I am so incredibly grateful for my time at the Ridge! I want to clarify, though, that it wasn't the Ridge itself that helped me. It was solely 100% my group/recovery therapist, Amanda. There aren't any words I can type that could even begin to describe just how gifted and wonderful Amanda is as a therapist. As an adult in my 30s who has been battling many mental illnesses since childhood, I am no stranger to 1:1 therapy, group therapy, IOP, ect, and in all my years in & out of various treatments, I have NEVER met anyone like Amanda! Her approaches to therapy and recovery are so helpful for life outside of treatment. She provides lifelong skills and tools to help each and every patient to navigate and healthily cope with their symptoms in the "real world." Amanda is 100% empathetic and sincere to each and every one of her patients. She TAKES THE TIME to HEAR US, not just listen to us. And because she genuinely cares, she REMEMBERS what her patients tell here and she ALWAYS is willing to go above and beyond for any one of her patients. She has done so for me more than once and I have seen first hand her do the same for many others. I could attempt to write a novel-length review about my recovery in Amanda's group & it still won't do the actual experience any justice. Being a behavioral therapist was certainly Amanda's calling in life and I can never thank her enough for all she has done for me in the short 5 or 6 weeks I was in the program. And while I cannot speak for any of the drug rehab groups since I was only in a mental health group, I can at least assure you that every singe group is very welcoming, regardless. Any time I would pass by another classroom, I'd see groups working together in various ways, working on their treatment goals and everyone was always calm, respectful, and kind. Now I'm not saying that treatment and recovery at the Ridge is easy or one big, chill party to just pass time until graduation. It takes work. HARD work to recover and learn to implement all of the skills and tools provided at the Ridge. What you put in is truly what you get bac. With that being said, don't be afraid to vulnerable. Of course, way easier said than done, but I promise, you are safe at the Ridge. Especially safe if you are in Amanda's group. Staff will work with you to the absolute best of their abilities to provide you with the greatest care.My only major complaint that truly upsets and angers me is that The Ridge does not allow its group therapists to also provide 1:1 therapy for their patients (something that many other centers do allow). Meaning that, once a patient graduates group therapy, they must continue 1:1 therapy elsewhere, which sucks! I have yet to begin 1:1 therapy, because I don't believe I will find another therapist as wonderful as Amanda. The other issues you may encounter are it the financial department. They are a bit of a hot mess! During treatment, I was told everything was 100% covered, then told nothing at all was covered and I owed 100% of every bill, then as told I only owed the copays, and yet again told I owed 1000s so that part certainly needs improvement, but actual treatment is 5/5 stars, so don't fret any possible financial issues! They will eventually get sorted!THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AMANDA! YOU HELPED SAVE MY LIFE!

Accepted Insurance

The Ridge Behavioral Health System works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided on a six-day per week basis, days and evenings. The Outpatient Treatment offers a psychiatric evaluation, ongoing medication management, an Intensive Outpatient Program, and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The treatment process encourages disclosure, acknowledgement, and acceptance to allow and promote change. Participation and attendance are required and both are critical to your success. Your progress is constantly monitored; more intensive or less intensive treatment will be recommended as needed.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Their Inpatient Treatment offers an intensive therapeutic environment, a board certified psychiatrist/neurologist, a multidisciplinary treatment approach, 24-hour nursing care, a social worker, an activity therapist, a dietitian, family participation, and discharge/aftercare planning.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often beneficial for individuals who don't require 24-hour supervision, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) can be an alternative to inpatient rehab or a transitional option. PHP treatment typically involves 6 to 8 hours of treatment per day, up to 5 days a week for an average of 90 days. PHP treatment often includes relapse prevention strategies, medication management, and other behavioral therapy interventions. While the cost of a partial hospitalization program can vary, it is often covered by insurance.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Kentucky often starts with detox, then includes inpatient or outpatient treatment, and continues with aftercare support. Specific methods used during each of these phases varies, but often include individual and group counseling, medication, and recreational therapies.

