About Mountain Springs Recovery

Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is included with detox service to help ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce drug cravings. They use FDA approved medicines that help guests remain comfortable.

Their individual therapy sessions apply proven methods like cognitive behavioral therapy. This gives you one on one time to examine thoughts and behaviors that may relate to addiction tendencies. You can work on developing healthy coping skills, avoiding substance use triggers and learning relapse prevention methods for future use.

Group therapy is another crucial component of their program. It provides time to openly discuss addiction challenges with others in recovery who can empathize and understand your journey. It also reduces feelings of isolation, which often accompany substance abuse. Group sessions give you a community network with others, sharing the goal of long term sobriety.

Their unique program uses non 12 Step methods. You’ll learn evidence based practices that rely on proven strategies for accountability and recovery. Family therapy is available and may help loved ones understand more about the disease of addiction so they can provide a supportive network after treatment.

You can also access experiential therapies, which offer alternatives to traditional therapeutic methods. These methods may include equine therapy, music therapy and art therapy.

Holistic therapies are available that focus on the mental, physical and emotional aspects of addiction and healing. They have yoga, meditation and mindfulness techniques, which may help reduce stress and promote relaxation. These methods can help avoid relapse, assisting with long term sobriety.

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Choosing to seek treatment for substance abuse at Mountain Springs Recovery in Colorado, was the best decision I've made for myself in a long time. I am from Iowa and have been in treatment before, but MSR really brings the recovery journey up to the highest level. John makes sure each and every client feels welcome, seen, and heard. His #1 priority is that you have a positive experience and everything you need for a successful recovery. I am so grateful and have nothing but love for all of the facilitators. Each one of them, in recovery themselves, work hard to teach you the skills you need to go back out into the real world with tools that actually work to use in times of need with group sessions 7 days a week, 6 hours a day. The medical staff, therapists, and case managers offer support as well as specialized treatment for each individual. Building relationships with other members of the community was very important to me. I met some amazing people that I will stay in touch with for years to come. It was wonderful to be able to do normal extracurricular activities sober. Hiking the mountains with Eddie and Rob, running club and volleyball with X, special weekend outings, pool time, playing bags, and karaoke on weekends! I truly believed in completely immersing myself in my recovery by participating in as many activities as I could to get the full experience offered at Mountain Springs Recovery. The peer led groups like FUA, NA, AA, and Dharma offer you an opportunity to have more avenues of support during recovery. I can't begin to explain the strength, courage, and resilience I found within myself in the 60 days I was there. I would recommend Mountain Springs Recovery over and over again to anyone considering inpatient treatment. I loved every bit of my stay with my new family!

I entered the program and had staff go through my property. The staff missed some of the items in my property that I had from when I was in active addiction. I thought the right thing to do was take it to the night shift lead. When doing so I was asked to pack my stuff and leave. After asking how they could kick me out when I was honest with them. The lead John became aggressive and threatened me getting in my face and asked me to fight. Calling me out of my name. I would not recommend this place for anyone, let alone people who are dual diagnosed. I suffer from P.T.S.D, severe trauma, and severe anxiety. The staff was not perfessional, at all i did not feel safe. I would not suggest to anyone who is seeking a safe place to get clean to go here.

Response from the owner
While we can't comment on specific situations due to privacy laws, the health and safety of our patients is our top priority. If we're not the best fit for a patient's specific situation and medical history, we will refer them to a treatment provider who can meet their needs
