I was referred to Hospital for Special Care for chronic back pain and was assigned to two physical therapists, Catherine Baker and Aileen Penta. Catherine did evaluations and recommended exercises to ease my pain and a treatment plan at the fitness center. My next appointment was with Aileen. She checked my mobility and manipulated my back muscles. She recommended exercises for me to do at home. I also had therapy lessons in the aquatic pool.Because of these two physical therapists, my back pain is considerable better. Aileen and Catherine are true professionals. Their knowledge is limitless. I was truly fortunate to have these two professionals practicing at your facility. HFSC is the best! Thanks again to Catherine and AileenRichard Dignazio

These more recent reviews are really bothersome. But I think I know why.Look, in early 2015, this place literally saved my life. I just completely cracked in half one day, mentally, and was on the verge of suicide. I missed ten weeks of work on FMLA. But between intensive outpatient work, medication management, and solid follow-up, I returned to a normal life in a few months. That said: the four or five key people in my recovery (Social workers, psych PA, MD, prescription manager etc) no longer work there. They dropped like flies, one-by-one, all going to other practices, one as far as Florida.Granted the information I have is anecdotal, but the turnover here since, let's say 2018, has probably made things worse. And then the pandemic made healthcare in America worse as a whole because it exposed us as a nation of 330 million narcissists, half of whom can't heed simple medical advice. So I think things have changed here. That's too bad. But a decade ago, I was downright eager to come here...

If your sick/dying mother needs to use bathroom with assistance you'll have to wait until they unfortunately soil themselves, every time to get any assistance. This place has become one of the worst hospitals in history. If I put 1 star the review will never post. The drs have no clue how to communicate with each other, and if u need hospice, that wasnt approved yet they'll call you every morning to tell you; word for word; well your mother can't stay here forever, haha... I could not make this up. N5 floor is the worst nursing staff.

We had to send my daughter to Newport after it was recommended by an acute place that she needed residential and longer treatment than acute care. I didn t have the best impression when I first contacted them. I was mislead and thought I could pay a certain amount to send her closest to us in the Charlotte location but turned out that was not accurate and had to send her to the Connecticut location. Then reading the Google reviews scared us. That s why I wanted to share my experience. My daughter was in the dragonfly group. Everyone was truly amazing. Alexa was always in constant communication with us. She was our family therapist and dealt with all our concerns. She was always there for us when we needed her. Her teacher Tea was in constant communication with my daughter s school and us. My daughter clicked with her personal therapist Amy which helped my daughter a lot. Lisa her roomSupervisor was great with dealing with issues. She got sick a few times and was well taken care of. This place never made my daughter feelinstitutionalized. She enjoyed her MMA and equine therapy. They took them offsite for allDifferent activities including church. When it snowed they went outside and went sledding and snowball fights. All the assistants and aids were so friendly and caring. My daughter truly loved being at Newport and because of them my daughter is on a good healing path. I felt so comfortable with her being so far away. I would highly recommend this place to someone with a child that needed help.
