About Pathway to Serenity Inc
Pathway to Serenity is located on Toliver Street in a residential section of Houston, Texas. They provide residential substance abuse treatment for men that are 18 and older. The center dates its origins back to 1997. Their founder states, “I received a vision in 2005 and it came to reality in 2009. I am excited about the challenge that is ahead of me to be a positive role model and to demonstrate through my actions that others may be able to find their own Pathway to Serenity.”
They’re located in a residential neighborhood of Houston in a home-like setting near area businesses, hotels and restaurants. You can also easily access I-69 and I-610 for easy transportation to and from the facility. They are located in the Northeast part of Houston and are near natural landmarks including the Sheldon Lake State Park & Environmental Learning Center, Herman Brown Park and North Shore Park.
Intensive Residential Treatment Program
They provide an intensive residential treatment program. Prior to entrance into the program, clients must be sober for a 30-day period. They also must maintain a sponsor and maintain active employment throughout the program’s duration.
No Medical Care Onsite – Referrals Provided
Though they don’t include an onsite medical professional, I find it good to know that Pathway may refer you to community healthcare programs that may be able to address and treat your co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

The program’s goals are to prepare you for independence, or a next step group home setting, where you are substance free and able to maintain your daily obligations. They provide spiritual growth and guidance to their residents through traditional 12 Steps and health education to help them build and achieve life skills that will assist in long-term sobriety.
It’s reassuring to know that Pathway is a state-licensed facility through the Department of Health and Human Services and the Texas Workforce Commission. They are also licensed by the Harris Health System. Referrals to additional community support groups for work and housing as well as educational programs may be made as you prepare for completion of the program.

I miss and love them both
My cousin came here when she got out of prison. The Owens family treated her so poorly and made her feel like she couldn’t recover. Horrible service. I’d give them a 0 rating if I could because nobody deserves to be treated that way, especially with such sensitive matters

We're sorry to hear about her unfortunate xperience at Pathway to Serenity. Due to the nature and sensitivity of an intensive residential treatment program for recovery from substance abuse, such as ours, we feel as though it's best for the safety of all individuals in the program that men and women are not being treated in the same setting/house. Unfortunately at this time we don't have a program dedicated to helping the many women that are suffering and want to receive the help they deserve. This may change in the future.
