IF YOU ARE A VETERAN (OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER) STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! DO NOT WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME AND MONEY! I came to Akua hoping to find peace, support, and a break from the stress of the outside world. Unfortunately, once I arrived and experienced how the facility was run, I quickly felt that something wasn’t right. From the start, my gut told me this was not a safe or supportive environment for healing. Instead of feeling cared for or grounded, I felt uncomfortable and unsettled — enough that I knew I needed to leave. -The people are very unprofessional (they talk about each other in front of clients and talk about the clients too) -The facility is filthy with very little privacy and room for the number of people in the house. - The walls are so thin, you can hear everything. -They don’t enforce cleanliness -Very little structure and discipline. -You can hear the cars passing by at night…it’s hard to get any sleep -There’s little to do for down time. Most people lay in bed and watch tv. - there was not dinning table to eat on. There was only the tables outside where people smoke, or you can eat on the couch in the living room - food was unhealthy and kitchen is dirty, cluttered, and unorganized -they have nothing but junk food which is horrible for your mental health -there’s no privacy during intake and people kept coming in and out. When i asked for the male staff to leave during my intake, he began to give me attitude up until the time i left - i had an item stolen from me and once i left, they didn’t bother to look for it and lied about the situation to admin and management It was a horrible experience but I’m glad I listened to myself because the place i went to next was night and day. Send me a message if you want information, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A VETERAN!!!
