My Mother was in Delmar Gardens Lenexa, to rehab from a fall. Which means they knew she is a fall risk. Several times I arrived and found her sitting in a wheelchair with no restrain. There was always an excuse as too why she was sitting in a wheelchair with no restrain instead of in bed. She was sitting there with no TV on, and the cutains closed. She couldn't even look out the window. She fell from the wheelchair and was taken to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with a brain bleed in early Nov 2024. My Mother passed Dec 29, 2024. They first claimed they didn't know how she fell. They later said she was trying to get in bed, but my Mother wouldn't even try to stand. They had to use a lift to get her in and out of bed, she was always scared she would fall again. I gave Delmar Gardens a rating of #1 because I couldn't give a zero. Do your research.

They threw out my Mom s meds for epilepsy, blood clots and Myasthenia Gravis. She can t skip those meds! I asked for an EKG due to her swelling which was never done, and she contracted C Diff from this place and died there! DO not use ANY of their facilities, they are the worst!! They were not knowledgeable enough to care for someone with MG and the responsible thing to do would have been to say so. Reporting them does nothing!*Update I still have her medical records and the packet of information received when she was admitted. I still have her death certificate. Of course you didn t mention she died of C-Diff you would be negligent. Her death certificate says respiratory failure, Myasthenia Gravis and Anemia. I will not allow Google support to remove this review. People need to know what truly goes on there!Update:My mother was most definitely in your care, I have the box of medical records to substantiate my claims!

Hello, after researching our records of admissions and care records, we are sorry to inform you that we did not care for your loved one. We have not had an admission for Myasthenia Gravis in years. Additionally, we have no record of anyone passing away from C Diff. Therefore, we are certain that you have given a review for the wrong nursing home. We ask that you please remove this review. We are also reaching out to Google Support to have the review removed as this is false information and not a reflection of our care to your loved one. Sincerely, Delmar Gardens of Overland Park

I have found this facility to be a hidden jewel .when I was leaving the hospital I needed another week of IV ABT the Dr from the hospital sent me here. I read the online recommendation and being a retired nurse I was not looking forward to coming. I was very pleasantly surprised. The facility is very clean. No odor if they do your personal clothes, you get them back same day no later than next. The majority of CNA'S and nurses are very caring. The DON is easy to talk to. The care plan nurse makes sure the family and resident are involved in any decisions. The OT young lady is very sweet. The PT assistant is very persistent. As for dietary The breakfast is very good. They use cloth napkins here. As anywhere the meals depends on person's taste. If I ever have to go live in a facility I believe it would be here.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Detox treatment varies, but it always involves 24-hour clinical care in Kansas. This supervision is necessary to ensure a safe detox process. Time frame for this level of treatment depends on the severity and type of the addiction. Common time frames include 5-day detox and 7-day detox. Rapid detox programs are also available that are as short as 24 hours. Regardless of the time frame, constant supervision by experienced staff is an essential component.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Physical withdrawal can be uncomfortable, and in severe cases, it can even be dangerous. In an inpatient environment, a medically assisted detox is performed by a team of licensed medical professionals who monitor your vitals, provide medications when necessary, and ensure your safety, health, and comfort during this process. Medical detox is usually the very first step in the recovery process.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

In family therapy, experienced therapists help family members navigate the challenges of addiction by fostering open lines of communication and mutual support. This approach strengthens the family unit and improves the effectiveness of the recovery process.

By learning life skills during rehab in Kansas, you can learn how to manage daily life in recovery. These skills will help you establish a new and independent life. They'll help you develop a healthy daily routine, practice self care, and cultivate healthy relationships.

I worked here for about 5 months to cover a temporary leave in therapy and absolutely love this rehab and nursing facility. The therapy and restorative team is very experienced and caring. You're definitely in great hands with this them. I felt all the staff in other departments I interacted with or worked alongside is also great. They are approachable, friendly, and genuinely care, including nurses, CNAs, DON, administrator, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, the doctor who oversees many therapy patients, and transportation staff. There are a lot of move and groove groups or entertainers who make it a fun atmosphere that people can choose to go to. The place is kept clean, and the unique, vibrant style of the building makes you feel like you're on a cruise ship. I enjoyed getting to be a part of this great team and atmosphere during my time here.

Delmar Gardens has been incredible for my mother, Charlotte Reynolds. From the moment she moved in, the staff has made her feel at home. The facilities are top-notch and welcoming. My mother has never been happier! The activities and care she receives have truly improved her well-being. And she knows all their names, of so many staff and residents that have befriended her. Thank you to the amazing staff for your dedication and kindness. Highly recommended! Tammy Eickhoff, daughter of Charlotte Reynold Best regards, Tammy Eickhoff

Good at making it seem like a great place, but deff red flags, nursing has changed. I feel so bad for the families bc their loved ones are not loved or cared for correctly, understaffed and overworked. Lots of neglect and abuse. So sad to see I'm sure the owners would be disappointed. Deff need better housekeeping res rooms floors dirty, urine smells, nurses and aids disappear for hours during night and eve...don't put a loved one here( also DON means well but she doesn't even know how to do her job yet alone make the people under her enjoy the work environment. Most staff had a bad attitude. I did too but we are a team and there was none of this here. Deff burn out, and pay sucks, as well as morning shift would always complaining about something. Good luck to whoever works here.

Take your family members out of this nursing home asap. You’re not getting what you paid for. Other places will have them active, going and feeling alive still. The residents at this Delmar look miserable and bored. And, I wouldn’t even let my enemy stay here.
