The Prairie will always hold a special place in my heart. From day one, I felt seen, supported, and cared for in a way I can’t fully describe. The staff went above and beyond every single day, and the owners set the tone by creating a place that feels safe, hopeful, and healing. What made it so powerful wasn’t just the treatment itself, but the way they involved my family and helped us start to heal together. The lessons, tools, and encouragement I received there continue to shape my life almost three years later. I’ll never be able to express all the gratitude I have for The Prairie. It’s not an exaggeration to say this place gave me my life back and gave my family a healthier, stronger version of me.

The Prairie truly changed our family’s life. Nearly three years ago, my husband entered their program after multiple stays at other rehabs that never seemed to stick. From the start, it was clear that The Prairie is different—they genuinely care about getting to the root of the issues, involving families in the recovery process, and providing aftercare plans that support lasting, lifelong change. The Prairie helped save my husband’s life at a time when we had nowhere else to turn. We will forever be grateful for the work they do and the lasting impact they’ve made on the trajectory of our lives. Today, my husband is thriving in recovery and pursuing a career as a licensed professional counselor to help others—a direct reflection of the hope and transformation The Prairie made possible. If you or your loved one is searching for real, lasting recovery, The Prairie is the place that can truly make it happen.

Blissful escape for a month if you take advantage of your surroundings and put in the work. Cottages are amazing, laundry is taken care of and food is great. They listen. Easy to forget you are in rehab. Tyler, one of the therapists, MAKES THIS PLACE WHAT IT IS. Worth it just for his sessions. (Also he is easy on the eyes). Only downfall in my opinion is the occasional gossip among staff within an earshot of clients in the lunchroom. Had a negative affect on the group for sure. The beauty and serenity of this place is wildly underutilized - instead of bingo, I suggest a counselor led hike or outdoor activity. Advice - hire PCA's who love it there and truly care (a few of them didn't). SHOUT OUT TO MERCEDES AND MELANIE!!!!!!!! love y'all. Hope I never have to go back to rehab but this would be my choice.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Ridding the body of harmful, addictive substances, also known as detoxification, is usually the first phase of recovery. Those going through medically assisted detox can be administered medications by a team of medical professionals who are on-site 24/7 to provide different types of therapies that help mitigate withdrawal symptoms.

Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.

Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

Treatments

Alcoholism occurs when a person becomes physically and psychologically dependent on alcohol. Attending a professional alcohol rehab in Texas can provide customized intervention methods to address the physical, mental, and relational challenges of addiction.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Texas's specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs prioritize comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs offer diverse levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Evidence-based therapies, trauma-informed care, group work, and educational workshops help treat both conditions at the same time and give you the tools to sustain mental health and sobriety.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

I’d like to thank The Prairie for setting my son up for success in his recovery. He was understandably nervous about going there for many reasons. However, those nerves were settled by the compassionate, welcoming staff that was there upon his arrival. His accommodations were very comfortable, especially the delicious food prepared by the five-star on-site chef. His counselor was empathetic to his struggles. She both listened to his story and offered practical suggestions on how to overcome his obstacles. He was able to participate in many fun activities, as well. This was vital to helping him realize that life is enjoyable without drugs or alcohol. The staff psychiatrist was knowledgeable and her family groups educated me on the physical, psychological, and spiritual components of addiction. I am forever thankful for the hope that The Prairie gave my son and my family.
