About Mountain Springs Recovery

Mountain Springs Recovery provides substance abuse treatment in Monument, Colorado. They offer detox and residential services that include 24 hour medical care for safety and comfort. Their residential program ranges from 30 days to 90 days, depending on the severity of symptoms.

Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is included with detox service to help ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce drug cravings. They use FDA approved medicines that help guests remain comfortable.

Their individual therapy sessions apply proven methods like cognitive behavioral therapy. This gives you one on one time to examine thoughts and behaviors that may relate to addiction tendencies. You can work on developing healthy coping skills, avoiding substance use triggers and learning relapse prevention methods for future use.

Group therapy is another crucial component of their program. It provides time to openly discuss addiction challenges with others in recovery who can empathize and understand your journey. It also reduces feelings of isolation, which often accompany substance abuse. Group sessions give you a community network with others, sharing the goal of long term sobriety.

Their unique program uses non 12 Step methods. You’ll learn evidence based practices that rely on proven strategies for accountability and recovery. Family therapy is available and may help loved ones understand more about the disease of addiction so they can provide a supportive network after treatment.

You can also access experiential therapies, which offer alternatives to traditional therapeutic methods. These methods may include equine therapy, music therapy and art therapy.

Holistic therapies are available that focus on the mental, physical and emotional aspects of addiction and healing. They have yoga, meditation and mindfulness techniques, which may help reduce stress and promote relaxation. These methods can help avoid relapse, assisting with long term sobriety.

Hands down an incredible, comfortable, and supporting facility. I checked myself into MSR in December for a 30 day rehab rehabilitation visit. I have struggled with drugs and alcohol for 21 years, and I can now proudly say after my treatment at MSR that I am six months clean and sober and have the best life I could imagine. starting from the director, John, to the front staff like Tawny and Celine, to Ashley and Teresa, who all helped the stay there feel like home and enjoyable. I cannot say this without any more honest truth that this facility helped me get my life back. The director John Aicher runs a very smooth and accommodating program where he personally speaks to each individual resident and ensuring the fulfillment in their stay. If you or a loved one are in need of recovery. I highly suggest Mountain Springs Recovery.

Thank you for the most wonderful experience. The facilities are comfortable and beautiful. The director of operations, John, is always available to speak with about any issues you may have. The facilitators are all in recovery as well, so they really know what you are going through and what you have been through. Coach Al, Dr. Crow, Kim, Ester, Eddie, Liz, and Roxanne are amazing. They have so much insight to share with you. Ashley, Zach, Tanya, Selena, Teresa, thank you for always being friendly and helpful as well. If ypu need recovery and help with mental illness, this is the place to go. Best wishes Mountain Springs.

I recently completed my treatment at Mountain Springs Recovery, and it was wonderful. The facility is a short drive from the mountains, and the range is visible from multiple areas which makes for a great backdrop for anyone seeking recovery. My flight was delayed the day of my intake, so I didn't get into Colorado Springs airport until after midnight. The staff still happily picked me up from the airport and was very prompt about completing documentation necessary. Every one of the BHTs were so kind and helpful. I had only positive experiences with all of the BHTs, and all of them are very kind. Not just from a professional standpoint, but also just good company in case I was waiting for meds, provider, etc. I will give special shoutout to Ashley and Zach, for they both have incredible energy and always stay positive. The facility is what it is described as, and the only downfall is that in the winter months, you do need to pack accordingly because a lot of the walkways in between buildings are outside and uncovered. All in all, it's a very easy place to navigate because the buildings travel in a circle from the front desk area. I also really love this place because I didn't have to disconnect. I work remotely, and I couldn't find a good time to take a good length of time out of my schedule without feeling completely halted in my business. And while I understand some other treatment centers restrict internet and phone access to "make clients fully immerse in the program," I do not believe that to have been the case at MSR. With keeping the connection to the outside world both professionally and personally, it actually made my experience better because it prevented me from getting stir-crazy and made communications and planning aftercare a lot easier. IOP was planned with my case manager there, but determining specific groups, locations, and other personal plans for recovery and support, I liked having the available internet access to be able to structure my life after leaving. I cannot recommend this place enough. John, the director, is always so on top of operations and was very prompt about addressing any concerns or tasks that needed to be completed. If I brought something up to staff, they all helped where they could, even if it was keeping proficient communication between staff turn-overs. If it wasn't being addressed as quickly as was necessary or I had further questions, it was a well-known statement that you could always bring it up at the community meeting, or above all else, "Talk to John." I've never had this level of interaction with someone in that high of a position, whether it be a dean, a boss, etc. To have him be so amicable and helpful was a great resource. I could give an individual shoutout to all of the facilitators for different reasons, but there are two that really stand out to me. Both Al and Xavier are incredible facilitators, have their own experiences, and have a lot of wisdom about what they are teaching outside of the material/topic that they were discussing on any given day. I've talked to both of them by interacting in groups and outside of groups. Their energies are so consistent, so it's easy to see their genuineness of character.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. The length of stay at the detoxification program is determined according to the specific needs of the patient.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

MSR has truly helped me change my life. This was my 5th treatment facility (impressive I know) and by far the best on all levels. The facilitators are amazing, being both educated on addiction and also understanding considering all of them have dealt with their own addictions. Clinical was great and so kind and understanding. Never too busy to talk. John the director was always around and involved in our recovery journey’s. I’ve never been to treatment where you get to talk to the director let alone hang out and have a conversation with. At MSR you are treated like a person not an addict. I never felt talked down to or less than. I can honestly say that this treatment affected me like no other. I left with recovery and not just sobriety. I would suggest this to anyone needing help with addiction or mental health. You won’t find a better place. Trust me I would know.

I can't say enough positive about my stay at MSR. Everyone including all staff, nursing, BHTs, group facilitators, counselors, case managers, kitchen staff, and especially John the director of operations. They were all so kind, supportive, and non-judgemental. The best thing about MSR are the residents, all were friendly, understanding, and supportive of everyone and their addictions. I have made lifelong friends in my recovery journey from MSR. I used to think that rehab would be scary but I was completely proven wrong by this place. The curriculum is great as well as all of the amenities, the peer led groups, such as FUA, Dharma, Men's group, and outings. I would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you MSR!

NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR VEGETARIANS!! There is little to no thought put into making sure vegetarians are well fed. Several times they actually completely forgot to make my food and I had to skip meals. When I complained that I wasn’t getting enough solid food to live on safely and begged them to let me get DoorDash so I could have a solid meal after hardly eating for several days they refused and I went malnourished for the rest of the 30 day stay. It made it a miserable stay as everyone but me was getting fed well. Meanwhile I lost 10 pounds while I was there and I was very skinny to begin with. One day they gave me egg rolls for lunch and dinner. Egg rolls are a side, not a meal and definitely not fit for 2 meals in a row.

MSR was absolutely life changing for me. The staff, the Facilitators, and all of the peer clients helped me in so many ways I never could have imagined. I was soo scared going to a treatment facility. I had no idea what to expect. From the moment I got there and went through intake, into detox, and the rest of my time there, I was treated nothing short of wonderful. I was made so comfortable. Through my journey there, I learned so much about myself. I rediscovered the person I lost soo very long ago, myself. I would highly recommend MSR to anyone struggling with addiction and/or mental health struggles. MSR and their staff genuinely cares about each client and goes above and beyond to help each client in all ways possible. I am forever grateful for my time at Mountain Springs Recovery. Thank you all, for helping me find my authentic self again!
