have respect for parents and the lady Bertha has a really bad temper. I explained to her that I needed to schedule the visits on the date that I agreed to with the courts and she got upset saying that she didn't have anything on those specific dates. She wasn't even looking at her calendar when she stated that again very unprofessional and she was supposed to give me a call back last week and she already received payment from the other party. I had not received any call from her. She's taking people's money and not even arranging the visit they should be looked into and I would not even trust her supervise any child visit with how she's acting she needs to be reported to the state and the county needs to look into their business practices before referring more families to them. We need to figure out how to share a contact information with each other and come together with Alameda county so that we can push this information forward the right way.

I am truly shocked that a place like Tera Firma is still allowed to operate. It’s heartbreaking to see that other parents share the same frustrations I’ve faced. The staff’s behavior is beyond disappointing – they are rude and unprofessional, and seem to rely on personal connections rather than providing quality care. It’s appalling that Hayward Court is permitting this establishment to continue. The person in charge of this place is incredibly difficult to work with, and her staff displays blatant bias. They seem to have little regard for helping parents create a secure, healthy environment for their children. In fact, I was horrified to see them take the side of the other parent in a court case, after knowing them for just a few hours, despite serious allegations of physical abuse against the children. If you're looking for a place where your loved one will be treated with care and respect, do yourself a favor and stay far away from here. No one is holding them accountable for their lack of standards, and it seems that only personal connections are keeping them afloat. As someone who has struggled with this situation, my advice is simple: avoid them at all costs.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.

This place is so unprofessional, don’t follow contract rules that were signed exactly like other reviews they pick what parent they prefer. They favoritism them and put everything in their favor without even knowing what danger they’re putting the kid in With their lying reports. All the reports are on mother’s favor, but they never put on the reports that mother continues to take child’s belongings, or Put the child in stressful situations like taking her belonging away bad mouthing my family when clearly on court orders Mom is not to speak of my family. Court order clearly not reviewed. yet the reports are all in her favor. None of them says that mother takes stuff away from the child. We asked for an attendance as mother has missed plenty of visit more than three weeks ago until this moment Berta has said she doesn’t have time and will give a copie when she can she sweet when court is and have given mother reports but nothing to father. Berta is rude and lying on her reports even the child has tried to get her attention when mom whispers stuff in her ear and text her stuff with her cell phone that should not be allowed per the contract signed yet They still let mother walk in there with a cell phone in her hand and uses it to text a child things she not allowed to say verbally this is so unprofessional, and because of their lying, reports the child might be sent to an unsafe place now that court is Approach.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Please please read these reviews before you consider going to this poor excuse for a business that should be helping you rather than trying to hold you back. I was given the wrong information multiple times and when I called to get the correct information, they were extremely rude and short with me. DO NOT waste your time here, go somewhere else. I wish I had taken the time to read the previous reviews.

This organization does not deserve any star rating as the staff on site is u attentive nor do they adhere to their word when speaking to separate parties. Staff does not research court orders solely listen to clients they prefer and bend rules to accommodate such. Be weary of this organization-you may not feel comfortable as soon as you step through the door.
