I would highly recommend EDS to anyone struggling with an eating disorder. I came out of treatment a completely different person... in the best way possible. The staff is the best. Again, I would recommend EDS to anyone who is struggling or knows someone who is struggling with an eating disorder.

I loved this place. It helped me so much I’m eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. They helped me with my self esteem. Like seriously my self esteem was in the gutter until Celia Spoon came along. Kiley piper and Ms Tamika helped me know what I needed to do and always provided a safe space if I needed it. Ms Unika and Elizabeth and Danielle and brandy and Kim provided such safe practices for medications and gave me a good laugh or hug if I needed it. I miss you guys! And Zack, I hope you are doing great bc you made me laugh so much. I love and miss y’all. I highly recommend this place if you are truly intent on getting better (even if you don’t want to at the beginning) I made lifelong friends and have a beautiful experience. Please scratch tuna the cat for me please. 1000000/10 I heavily recommend.

When I was looking for a place to get help with my overwhelmed stress breakdown, I searched for a place away from all my stress, asentully I was looking for a place to run away and hide. The photos I saw of this facility looked relaxing and away from the main hustle and bustle of everyday life and seemed like the perfect place to attend. I had all these anxious feelings running wild in my body all the way here, but when I arrived at the facility, it was so beautiful and out in the country, just like I had hoped it would be. I was excited to get inside and "relax". I went inside and met Nurse ELIZABETH, who greeted me with a smile; then she slowly, calmly, and patiently walked me through each step of the check in progress and answered any questions I had with an amazing attitude, didn't get frustrated with me when I was reading slowly, before answering, especially when I was trying to get my electric signature perfect, lol but it is nearly impossible to get it perfect but she laughed along with me as I tried my best to get it perfect anyways. While she was working with me, there were two other people going through my stuff and putting it all in a room for me, I was nervous about that at first, but it was explained to me what they were doing so I felt better. With all of ELIZABETH's sweetness, I was able to quickly relax all my anxious feelings I had heading out here. I was then able to work with her and plenty of other amazing staff members daily, since I was doing the residency program here. We had staff here 24/7 who worked closely with each other to treat myself and all the clients with respect on our individual journeys to a healthier lifestyle from a wide range of treatment needs. There is the best Facility Director ever; CASEY, two awesome therapists; CELIA & CLARISSA, six amazing nurses; UNIKA/Head nurse, ELIZABETH, DANIELLE, KIM, BRANDIE, AND DREY; who rotate shifts, five great recovery coaches, who rotate shifts; TAMIKA, ZACH, TRISTAN, KILEY. AND PYPER, (There was aslo RIKKI who I miss) an amazing dietitian; LAUREN, two excellent chefs; HALEY AND DILLON, who cook all our meals, two very helpful doctors, DR. PERIJOC AND DR. SWARUP, who we meet with online weekly. I wanted to make sure I mentioned everybody's names on here because each and every one of them helped me so much on my 2 1/2 month journey here. There are so many wonderful things that I could say about them but there is not enough room on here. This place is not what I originally thought it was going to be, but I am so very grateful for every opportunity this program offered me. The journey was not always an easy one but boy it ended up being one of the best roller-coaster rides I have ever been on, with all these amazing staff members providing me with helpful coping skills, important information about how the foods we eat have so many benefits to our bodies, educational groups, medication groups, fun art and music groups, and so so many more awesome resources. It really shows that each and every staff member here truly enjoys their jobs, and generally cares about EVERY client that comes through their doors. They are so compassionate and go over and above their duties to make sure we are comfortable, seen, treated with respect, and feel special, along with learning to love ourselves as much as they love us. I am going to miss, and I'm very grateful for every one of the staff members here plus so many amazing clients who have come and gone through this journey with me. I am a stronger woman now after having all them by my side. I was also able to help so many of them just by sharing my story, my struggles, and my victories with them. I have now transitioned into the virtual outpatient program where I will be able to continue getting more help along my path to a healthier and more peaceful mindset, then they will work with me to ease back into my work life. Thank you so much. ☺ 😍

Other Forms of Payment

Financing your treatment can make treatment more accessible. You'll work with your care provider to set up payment plans, including interest rates and repayment timelines. Financing options vary widely and not all programs offer them, so be sure to get the full details before enrolling in treatment. If you have insurance or other benefits, financing may help you cover your remaining out of pocket expenses.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.
outpatient iconOutpatient
After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.
telehealth iconTelehealth
Telehealth in Texas encompasses four main applications. These are mobile health, store-and-forward, remote patient monitoring, and live video. Practitioners leverage these technologies to provide healthcare from a distance, which increases convenience and reduces cost.

