Review of Baptist Health Little Rock, ArkansasI brought my mother to Baptist Health in Little Rock, and it turned out to be a major mistake. We arrived at the ER around 9:30 PM on April 7th and, as I write this at 12:39 PM the following day, we are still waiting for a bed to be admitted upstairs.Throughout this lengthy wait, I ve observed numerous concerning issues:1. Cleanliness: The bathrooms and ER rooms are in a shocking state. The floors are dirty, trash cans are overflowing, and I even found glucose strips on the floor.2. Food Quality: The hot breakfast served to us was cold, which is hardly acceptable in a hospital setting.3. Lack of Communication: There is a serious breakdown in communication with the medical staff. (ER Nurses). They dart in and out, providing minimal information and seem dismissive, as if they re too busy to address patient concerns.4. Nasty Facilities: When offered a hospital bed to make my mother more comfortable, it was in an appalling condition. The mattress was visibly dirty, with a head print embedded in the vinyl. A nurse attempted to clean it with a Clorox wipe but made little impact.Overall, my experience at Baptist Health has been incredibly disappointing. The lack of cleanliness and communication is unacceptable for a healthcare facility. I would not recommend this place based on my experience.(See photos of dirty floors, overflowing trash can, blood glucose strip, and someone s head print embedded on nasty vinyl mattress)

Accepted Insurance

Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs ensure that clients continue to receive robust and consistent therapeutic care without requiring them to reside at the treatment center. The frequency and intensity of treatment depend on clients' evolving needs, ranging from daily to weekly addiction counseling and recovery education. Outpatient programs often include peer coaching, life skills training, and individual, group, and family counseling. Outpatient levels of care include partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living/halfway housing, and standard outpatient care.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The goal of trauma therapy is to address the lingering mental, emotional, and physical lingering effects of a traumatic event. Your therapist helps you process this trauma and build resilience to face future challenges.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

If you use substances heavily, this can interfere with your body's ability to absorb and use nutrients. This results in malnutrition and other health problems. Nutrition therapy addresses these deficiencies to support healing and recovery.

My experience as a hospitalized patient in this place was terrible, waiting times are eternal, I felt that no one cared about me, nobody from the staff asked me if I felt good or not. I would not recommend anyone to come to this place.

I am giving the 5 stars to Precious, Bree, and Briana on 7A. I have also had pleasant encounters with a couple more people on this floor so when I learn their names, I will add them. The two nurses that have been wonderful were Emma and Manpreet. Although I had some negative experiences with some, I want to make sure the ones that are kind and helpful and truly care are praised and honored. In addition to Stacey that I previously bragged on, these two ladies showed genuine care and concern to me and my mom as we are having the difficult task of watching my dad fight leukemia and Covid. These ladies led with heart and passion to not only do what was best for my dad but to show grace to me and my mom. My mom was so upset with grief over my dad and then disconcerted with how she was being treated but Bree, Precious, and Brianna saved the day. Although retired now, my mom was an RN for decades and even graduated from Baptist’s school of nursing. She knows how overworked and understaffed most nurses and techs are so we are very appreciative of all they do. But we are extremely grateful for those that choose to be kind and helpful over being dismissive and rude. Thank you again to all of you that have really stepped up over the last few days to make this nightmare less awful.

The 5 stars are for Stacey on 7A. I am here with my dad, and it’s been a very hard few days. Embarrassed to say, I had a meltdown because it felt like nobody wanted to help my dad. However, Stacey turned it all around. She has been extremely sweet, helpful, kind, and has given her heart, soul, and talent to take excellent care of my dad. In such a short time, she did multiple things for him. None of them were easy or pleasant, but she did them all with a smile. I cannot brag on her enough and I pray God blesses her abundantly! Thank you. Stacey!

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:

We deeply value hearing these stories as they inspire our commitment to providing thoughtful and meaningful experiences. Your kind words will be shared with the team to recognize Stacey's efforts. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience!

Worst Hospital in Little Rock, wife has a asthma attack on the way in and was rudely told to move from the entrance by a nurse in triage 1( Racheal) on May 25th around 3:25 forcing us to park Further away in the parking garage which my wife had a severe asthma attack passing out in the parking lot and having security wheel here in , got here checked in and was still ignored . then finally was put in a bed in the hallway. I guess emergency services means nothing these days even if you can’t breathe. . .

Do not use this hospital for yourself or anyone you love. My sister was a former patient. Some of the nurses are rude. Drs are just ok. Be aware of Dr. Bilal Sadiq. The rooms aren’t as clean as they should be. When my sister was in CCU they lost her cellphone. When the sheets were changed her phone was in it. It was sent to a laundry facility in MS. We never received it. My mom has been in communication with the lost and found dept. They told her they don’t have a timeline as to when they process claims. In addition, my mom had been calling the person of contact for weeks and he still hasn’t called her back. My sister has since passed. We would very much like to have her phone. But no one seems to care. We were warned last year by a patient’s family member to not use or trust this hospital. I wished we would have listened.

I was taken really well of even though I was seen at the big hospital in the city and was neglected, was throwing up blood in the other lobby er actively and was ignored despite me telling them i take blood thinners. Once I was take to Baptist that changed and I mean quick all the staff were professional and compassionate. Also due to me being out of state living in PA they helped me get a bus ticket home to help me see my little girl who has sickle cell. The foundation next pay check I will be giving money so you guys can continue your mission to help people like me get home.

I’ve had disappointing experiences both times I’ve visited Baptist Health in Little Rock, and unfortunately, nothing seems to be improving. Right from the start, the front desk staff at check-in were incredibly rude. One woman actually yelled across the waiting room telling us not to tear off the bracelets ourselves to put them on—even though the printed instructions said to do exactly that. Another time, while I was being checked in, a second employee barged in, interrupted the woman helping me so she could check out another patient (breaking HIPPA she said she patient’s names a couple of times), and was openly rude and condescending to her coworker. She told her to “let her do it on her computer” and huffed and rolled her eyes when the other woman tried to finish her part. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. One of the check-in ladies even shouted up to the Breast Center floor several times to see if anyone was there. I had an 8:00 AM appointment and was told to arrive at 7:45, but the center doesn’t even open until 8:00. The staff just kept saying, “I don’t know why they tell y’all to be here then,” which made it clear there’s a lack of internal communication and coordination. When I went to schedule my next appointment, the woman handling it didn’t even look up at me once. She spoke while keeping her eyes glued to the papers in front of her, like I wasn’t even there. It was impersonal and off-putting. Also, the Breast Center itself didn’t appear to be cleaned from the day before. For arriving right when they opened, I expected things to look fresh and ready—not dusty and unkempt. That said, I do want to acknowledge that the imaging team was fantastic. I interacted with three nurses and one doctor, and they were all extremely kind, professional, and thorough. They explained everything clearly, answered all my questions (including ones about wait times and additional scans), and made me feel cared for. It’s a shame that the front-end experience doesn’t reflect the quality of the medical staff behind the scenes. Overall, Baptist Health has a long way to go in terms of organization and customer service at the front. If the check-in and administrative staff showed even half the professionalism of the imaging team, this would’ve been a completely different experience.

My postpartum nurse was AMAZING and she was definitely 5 stars!! However.. I told every single nurse I wanted no visitors. At all. Sure enough not even two hours after my 25 hour labor they allowed visitors in my room. I should have honestly started yelling and slamming the call button the second they got there but unfortunately the morphine was in my head good. Im 3 months postpartum and still absolutely livid about it, and refusing to go back. Do not recommend whatsoever.
