About SalusCare

SalusCare – Evans Campus, located in Fort Myers, Florida, is one of those behavioral health centers that really impressed me from the start. They offer a full continuum of care for children, youth and adults impacted by the negative effects of drug and alcohol abuse. They’ll treat you with residential care, outpatient care or if you need an inpatient center to detox safely. They offer medication assisted treatment for their detox service, too. They are a dual diagnosis center and treat anyone with related mental health conditions that stem from their drug or alcohol use. Their residential program offers a short term option in a 20 bed coed environment, and their Transitional Care Program operates in a 14 bed women’s transitional house and a 16 bed men’s transitional house.

Their programs for youth focus on the individual, helping them with emotional regulation and anger management. These two lessons can be very helpful with children and young adults. They also offer individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy. You’ll also benefit from vocational and educational skills training.

For people looking for Sober Living options in the Southwest Florida area, I highly recommend SalusCare. They came through in a pinch for me when I stepped down from residential treatment at the Hazelden/Betty Ford Clinic in Naples.I had made arrangements to step down into sober living in Naples as my next step on the path to recovery. As you may or may not be aware, there is a huge recovery community in Naples, and the sober living options are often full with waitlists. I was originally scheduled to step down at the end of my stay to a recovery house system in Naples, but they gave my slot away on my day of discharge.I was forced to scramble to find a place, and looked a little further up the state on Ft. Myers. That is how I learned about SalusCare. The staff is fantastic, holding weekly community meetings for residents to check in and let people know what kind of help or support they might need. They can also connect clients with medical providers and help develop a plan to lead to lasting sobriety. The units in the SoberLiving portion of the facility are modern, clean and neat.At first I was a little hesitant, but the staff s attention to detail and eagerness to help saw me take my next step towards sobriety and into sober living within 24 hours of contacting them.I have been matched with a great set of roommates, and it is a nice step to kind of retrain as far as job assistance, cooking and cleaning all the necessary life skills needed to ensure continued sobriety. They are also conveniently located near a number of 12-step meetings and Grace Church is a short walk away with plenty of opportunities to volunteer and give back to the community.I gave SalusCare 5 stars the only reason being was that I couldn t give 6.If you are looking for a sober living environment, I highly recommend SalusCare.

I like Salus care as my new Mental Health Place I wanted to update my review and give a few peices of helpful advice: I nicknamed My Psychitrist DR Joseph Flask Dwarf in the Flask from Fullmetal Alchemist Manga and Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood Anime. I finally got the help I needed from my Psychitrist, I highly recommend Dr Joseph if you live in Cape Coral Florida or Fort Myers Florida as I feel like I can trust people again in my life. I'm a very complex case mentally and Physically being a Mentally and Physically Disabled person isn't easy by the way and i wanted to mention that I'm a healthcare Advocate for an end of life Paitent and I've been going through alot emotionally and sometimes i have to come here to get my meds adjustmeted or refilled because I work long hours and being without my lifesaving maitence meds is a nightmare, Joseph Flask is a very nice doctor and he actually takes the time to listen this alone shows that he cares, and he understands that i run out of my meds sometimes, he looks and me and gets to work on fixing any issue that I have with my meds or treatment plan, he's the only the second Psychitrist I've ever trusted in my entire life of 25 years, Although in Fort Myers Saluscare Psych hospital have really really stiff and uncomfortable beds that need to be updated so they don't destroy your back everytime you sleep on them. If you sleep on those beds no kidding that'll put your back out of place for a month and you'll need to go see a chiropractor for a while, I also saw Guy there named Paul at the Salus care Psych hospital he's pretty nice I also recommend having a chat with him while your in the Psych hospital because he actually takes the time to listen to you because while your in there you might as well make the best of the situation your in whatever that might be even if your homelessness and out on the streets, I know because I originally came from Michigan before coming to Florida was homeless for about a week moving up and down state lines, when I came here they gave me what I needed which was medication and a place to get the horrible feelings mentally I had out of my mind because if I didn't have I would have been homeless again due to unfortunate circumstances within less then a year of moving to Florida for nesscisary relocation. If anyone here ever treats you like dirt talk to the people here that you have the most faith and trust in and if you don't trust them consider switching providers to someone like Joseph Flask who is a Decent Psychitrist especially if your mentally hurt and are a homeless person who needs a little help. These are Words from a Truth Traveler.