Treatments

Texas's specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs prioritize comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs offer diverse levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Evidence-based therapies, trauma-informed care, group work, and educational workshops help treat both conditions at the same time and give you the tools to sustain mental health and sobriety.

With a co-occurring drug or alcohol addiction and a mental health disorder, you'll want to seek out a dual diagnosis treatment center. These specialized rehabs offer services to address both conditions at the same time, including 24/7 access to medical and mental health professionals. By treating both disorders at the same time, it drastically increases your chances of successful long-term recovery.

mental-health iconMental Health And Substance Abuse

Substance abuse treatment is available in Texas for anyone who's struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. These programs usually provide a comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment plan, and include evidence-based treatments, like therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to reframe unhelpful coping strategies, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help with emotional regulation and stress.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

Creative arts therapy focuses on creative processes. You may engage in sculpting, dancing, improv, painting, or sketching. These creative outlets provide an opportunity to explore and express difficult emotions.

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

Eating disorder treatment in Texas involves input from a comprehensive team. This may include a mental health professional, medical specialists, a dietician, and your friends and family. Together, this team provides the support you need to regain physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy in Texas can look different for each person. You may engage in fitness activities, community service, culinary arts, or art therapy, for example. The goal is to provide a safe setting where you can interact with your environment and work through emotions and experiences with the help of that activity and the guidance of a therapist.

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding family dynamic within the family unit. Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

What you eat has a significant effect on your mental and physical health. That's why many addiction recovery programs in Texas incorporate nutrition therapy in their treatment. This therapy teaches you how addiction affects nutrition, what foods are best to eat during recovery, and how to shop for and prepare healthy meals.

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.

This place changed my life. When I walked though those doors I was struggling with many eating disorder behaviors, and had been for a long time. I was so sure that I was a lost cause and this was my last chance to finally have a life that did not revolve around food. The staff quickly showed me how much they care and are willing to walk though the hard stuff with you. They are kind and sweet and give everything they have to help you succeed in beating your eating disorder. For the 3 months I was there they made it feel like home. I am truly grateful to the whole staff for being a part of my journey.

I was hoping to have a good rating specifically because some of the staff seem to want to genuinely want the best for the clients Unfortunately, if you have an older adolescent near adulthood, you need to consider another location. Communication is severely lacking And having an outside support group I feel is essential to recovery. This specific client did have permission granted to speak to outside sources on file, but they were never included in updates and critical-treatment details were excluded until - what I’m finding out now - after discharge were what I would consider detrimental behavior issues.

After 2.5 months, I am leaving EDS completely changed from the person I was coming in, and feel I am the closest to my typical old happy-go-lucky self that I've always known my true self to be. I am truly grateful for the AMAZING staff and their ability to work with me. The road was NOT easy, and you MUST come with the mindset that change will not happen unless you want it - nobody is going to make you recover, you must make yourself recover. I did not want it at first, but with time and nutrition, things change on a mental level if you just trust the process and the team behind you. After decades of living with an ED, I am not changed completely over the span of months, but it has been a push to get out of the ED relapse low that I had been in. I want to give a shoutout to basically everybody on staff, I fell in love with them all, but some names in particular -- Lead Recovery Coach TAMIKA -- I felt love for her almost immediately. It was nice to have a familiar face working with you closely day-in-day-out, and she's generally just somebody who truly cares. And she's good at keeping you in line! Ha! Therapist CELIA -- I'm not someone that especially enjoys therapy, and I told her that day-one lol. It's hard for me to open up in therapy, and I initially built a wall between us before we even were able to get started, but we found our way, and I have truly enjoyed her support and her humor. She always found a way to make time for me throughout the day when needed and helped me learn to advocate for my needs/wants, which is something that I feel truly appreciative of learning during my time there. Nurse ELIZABETH -- The first person that I met at EDS! She never made me feel like I was asking too much of her (and I asked a lot of everybody lol) and I will miss her sense of humor and her caring spirit. Dietician LAURYN -- I swear, of all the staff there, I gave her the best run for her money! Ha! My ED and my general interest in nutrition questioned her tactics and knowledge like no other. She was willing to softly, yet sternly, work with me and my progress, and found ways to encourage me that I was not anticipating. It was her bargaining tokens that were personalized to me that truly helped me along. EDS has a great dietician on board and Lauryn is basically the standard that all incoming dieticians will need to meet (otherwise I just might not take them seriously lol). Thank you for the patience it took to get me where I am at. I will miss everybody that I've gotten to see and know on a daily basis, and it is truly the hardest part about being recovered enough to leave. Hopefully I do not come back lol but if needed, I would 100% come back to do it all over again at EDS.

