DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT ACTUAL HELP FOR YOUR EATING DISORDER OR TRAUMA. After attending Eating Recovery Center I can confidently say this facility was neglectful, abusive, and completely untrained in the field of Eating disorders. When I was at this facility in June of this year, they had one therapist for all 18 patients, who would meet with you once a week for 5-10 minutes to ask you how you were doing, and provide you no advice, coping mechanisms etc. in that time, simply nodding along to you saying how suicidal you were. The only treatment provided was in group, in which we would simply color mass printed papers. They refused to provide patients with medication for days at a time every few weeks -- including nerve pain medication, heart medication, sleeping medication, and antidepressants. A woman in her first trimester of pregnancy was denied prenatal vitamins and, like the rest of us, never allowed to even contact her partner to discuss her ultrasounds and other test results. One patient was self harming severely for weeks with no help when she finally beat herself in the head 20 TIMES with a rock, which we informed staff of when she began slurring and stumbling 3 days later and informed us of what she had done-- and the "nurses" said she was fine without ever taking her to the doctor or a psychiatric facility. She was not put on any form of watch or preventative protocol. About a week later she finally self harmed so severely and had such a bad psychotic break that they did send her to psychiatric, but not before harm had been done by their months of inaction despite being fully informed on her state of mind. Staff were verbally and physically abusive, one staff member taking a girl who was having such a bad panic attack she was nonverbal and shaking her like a ragdoll. One nurse was unaware that when you have anorexia your period becomes irregular and reacted so strongly that even though I knew this fact I thought I was dying. I reported this facility to the Joint Commission and I would not recommend my worst enemy to attend it.

This place is horrible. Don’t let them fool you, there is ZERO individual treatments, I had no treatment plan and got zero help with trauma. When I brought it up to the head director multiple times nothing changed, it is extremely negligent, they forget your medications, it’s simply an insurance grab. Please don’t waste your time and traumatize yourself more. Keep yourself safe, this isn’t a safe place. I’m been jn fight or flight since I left snd now have an eating disorder I never had before. Stay. Away.

I was less than impressed with the quality of care provided by this center when my niece was a patient there. Male and female patients were housed together, and at one point a man in his 40s was caught having sex with an 18 year old female patient. Patients were often transferred here from substance abuse facilities owned by the same company as Eating Disorder Solutions. This made for a very uncomfortable environment for my niece and was detrimental to her ED recovery since many times the group topics were geared toward substance abuse rather than ED. There were also patients regularly harming themselves with broken glass and other objects that were readily available in their rooms. These people would be transferred to psychiatric facilities before returning after a few days to do the same thing again and again. They bill themselves as being a place for tranquility and healing, but my niece struggled to find either when the police and EMS were arriving on a regular basis to deal with situations like these. It was evident to everyone in our family that the goal of those in charge was to keep my niece in treatment for as long as possible despite her expressing her need and desire to return home. Her last three weeks in treatment consisted of her having "homework" assigned to her that was never even followed up on by her therapist. Please don't be fooled by some of the five star reviews. I believe that many of them are provided by employees of the company including the CEO of the company that owns Eating Disorder Solutions, Bryan Pickryl. His review certainly doesn't present itself as one put forth by the person in charge of the company, but more like a patient or family member of a patient. All in all, these people are deceptive and should not be trusted with caring for anyone you truly care about.

Other Forms of Payment

Financing your treatment can make treatment more accessible. You'll work with your care provider to set up payment plans, including interest rates and repayment timelines. Financing options vary widely and not all programs offer them, so be sure to get the full details before enrolling in treatment. If you have insurance or other benefits, financing may help you cover your remaining out of pocket expenses.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.

Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.

After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.

Telehealth in Texas encompasses four main applications. These are mobile health, store-and-forward, remote patient monitoring, and live video. Practitioners leverage these technologies to provide healthcare from a distance, which increases convenience and reduces cost.

Treatments

Texas's specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs prioritize comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs offer diverse levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Evidence-based therapies, trauma-informed care, group work, and educational workshops help treat both conditions at the same time and give you the tools to sustain mental health and sobriety.

With a co-occurring drug or alcohol addiction and a mental health disorder, you'll want to seek out a dual diagnosis treatment center. These specialized rehabs offer services to address both conditions at the same time, including 24/7 access to medical and mental health professionals. By treating both disorders at the same time, it drastically increases your chances of successful long-term recovery.

mental-health iconMental Health And Substance Abuse

Substance abuse treatment is available in Texas for anyone who's struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. These programs usually provide a comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment plan, and include evidence-based treatments, like therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to reframe unhelpful coping strategies, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help with emotional regulation and stress.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

Creative arts therapy focuses on creative processes. You may engage in sculpting, dancing, improv, painting, or sketching. These creative outlets provide an opportunity to explore and express difficult emotions.

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

Eating disorder treatment in Texas involves input from a comprehensive team. This may include a mental health professional, medical specialists, a dietician, and your friends and family. Together, this team provides the support you need to regain physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy in Texas can look different for each person. You may engage in fitness activities, community service, culinary arts, or art therapy, for example. The goal is to provide a safe setting where you can interact with your environment and work through emotions and experiences with the help of that activity and the guidance of a therapist.

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding family dynamic within the family unit. Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

What you eat has a significant effect on your mental and physical health. That's why many addiction recovery programs in Texas incorporate nutrition therapy in their treatment. This therapy teaches you how addiction affects nutrition, what foods are best to eat during recovery, and how to shop for and prepare healthy meals.

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.