Accepted Insurance

SalusCare works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Therapy Services consist of voluntary therapy and counseling, in both individual and group settings, for those with a mental health or substance abuse diagnosis. Before beginning outpatient therapy, an assessment must be conducted to determine the appropriate level of care. After the assessment, a clinician will review your treatment options and work with you and your family to find the best possible option. Outpatient Therapy is provided at the Evans Campus, Ortiz Campus, and Cape Coral Campus.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients typically choose inpatient rehab when they are in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that puts them at an increased risk of relapse. They reside at the treatment center for the length of their program, which may range from two weeks to more than 18 months, depending on the program design. Intensive psychotherapy is often the primary treatment modality, but clients in inpatient care may also receive holistic treatment and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) involve frequent and robust therapeutic sessions for clients requiring high-level care. Clients may engage in a combination of medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction counseling, recovery skills training, and holistic therapies for a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 hours per week. Intensive outpatient rehab is designed primarily for persons in early recovery, those exiting detox or inpatient care, and those at an elevated relapse risk.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
The TLC (Transitional Living Center) is a 16-bed co-ed substance abuse residential treatment program for adults utilizing an intensive, therapeutic and educational program, emphasizing individualized treatment. This program emphasizes family and other interpersonal relations, which are necessary for a healthy recovery. SalusCare residential treatment programs are also equipped to address co-occurring mental health diagnoses. For more information, contact the Transitional Living Campus.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Detoxification Services is an inpatient 29-bed facility, under the direction of a physician, and serves adults undergoing acute withdrawal from alcohol and/or drugs. Detoxification Services are available 24/7 in the only detoxification facility in Lee, Glades, and Hendry counties. Duration of care ranges from 3 to 10 days, depending upon the severity of the withdrawal symptoms. Our facility is located near a major hospital, which is available for any critical physical complications. Located at the SalusCare Evans Avenue Campus.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

Group therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for people in Florida who are struggling with drug addiction. There you can openly discuss the challenges and progress you're making without fear of judgment from your peers who experience many of the same things you are.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This was my experience with them in 2023: DO NOT let them pair you with Stephanie Drafts Pellegrino. She literally spoke to me for 40 minutes (our first meeting) and immediately said i was full blown manic because I was talking a lot (I’m sorry i thought that’s the whole point of meeting with you??). She prescribes me the highest dose of Risperidone to treat my so called bipolar but almost exactly 4 weeks after i began taking it, I experienced full body spasms and had to immediately go to the ER because i thought i was or was about to have a seizure. Jump to the present day, multiple medical professionals agreed and i had a full psychological test done that turns out i don’t have bipolar but ADHD coupled with Anxiety and depression. In their mission to not over diagnose ADHD (in reality they don’t want to prescribe the medication to treat it) they misdiagnosed people and pump them full of antidepressants and antipsychotics like Risperidone. Stephanie nearly killed me due to her incompetence by diagnosing WAY too quickly and prescribing the wrong medication at WAY too high a dose. I don’t even fully blame her as I’m sure this is how Saluscare as a whole is run and for that Dr. Aslam, the CMO in charge of overseeing everything related to treatment, is responsible.

I met with Dr. Aho for six months to one year during a transitional period in my life. She kept me "homeostasis" on my previous regimen of meds, which I appreciated because I felt that the meds were working for me. She does not seem to promote radical changes, and takes a "let's see how this works or goes" approach. Diagnoses could have been more accurate.

It was absolutely terrible I had to wait almost 5 hours in the waiting room while the nurses were gossiping and laughing during it all,and the beds were as hard as stale bread.the beds in the waiting room we're way better and when I had actually been checked in the staff were already yelling at me and I was provided no pillow.the staff didn't care at all as we had no group and were just forced outside,we did no therapy at all and the staff just put on tv.the other kids helped me better than the staff.and when a kid was having a panic attack all they did was booty juice them, but Samantha I believe her name was,was the only one who cared as she came up to me personally to check on me,but for the rest of the staff especially the old one with red hair they should be ashamed of themselves as this was supposed to "help" it only made things worse and gave me more trauma you guys should shut down honestly you don't deserve to be open,There were so much more like when I first got there all the staff were rude and gave everyone attitude, like when I asked when phone calls were she said well calll you whem its time and to stop asking questions.and they created a very uncomfortable envierment.i wasnt even giben my clothes that my mom dropped off for me and then they got mad that i disnt have cloths it was only until vusitiing when my mom confronted the nurse that they gave me my cloths and there excuse was that it wasnt labled even after my mom repeadely told them who it was for, overall please dobt sebf snyone here because how did the officer do a better job then you its absolutely shamefull and i hope you guys close down

Extremely frustrated with this office. I arrived before my appointment and noticed the front desk was engaging with another patient, so I quickly used the restroom, and that same patient was finishing up when I walked up to the counter. It was still before my scheduled appointment time by about 5 minutes, but check-in failed because they marked me as a no-show.. what? Was I supposed to push the other patient out of the way? I was still there before my scheduled time so there’s no valid reason to be told to have a seat as a walk-in when I waited 2 months+ for this appointment. Completely ridiculous.