Eating Disorder Solutions genuinely changed my life. I'm leaps and bounds better than I was before I got here. The environment is very welcoming and genuinely helpful. All the staff is understanding and kind, and the therapists are very good at what they do. If you're looking for a place for your ED recovery, this is the place to go.

The nurses and RAs are all super awesome. Shoutout to Miss Tamika, Zach, Nurse Danielle, Kim, Brandy, Elizabeth. However as someone with stomach problems, accommodations were not made to my dietary restrictions UNTIL I started having pain. I understand that my restrictions may seem like they're eating disorder behaviors, but I had a GI doctor on my side. It felt like I wasn't heard, and it was really unfortunate because my eating disorder stems from side effects I get because of my stomach problems. It also felt like a whole money grab. I felt like I was doing well and was ready to leave, but there was a mandatory number of days you had to stay. I was charged one amount at the time I left, but a week later it had doubled, and no one seems to answer any of my calls or provide me with a reason. They just keep asking me to pay it. The last thing that is UNACCEPTABLE is how I had a 90 day supply of medication that is like my lifeline because of my stomach problems, and is also now not covered by my insurance (so out of pocket is almost 1k). I was there for 30 days, so I should have had 60ish pills left. When I left, however, I was only given 5 pills back. I called asking where the rest were, and no one ever got back to me with a solution. I kept calling and asked about it, but no one ever handled it. I tried reporting the facility for pill mishandlement/theft, but it didn't go through. Shame. Drama there is crazy. Love everyone to pieces and I'm grateful for the knowledge I did gain, but it is a little hard to stay in your own lane when everyone is treating it like an episode of Degrassi.

Before I came here, I had already started working on my recovery, but when I got here, it pushed me back in my recovery. I debated whether or not to post this because I wouldn’t want to hinder anyone’s recovery but I would hate for someone to get setback as well. If your disorder is unique in anyway shape or form, I honestly do not believe this is the place for you. Awful place to go for any eating disorder that is unique. Unless your ED is exactly by the book, I wouldn’t recommend. I’ll add that I came here willingly, not only willingly, but had 0 help from my parents, took me 3 months to get everything in place and I jumped through all kinds of hoops to make it work so that I could get the help that I was desperate for. I’ll start with the fact that the Dietician is AWFUL. I repeat, AWFUL. Do not expect anything above that. The good healthy foods they advertise on their website are 100% inaccurate. Your food choices are extremely limited, even working with the dietician. I tried telling the dietician I didn’t eat white bread and that I preferred whole wheat because of my heart and she tried to tell me that there was no difference and that white bread is just as good and didn’t let me switch the breads… I was in such shock at such a ridiculous response that I didn’t even know what to say. If you don’t eat red meat, your only other options are chicken nuggets. That’s all that I was offered in replacement. one day I was trying to use the restroom, one of the staff members knocked and told me I needed to get to the group session . I was shown 0 respect from the staff, I’m 29 years old and got treated like a 7 year old. Also, when I called my mother to tell her what was going on, even the nurse at the front was shocked and apologized after over hearing my phone call. Anytime they don’t have group sessions, you’re just sitting around with nothing to do. No phone. And they lock your bedroom doors and tell you that you can’t go in there during the day. No one informed me of that untill I was stuck outside my room in my pajamas with no bra on underneath my shirt. On another note, each person is suppose to be assigned a therapist. I was assigned one, I got to talk to her the day I first arrived and then she apparently left for 5 days. She also suggested that i drop out of college and focus on my eating disorder. Not good advice in my opinion. I was told and that a different therapist would come and check one me. No one ever came and checked. I tried telling them I needed my laptop for school and they said I would have to wait until my therapist came back. I had assignments due, that wasn’t an option for me. Those first few days are also really tough and someone to talk to seems very critical to me. Once I decided to leave they started trying to accomidate my needs and then became very rude. They wouldn’t let me call my ride until I spoke with multiple staff members, and met with their online doctor that they still hadn’t set up for me to see. They seemed really fake when it came to genuinely caring. In my opinion, they care more about the money than the individuals that need help. It may be a beautiful place on the outside but the heart of this place is not. There’s a lot more wrong with this place but I’ll leave it at this.
