She came into our lives when my 32 year old pregnant daughter was struggling with addiction and felt lost. It was later in the day when I reached out for help, but without any hesitation, Christina answered the call and told me she was going to be there. True to her word, she showed up with compassion, kindness, and hope.
Christina came with a recovery journey chart that immediately built trust with my daughter. She took the time to sit down with her, create a personalized recovery plan, and show her that recovery was possible. From the very beginning, Christina treated my daughter with respect and dignity. She never once made her feel judged.
For the first time in a long time, my daughter became genuinely interested in her recovery and wanted to participate in the REACH Program because Christina believed in her.
Her kindness, patience, and dedication have made a lasting impact on our family. We need more people like Christina in this field. Thank you, Christina, from the bottom of my heart for giving my daughter encouragement, support, and a reason to believe in herself again. You are truly making a difference in people’s lives. Christina please know that Pamela is grateful for you and so are we.

This facility is usually mandated by court order in most cases clients are involuntarily participating in a program that will help them with their Mental Health issues with anger and any substance abuse if applicable. I would like to say due to the new Fresh Faces and Lively Souls mcaa is making a comeback. I highly recommended and the administration is top tier. Even though this establishment has been in this community for many years the percentage of Rehabilitation is tremendously low throughout the community of Waterbury and Statewide. Thus we are referring to less than 10% of clients actually have success rates. However hope should not be given up and MCCA should be given another opportunity because they are trying their best to make a dreadful experience into a positive one. Shout outs to the director and Jackie who has been at the establishment for over three decades.

I was a patient there and Dr. Ong was absolutely amazing. She went well above and beyond by making sure I was placed in the Polytrauma Care Team. Dr. Ong made sure I had all my meds, when I needed someone to talk to I went to her and she listened to me and offered her insight. Dr. Ong was the best Primary Care doctor I ever had and her and nurse Mike made sure I had all my updated vaccinations. Nurse Mike made me feel welcome and very approachable, we talked about sports, about hobbies, and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I was a patient there from June 2024 until November 2025. I relocated but I wished I did not and now I regret it I may go back to Waterbury just so Dr. Ong, Nurse Mike, and The Polytrauma Care Team can handle all of my care. Because at the Waterbury primary care clinic and at the West Haven VA I feel that I received the best care for my Neurological, TBI, Cognitive Function, Mental Health, and, Occupational Therapy needs.

This is absolutely the best of the best medical offices I have ever been to for medical assistance. Every person who works there is friendly, helpful, and polite. I have been a Connecticut resident most of my life, but I have lived in Pennsylvania for a few years, Texas too, and have used their VA medical centers as well. All of them were very good, but if I have to pick one that I believe was/is the absolute Best, I would chose, hands down, Waterbury VA .

I want to give my deepest gratitude to my case worker, Alissa Capaldo from the REACH Program, who has been nothing short of incredible during one of the hardest periods of my life.
After leaving a domestic situation while pregnant and caring for my toddler boys. I found myself without somewhere to go but protecting my kids was my first concern and asking for help wasn’t easy, especially when you are vulnerable, scared, and trying to protect your children.
I was connected to Alissa through a referral and I can say I have never met a caseworker in any organization that stepped in with this much urgency, compassion and unwavering dedication. No matter the stopping blocks that came in my way at times, she continues to lift me up and support me without hesitation.
Alissa is now working tirelessly to secure housing resources for me and my children, while also helping us gather essential supplies for my babies and connecting us to every bit of support we are able to obtain. Alissa resources and referral have been awesome.
Alissa checks in consistently, advocates for us, and makes sure nothing is overlooked. I can say what I appreciate the most is Alissa never judged me, never made me feel small, and never make me feel like I’m a burden. She treats me with respect, patience, and genuine kindness. I am also able to express myself which isn’t easy in my situation. She’s given me hope again.
I want to say thank you to Alissa’s supervisors for having someone like Alissa on their team. She represents the REACH Program with professionalism, empathy, and heart. Workers like her change lives, and mine is proof. Due to Alissa’s dedication and compassion, my children and I are finally moving toward stability and peace. I am truly grateful for everything she has done and continues to do. She is a blessing, and I will never disappoint her no forget the impact she has had on our lives.

