The therapy at Flagler Health was genuinely helpful, and many of the staff were kind and compassionate. But their billing practices are deceptive and predatory, and I want to warn others before they go through what I did. Before admitting me, Flagler reviewed my insurance and quoted me $1,500 total out-of-pocket. I asked them multiple times to confirm this, and my mother also verified it directly with them. They had all of my insurance info upfront, and they were confident in the $1,500 figure, enough so that I made the decision to admit myself based on that number. But once I was in treatment and vulnerable, they suddenly demanded $3,000 upfront, telling me it was required for insurance purposes or to stay in the program. I had no support, no way to stop and review anything, so I paid it under pressure. After discharge, I received a bill for nearly $200,000, completely out of nowhere, and with zero warning during treatment. I’ve since spoken with numerous other patients who had the same experience: quoted low, charged high, and blindsided by outrageous post-treatment bills. Even worse, they continue to harass me despite my sending certified cease-and-desist letters and debt validation requests. All I’ve received are generic itemized bills, not real validation. They are clearly trying to intimidate patients into paying unjustified charges. Other patients I met said they were lied to about things like being able to use their phones or there being video game consoles. While that wasn’t my personal experience, I heard it repeated by many. Tracy and Nivette, two staff members, were particularly rude and dismissive, the opposite of trauma-informed care. The sad part is, the clinical staff mostly meant well. But the administration, billing department, and intake process are manipulative and misleading. They tell you whatever will get you in the door, then exploit your vulnerability. If you’re considering Flagler, do not go unless you have everything in writing, including a full cost breakdown. Record every intake call if you can.

This place discharged me and left me in a really rough spot. Not only did they take all the Suboxone I took in there with me and not return it when I left, but I was on Subutex the week I was there in detox and when I got discharged I had nothing. I got discharged on a Saturday so no way to get my MAT meds for at least a few days. For most addicts on a MAT program this is a very dangerous place to be put in. I was very sick come Sunday morning. I tried when I got to the airport and realized I was screwed to contact someone and to no avail. All I got was message machines. I left messages and here it is Tuesday and still no return call. I can't just get into my doctor it's gonna be a few days, I can't understand how a recovery and detox place can leave someone so bad off.

PLEASE READ! 1: the pictures shown above are all fake. There is no pool, no gym. It’s nothing but bedrooms and a kitchen. The only Pros: the portion of the faculty that directly interacts with clients are excellent. These are Therapists, techs, cooks, etc. if one takes advantage of every activity available, sobriety is achievable. They allow smoking and perform weekly runs to the gas station for more. The premises is kept fairly clean as well. Cons: A great deal of fraud occurs here. They allow anyone with good insurance or cash to come. People without addiction, folks with panic attack disorders, folks with complex mental diseases including schizophrenics, people that should not be in the same building with addicts, are accepted if they can pay. I have trained in psych wards that were more calm than this place. Everyone who gets kicked out of other facilities, are accepted here and aren’t kicked out even if they shoot up and drink in their room each night. The rehab just keeps you another month! Any quality facility would kick out anyone that uses while there, but not Flagler! Everything you’re told when you call on the phone, is a lie. You’re talking to recruiters who work on commission, so they will tell you anything you want to hear. There is no gym, no cooks/chefs, no pool, no clean couches like in those pictures above. Nothing. All your belongings are taken when you get there. Also, any phone numbers you write as your contacts, the facility will call, All of them and convince them to send money that you don’t owe. These people called my family and conned them into paying $2000, when my insurance covered in full and there was no premium or copay. They call the workplaces of every patient to convince HR that they are very sick, convince them you need to spend more time in rehab. Then they convince your family you are in really bad shape and need months of rehab. You aren’t allowed to use the phone to call home/work to inform them of the all that is going on. People that come for 10 days of detox, are held here for months. You become a prisoner. The decision makers make up stories based on the situation; you will be told different things by different people. Just know what you’re told are false statements to get you to shut up. It is a lot like jail. Non stop fights, screaming, conflict, etc. Lastly, when it is time to plan the next step: outpatient care, halfway house, PHP, etc, they only present you with locations that their company owns, and say there is no other option. You’re told it’s the only option even if it’s 3 hours away from your home. You can go online and find a program that is not owned by them, that is likely 10 minutes away from your home. Trust nothing they tell you. IMPORTANT if you want to leave, demand the AMA contract. People think AMA means walking out, it’s not. If you walk out, They keep your belongings. When you come in, do not sign anything without reading it. Demand the Against Medical Advice (AMA) contract if you want to leave. Make a scene if they do not give it. IT IS ILLEGAL TO DENY A PATIENT THE AMA CONTRACT! Then you can have all your belongings and leave. If you are denied the contract, call 911 immediately! Rishi R. M.D.

Levels of Care

Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.

The first step of the recovery process involves the removal of all drugs and alcohol from your system while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, you are closely monitored by medical staff who can provide medications, if necessary, to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox is usually followed by a period of inpatient addiction treatment.

Treatments

When a person has alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism or alcohol addiction, they experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop drinking. This physical dependence results from overuse of alcohol, which may be used as a coping mechanism or escape. Individuals who have AUD can overcome the alcohol addiction through alcohol rehab in Florida. This treatment process involves essential therapy and supports to help the individual achieve and maintain recovery.
