About Hartford HealthCare Rushford

You can have medication assisted treatment through their MATCH program. The program helps by accommodating your school or work schedule. There’s also an inpatient treatment program for teens that includes the Rushford Academy Day School. This way you can get state approved education while receiving treatment for substance use and mental health issues.

As a teen, you’ll get individual and group therapy to help with co-occurring disorders while also getting an education that adheres to the state’s Common Core standards. You’ll also have art classes and the opportunity to play with and care for the school’s pets.

Another great thing is the vocational and career training with the potential to work in the school in jobs like classroom tutor or art assistant. You’ll get paid with points that you can use in the school store.

They also have residential treatment and outpatient treatment programs for adults. In the adult program, you can get detox treatment with 24/7 medical supervision. The adult programs include a partial hospital program, intensive outpatient program and outpatient program with medication management.

You’ll get group and individual therapy. They offer art therapy, yoga and a gym where you can work out. If you’re Latino, they also offer a program specific to your needs.

Accepted Insurance

Hartford HealthCare Rushford works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers short-term intensive rehab for those who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option after being released from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program can provide medication management, relapse prevention strategies, and behavioral therapy interventions. With daily sessions lasting up to 8 hours for up to 5 days a week, the duration can vary with the average being 90 days.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Connecticut provides the professional support that is often necessary to break free from drug dependency. With proper treatment, individuals can make changes that restore balance and health to their lives and achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

IOP was a joke, had an unlicensed intern run it. Diagnosed me with something I didn’t and do not have just to say their IOP was good for the whole group. Left after day 1. Shame on the staff for this behavior.

I can't say enough terrible things about the way this place handles admissions. I was supposedly admission admitted showed up on time. got my little green bracelet. did it indicated I always admitted? took my blood pressure which was high as usual which is also on record. nurse Karen, honestly that's her name. well deserved hostily asking me some questions about a medical condition had me partially stripped made some negative comments and we're off so I spent hours there only essentially be kicked out because I'm too complicated. I'm supposed to get more treatment before I could come back but then there was no coming back. basically his friend who brought me an hour kind of herded to the door a second later I had her go back to pick up the 20 pages they saw of the stuff that I filled out. it had already been shredded. there was no coming back for me. it is humiliating devastating abusive. awful experience these people do well to obliterate the health care part of Health Care 😭

Rushford took down my original review (i could only imagine why) , so ill repost it for potential future clients. i was a patient at rushford who completed the program on the 25th (still going strong with my sobriety for over a month tomorrow). the experience i had there was the worst experience ive had when it comes to healthcare. I went into suboxone withdrawals, they skipped me for meds for the last 3 of days because i was in quartine . i was coughing up blood and made reports to staff about it and nothing was done. they'll stuff you full of valium and or suboxone, then they wont provide whats necessary to keep the foundation of your "plan" set up. numerous times i noticed i professionalism with staff like when they would ignore clients, or do meaningless tasks like celebrity trivia when we are here to recover. along with numerous arguments with staff who are no greater than any of the clients given that most are previous drug addicts. you would think hartford healthcare would have a better grasp of the situation going on there but theres only three good people on the floor there. Ray one of the Csa's, Rick one of the nurses, and Brianna a clinician. if you go to rushford look for any of those three people

You are treated like a prisoner here. Nobody comes around to check on people. So you can really die and nobody would know. Second shift is extremely lazy and rude. They do not want to pass meds a second earlier even if you’re going through it. Mostly men are here only 4 women. Men bully women over the phone. They don’t let you use the phone until after dinner which is ridiculous. Phone should be on all day long. They do have snacks and drinks all day available. The overall meals are disgusting. No smoking. Lost some of my clothes idk how when I came in by myself. They give you a lot of meds and the meds made me feel horrible. There was a point I was going to tell them have 911 come get me. The male Counselor Kevin was great. However they never booked my after care. Then when I tried getting an appointment for IOP after discharge they couldn’t get me for a month. There was a male Nurse can’t remember his name he light skin black he was great!