TURNBRIDGE made all the difference! I cannot say thank you enough to the residential program and the extended care staff for the love and care and accountability and compassion they showed our family throughout my daughter’s time in Connecticut!! When she was admitted to the residential treatment program I wasn’t sure what else to try. She had already participated in a 70-day stay at a residential program in GA, Intensive Outpatient Program, individual counseling, family counseling, grief counseling, 3 acute hospitalizations and 3 inpatient adolescent psychiatric admissions. To say that I felt we had exhausted all our options is an understatement. But I am here to tell you: Turnbridge made a tremendous difference! The lessons learned during the residential program STARTED the healing and growth process for all of us. The extended care program, where there was a very gradual step-down in the number of clinical hours/therapy each day and each week, and a gradual reintroduction to the same public/societal stressors and triggers that proved too much in the past, is really where lasting change and habits began. My daughter’s case manager, Ana, has become family! Months after she returned home, Ana still checks in with us. I am so grateful to the team of seasoned professionals who saw through her grief and pain and anger and chose to help build-up the wounded and scarred girl hiding beneath it all. My 17 year old excelled in her classes this summer and is looking forward to starting her Senior Year in a few weeks. We are 180° from where we were this time last year and TURNBRIDGE will forever be part of her success story!!

My class was court ordered, but it has almost been a blessing in disguise. I’ve learned so much, even though the curriculum they have to read out of and engage with the class, is a bit outdated, Alyssa and Sue still manage to bring the topics up to date to help you relate and retain. Sue, Alyssa and Jess…some of the most compassionate and understanding people you could ever ask and hope for going through this life choice of committing to better not only your health, your mental health. You’re with so many great people. Everyone conquering and learning about themselves and each other together. Hearing that you’re truly not alone, really is a powerful part of healing.

For all you did for me, and I hope if supervisor sees this in publicly recognizes you for all the wonderful work you do.You're a blessing to all vets..

Torrington, CT | McCall Behavioral Health Network, formerly the McCall Foundation, is a nonprofit substance abuse network based out of Torrington, Connecticut. Clients of all ages can receive residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, general outpatient treatment, medication assisted treatment and dual diagnosis care at this facility. They provide a cus | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I don’t often write reviews, but this one feels important.
I began my journey here years ago, and Rebecca H. completed my initial intake, and then became my clinician. From that very first interaction, it was clear that she approached her work with genuine care and intention—not just going through the motions, but truly seeing me as a person.
Over the years, she has gone above and beyond in every sense. She has supported me through processing trauma, growth, and setbacks, always showing a level of compassion and understanding that made it possible for me to keep moving forward. She creates a space where you feel safe, respected, and challenged in the right ways.
A significant part of my recovery is something I directly attribute to her. That kind of impact doesn’t happen by chance—it comes from dedication, skill, and a deep commitment to the people she serves.
To say that she genuinely cares feels like a complete understatement.
Organizations are strengthened by professionals like her. I am incredibly grateful for the role she has played in my life, and will forever be grateful as well to Karin R. and Paul R, and all the staff and program as a whole.

I have nothing but excellent things to say so far. Their hours are very accommodating for new patients, and everyone I spoke to was kind and caring. Furthermore, they seemed to really get behind my primary goals for treatment, whereas my previous provider seemed to keep dissuading me against it. I really like the overall vibe and appreciate how easy of a transition it has been.

