Medical City McKinney – Wysong Campus

Closed: Mckinney, Texas

About Medical City McKinney – Wysong Campus

The residential program is intended for those with severe symptoms. You’ll live in a secure environment where staff can watch and support you 24 hours a day. Following an assessment, you’ll follow a personalized treatment plan that includes group therapy, recreational therapy, education and learning healthier ways to cope with your condition. Electroconvulsive therapy is available as needed.

After you wrap up your residential care, you’ll descale into an outpatient program. Each program has a different degree of flexibility and independence. Partial hospitalization is a day treatment program if you have a higher chance of relapse. You’ll check in on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

In contrast, the intensive outpatient program is available if you’re more stable and just need to continue therapy to reduce your stress even further. You’ll meet your peers on a regular schedule throughout the week. In both cases, you’ll go home each night to continue your recovery with your family and community.

I would give zero stars if I could. Medical City McKinney completely failed us when my wife needed urgent care. She had a severe allergic reaction, and I took her to this hospital not once, but twice. Both times the doctors and staff dismissed her condition, told us “nothing is wrong,” and sent us home. No proper tests, no urgency, no compassion. They made us feel like we were wasting their time instead of being patients in need. Meanwhile, my wife’s condition was getting worse by the hour. She was in visible pain and discomfort, yet they showed no concern. Their lack of care was shocking for a hospital that is supposed to protect lives. Out of desperation, we went the very same day to a hospital in Plano. The difference was night and day — they immediately recognized the seriousness of her condition, admitted her right away, and took her into delivery. That is how critical the situation really was. If we had listened to Medical City McKinney and stayed home, my wife and baby could have been in serious danger. This is not just poor service — this is dangerous negligence. I cannot trust this hospital with the lives of my loved ones, and I strongly urge others to think twice before coming here. Your health and safety deserve better.

Came to the ER at night with just feeling sick symptoms and couldn't walk to to severe neuropathy. Found out, it wasn't something simple. It was Danger high blood potassium, 7.5 ish, which is walking cardiac arrest! Well I was admitted, again .. ER did their usual amazing job. Didn't wait to awful long for a room, was in one the following morning. (Arrived about midnight that night). Things were fast but precise from that point on! Fantastic Dialysis unit! And its always good when you see nurses from previous visits and they Greet you with open arms rather than run from you! I was in for 6 days this trip, that's 5 days too many! But the food was really good, TV worked and they didn't complain about my scanner. Had surgery and the pain after was very well managed and even well managed at home after discharge! The Nursing staff is just freaking amazing! Wish there was a Kudo's line you could call to give a staff member a Kudo's. Well all my nurses and techs would be called in for Kudo's! The Amanda/Pillar duo was not only awesome but kinda comical too, they kept me smiling! Nights with Melinda/Mary was great too! My ONLY issue is with the lab people. They are trained to hit surface veins but not deep veins or damaged veins. As a kidney patient my veins are shot, so much that I require a Sono IV on arrival. I had one lab girl say she'd be back then tell the nurses I denied giving blood - Totally untrue! Also, and not as big a deal but, If the hospital would train more of their nurses to administer a Sono IV, it would speed things up when someone like me comes in with just bad veins. It was a pretty good wait in the ER for someone with Sono skills to come put an IV in. Fantastic Hospital, Decent rooms, Awesome Staff, Top notch food and amazing care!

Accepted Insurance

Medical City McKinney – Wysong Campus works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Alcoholism occurs when a person becomes physically and psychologically dependent on alcohol. Attending a professional alcohol rehab in Texas can provide customized intervention methods to address the physical, mental, and relational challenges of addiction.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image

Seniors Program

Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

Addiction recovery treatment in Texas will offer recreational therapy in a holistic approach to treatment. Therapy incorporates enjoyable activities that support your physical and mental health, such as team sports, creative arts, or individual sports. This activity gives you an emotional outlet, reduces your stress, and improves your mood, each of which promotes long term sobriety.

Everyone was so nice and made me fill completely comfortable. I was nervous at first, but the whole team was awesome ! Dr. Sanja Nayyar was very kind, he came in and introduced himself and explained everything to me before and after. If you want to be around a friendly atmosphere this would be the place. I’m thankful that I went to medical city surgery Center. I will return. Thanks!! to everyone Who was involved in my care. 🙏

Even though the ER was efficiently run, once admitted to hospital was different story! No clean gown and/or supplies were furnished until the 3rd day. No restrictions on phone use throughout the night. Both roommates talked on the phone constantly all night long every night. No sleep at all. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!
