I've gratefully been sober since being a patient at The Prairie in 2023, and I'm forever appreciative to the owners and staff for their wholistic approach to treatment, which was life changing for me. I didn't know therapy could work until my stay here -- the therapists were exceptional! General support has continued since treatment: The alumni coordinator remained in touch to keep patients connected, notifying us of the quarterly bonfires and other sober event and/or retreat opportunities. Also worth mentioning is that the meals were delicious (and they accommodate various dietary needs), the beds were super comfy, and the landscape and vistas were breathtaking and soul soothing -- literally some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets I've ever seen! They also have a few furry and feathered residents onsite -- always therapeutic to have those around! While my ongoing sobriety is a testament to the recovery actions I’ve committed to since leaving The Prairie, I wholeheartedly attribute the restoration of my sense of self and self-love to the incredible therapists and nurturing environment (including all nurse, kitchen, and support staff) at The Prairie. Forever grateful to you all!

Accepted Insurance

The Prairie Recovery Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Ridding the body of harmful, addictive substances, also known as detoxification, is usually the first phase of recovery. Those going through medically assisted detox can be administered medications by a team of medical professionals who are on-site 24/7 to provide different types of therapies that help mitigate withdrawal symptoms.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

Treatments

Alcoholism occurs when a person becomes physically and psychologically dependent on alcohol. Attending a professional alcohol rehab in Texas can provide customized intervention methods to address the physical, mental, and relational challenges of addiction.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Texas's specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs prioritize comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs offer diverse levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Evidence-based therapies, trauma-informed care, group work, and educational workshops help treat both conditions at the same time and give you the tools to sustain mental health and sobriety.

Programs

They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

The Prairie Recovery Center is unlike other facilities. Their comprehensive approach to healing the whole person (vs. "fixing") is evident through the many people I've seen enter and leave their program, able to maintain sobriety and live a healthy life in recovery. Love and compassion for their clients is foundational to their work across the board, from the facilities staff all the way to clinical and everyone in between. They offer exposure to a wide range of modalities and tools for recovery that help facilitate people finding the approach that works best for them.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you for your thoughtful words! We're so glad our holistic approach and compassionate care resonate with you. It’s our mission to support each individual in finding their unique path to lasting recovery. Your kind feedback means so much to us!

The Prairie Recovery Center has been a true sanctuary in my healing journey. From inpatient rehab to IOP/SOP aftercare and now ongoing group therapy, this place has offered me compassionate, insightful, and deeply meaningful support every step of the way. The level of care here goes far beyond clinical—it’s grounded in humanity, connection, and real transformation. A heartfelt thank you to Robert Hiliker, whose vision and presence have been profoundly grounding, and to Will Davis, whose wisdom and authenticity have been instrumental in my growth. Their leadership sets the tone for a truly unique healing environment. I’m beyond grateful for The Prairie. It has helped me reclaim my life with clarity, integrity, and love.

Would recommend to anyone seeking help with addiction. The level of care I received in my 45 day stay was expansive and holistic. I learned more about my addiction and the underlying issues in order to live a life in recovery. The therapists, nurses, and all staff worked together to help me heal. I am immensely grateful for the care I received at the prairie, and continue to stay sober because of this magical place.

I attended The Prairie summer 2020 for substance abuse and to deal with the Grief from the death of my Wife. The facilities were very comfortable and the Clinical Staff was top notch. I especially appreciated their attention to physical health. The meals were health and tasty. They have good exercise equipment and bring in Trainers and Yoga instructors several times a week. What separates this facility with other treatment centers i have attended in the past (unfortunately this was not my first attempt) is their attention to aftercare. After my inpatient stay I attended their outpatient program, and continue to participate in their Alumni Program. The Prairie does a great job working with their clients as they transition back into their everyday life. I would highly recommend them to anyone struggling with substance abuse and / or mental health issues. In fact, I have recommended them to several friends and colleagues. I am still in contact with several people who were in my cohort over four years ago, and they are still sober and doing well: A great testament to the services they offer.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:

There really is not words to describe the experience, safety, and opportunity for progress that is provided at this treatment center. The staff are not just there for a paycheck, every single one of them care. I love that it is not a completely 12 step based program, that we are introduced to multiple other pathways to sobriety such as SMART and Refuge Recovery. The housekeeping staff maintains your clothes and area, allowing you to focus on your self and healing, and they do a great job of it. The therapists are phenomenal and I really liked that you are allowed keep your electronic devices. If you are ready for a change, this is the place to go! Don’t waste time you are worth it!

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience with us! With recovery, there is no one solution, which is why different programs have been developed in order to adhere to the uniqueness humans possess. The Prairie acknowledges this fact by incorporating different meetings for the clients to attend. One has to be open and willing to attend these meetings, even if they conflict with deeply rooted ideologies, in order to expand their options for recovery communities. The classes at the Prairie are informative, tedious, and interactive. Participation cannot be forced, but it is encouraged; thinking cannot be taught, but it can be guided. The group leaders, often time the therapists, are all unique and have their own experience. Their styles of teaching are different, some will draw you in more than others, but their end goal is always the same: to share something that will help clients in their recovery. What sets the Prairie apart from other treatment centers is the integration of Cuatros (essentially guided topics separated by the seasons put together by Robert - one of the owners) and Pilgrimage (three days of intense therapeutic and spiritual work led by one of the therapists). Pilgrimage is what truly saved my soul. Tyler Ward, the therapist who leads Pilgrimage, is a dedicated and thoughtful man, walking clients through transformative spiritual and shadow work. He is a very unique and genuine person. Through Pilgrimage, I connected with the life around me, finding appreciation and gratitude for being a human. No one forced me to try this intense process, my therapist merely suggested it, but my desire to take advantage of this unique opportunity outweighed my stubbornness. One thing that makes or breaks treatment is how the PCAs treat clients. Having been one myself, I had high expectations and a strong ability to criticise, however it was rarely needed during my time at the Prairie. The PCAs are just as human as everyone else. One does not work in this line of work for the fun of it. These PCAs are loving, genuine, honest, beautiful, and committed. The love, gratitude, and respect I have for them all is immense. Despite the rapport built, they weren’t afraid of setting boundaries, because, truly, the safety of other clients and themselves outweighed their human desire to be liked - and that makes a great PCA. I’ve been blessed with a stable set of meds that have kept me level-headed. Daily, I’d go get them from nursing, and evert nurse was so kind as to make conversation and ensure I was alright. They were efficient, accurate, and took me seriously. They truly do care and do their best, you can tell they love their jobs and the clients. They weren’t just nurses, they were part of our support system at the Prairie, always taking the time to treat us like human beings. With discharge planning, Summer Smith did her utmost best to stress the importance of a plan and community. Personally, I did not take advantage of the discharge planning, I truly flew blind, and have suffered the consequences. Despite not taking all her suggestions, she has continued to be a vital part in helping me remain in the community. Alumni meetings, the quarterly bonfire, and 30-60-90 day calls keep me in the game. She’s always without judgement and is so willing to be helpful. No one person can determine another’s success. As a client, it is my responsibility to participate in every part of the program the Prairie provides, which I almost did. Am I going to fail for being imperfect? No, because another thing the Prairie provides is a fellowship. I’m not going to fail because from every clinician and staff member, every interaction, and every opportunity, I learned something. I’ve added so much to my program and hold a lot of gratitude to have been able to attend this program.