Bethlehem, CT | Located in Hartford, Connecticut, Newport Academy is an alcohol and drug rehab program that offers addiction treatment services to men and women struggling with addiction. They offer residential treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient treatment services to teens ages 13 to 17. Newport Academy is an addiction treatment center for individual | Programs Payment Options | his is my full, honest experience at Newport Academy in Connecticut. There are 4 houses with 7 pods. Each pod has 5-9 people sorted by issue (e.g. Bear for neurodivergent, Bobcat for depression). This is your programming pod. You might get a roommate, a single, or a room with a bathroom. The schedule is "groups," activities, and free time. Groups are usually useless; you answer questions on a sheet or discuss a TED talk. You get three therapy sessions a week: primary, counselor, and family. I programmed with Bobcat but lived in Fox in a single room. The houses are very nice. Everybody curses all the time, including staff. You visit the basketball court, yurt, and play ga-ga ball. Once a week is "adventure" (paddleboarding, hiking). The adventure therapist is very nice and took me on an individual 5K. You do MMA twice a week with Jeremy, who is nice and fun. There is a gym with a treadmill, but the rowing machine and bike are broken. Your pod usually uses the Nintendo Switch once a week. You watch up to a PG-13 movie most nights. You get three meals and three snacks daily. Snacks are often unhealthy, with fruit occasionally. You can get a max of seconds at meals, or get a Boost drink approved by a dietician. If you dislike dinner, you can eat pasta. Lunch alternatives are sun butter, turkey, or ham sandwiches. The food is hit-or-miss, so I usually ate alternatives. Saturdays have a pastry buffet and Sundays have a cereal bar.The nurses are very incompetent. They watch YouTube while giving meds and often gave me the wrong ones. IF YOU GO, LEARN WHAT YOUR MEDS LOOK LIKE AND CORRECT THEM!!!There is a leveling system. Your first 3 days are "Focus" (no adventures, 7.5-minute calls). Self-harm, purging, or aggression puts you on "Refocus" for 3 days. You stage up weekly by doing binder work and behaving. "Mentor" is the highest level, giving 20-minute calls and an MP3 player. It is stupid that you only get music at the highest level. I only leveled up once because I complained about the nurses' medication errors. Some staff are nice, some are mean. The pod staff are called BHS (behavior health specialists). They curse a lot but are chill. One BHS named Haley (or Haleigh) is pretty awful, though the therapist named Haleigh is not bad. I was approved by the dietician to get fruit during snack because I was on a med that makes me hungry. When I tried, she said that the med should only make me hungry right after I take it (biologically, that's NOT how it works, haley!) and wouldn't let me take fruit. Staff scroll YouTube shorts and make fun of you in a Teams group chat. One client was throwing books, and during a psych meeting on a tablet I saw the notifications of the teams chat. They said "remind them of opposite action" ( a dbt skill) and another person replied "they opposite actioned the heck out of those books." There is no equine therapy or ropes courses at Conneticut; that is a lie. In Bobcat, one kid was pissing on the bathroom floor and it turned out to be my best friend. A few years ago, an incident happened where a staff basically broke some really bad rules and messed up. When I brought it up, Ms. Daneesha, a bobcat staff, got very upset and said she was going to talk to a higher-up to talk to me about it. She said she wasn't retaliating but it seemed like she was. The staff also let people bully you a lot and like I said suck at breaking up fights; they definitely are not trained well enough. People fart on each other a lot there.
I had depression, SH, and family issues. Somehow, I actually was cured of my depression here. I am going to be honest: the overall quality of living there is kind of rough in conneticut as of 2026. However, I was skeptical at first, but if you genuinely trust the program, it *will* help you get better. If you're nervous, I hoped this help. 4/5.

So far we have had a really good experience. They have been very organized, caring, and kept us updated. They even called to check in and make sure everything was going okay, which meant a lot to us.
My daughter is very sensitive and it takes her time to adjust and feel comfortable, so having people who are patient and understanding makes a big difference. They have really taken the time to care for her needs.
It has only been a week, so we are still seeing how everything goes, but so far we are very thankful and appreciate all the care and communication. We will update again as time goes on. ❤️

My 15 yr old son just came home after spending 2 months at Newport in Connecticut.
Prior to Newport , our family was at its lowest point. My son was hurting on the inside but the only way he could express it was violence towards himself or Us his parents. I knew the root was hurt because he experienced a lot of childhood trauma due to me being a severe alcoholic from the time he was born until I got sober when he was 10yrs old. After getting sober and healthy for myself, I tried it all to help him, therapy, psychiatrist, church. He continued to get worse. I finally found Newport and prayed a residential treatment program might help us.
It did!!!! Newport exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical at first after reading other google reviews but my experience was amazing. They didn’t just provide the tools and therapy and psychiatric help my son needed, They also provided all of that for us as his parents as well. It was an all around family therapy that I didn’t realize we desperately needed. They told me from the jump if I put in the work while my son was residing in their program putting in the work that’s when we would see a difference. So I did it I showed up virtually to every family therapy session. I also got one on one parent therapy sessions. These parent therapy sessions were a game changer. I learned how to parent differently. I learned how to speak to my son. I learned about his diagnosis.. Every child is different, but I grew up that there was only one way to parent and I was wrong! Since my son’s been home, he’s thriving. He’s going to his group therapy every single day in an Outpatient therapy that Newport helped us find in our area before being discharged.
We love each other, and we speak to each other with respect. I actually never thought that my son and his stepfather would ever have a healthy relationship and their relationship seems better than my own with my son. It has blown me away and the staff At Newport, not only exceeding my expectation, but saved my family. I hope whoever reading this knows I’m not blowing smoke. I am a real person with a real family that desperately needed help and when I sent my son to Newport and I followed all their instructions we got more help than I ever expected. I’m bad at explaining in words exactly what they did for us, but I encourage you to pray about it if your child is going through something and I also want to assure you, my son was safe and he came home happy and healthy for the first time in his life.