The Ridge Recovery Center (RRC) is designed to serve adults over the age of 18 diagnosed with co-occurring disorders. They specialize in the treatment of adults diagnosed with both mental health and substance abuse disorders. In their continued efforts to provide the best possible care for their patients, they have extended the length of their Ridge Recovery Center program to up to 28 days so patients can transition from initial detoxification and stabilization to Inpatient Rehabilitation at The Ridge.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

For those struggling with treatment resistant depression, mania, and other forms of mental illness, ECT (Electro-Convulsive Therapy) is available at The Ridge Behavioral Health System. Led by their ECT Medical Director, Dr. David Shraberg and the use of state of the art technology, their ECT Treatment Team will provide patients with an effective treatment program that brings hope and relief of their symptoms.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

I was a patient there on the adult unit, Unit 1, for "suicidal ideations". I self admitted because i had been using a substance, and during the admissions process it was very clear i was intoxicated. The first night wasnt so bad. The morning after, I was told no one dropped off my clothes, but they did have my cigarettes. I had to call my boyfriend to ask him if he did, and he did they made him put it in a brown bag in front of him. When shower time comes around, i dont have body wash. They do not supply body wash to those who need it. At least not to me, the entire stay there they said they were out and i had to use the "hand pump" (as in the hand soap dispenser on the wall) i let them know that that they treated their patients like crap and thankfully another patient let me use some of hers. My shower (Room 108) was infested with knats and bugs, the toilet seat was insanely stained. The groups felt very unstructured, they only give handouts and markers and call it a day. At some point a man came in to discuss narcan saftey and said we will get a box of narcan when we were discharged, I never receieved it. There is no therapist there to help you process why you got there in the first place, only a doctor/nurse practitioner that speak to you for less than 2 minutes holding a clipboard in the same room as everybody else. And while the entire time i was there they never drew my blood, they even gave me someone elses blood work paperwork. !BIG RED FLAGS! & THEY VIOLATED HIPPA !! I will NOT recommend this to anybody having a hard time. This place is insanely Awful in regards to treatment and support. Very neglectful on their end.

I can’t say enough great things about Nurse Megan and Tech Kaylee at The Ridge! Their teamwork, compassion, and professionalism are truly outstanding. Megan brings such a calming and confident presence—she makes you feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for. Kaylee is equally amazing, always kind, attentive, and quick to lend a hand with a warm smile. Together, they create a comforting and supportive environment that makes a huge difference during tough moments. The Ridge is lucky to have such dedicated and compassionate caregivers. Highly recommend!

My child got admitted on a Friday morning like at 3 am we were there for like 4pr 5 hours before everything was done. I didn’t hear from a doctor or nurse or therapist until my child was there after a week. I called over and over leaving messages and still no one reached out to me. I did finally leave a message with the patient advocate and she did call me back she was very nice and apologetic. After I told her what was going on a doctor finally called. Also there was 1 time I called asked to talk to nurse about my child and they did not ask me for the patient id number. And everyday I can call about ur kid at 12-1 everyday and 97%of the time they couldn’t answer the question like simple questions…did my child eat breakfast? How did my child sleep? They had no clue. Also it’s super hard to get ahold of anyone out there. Also phone calls are 7-8 and sometime my child didn’t call me till 10. So I never knew when my kid would call. Also my child learned nothing it didn’t help them . So my kid came out how they went in . My kid was there over 20 days and nothing was accomplished Im not blaming them for the action of my kid . Cause my child has things they need to work on. Also when it was discharged time I found a vape in my child’s bag they didn’t even throw it away they kept end it in there so she would have it after they get out. I showed the discharge nurse and she say oh they should of thrown that away. So my kid will not come back here if I have different options. And visitation starts at 6:45 on Saturday and they don’t bring u back for visitation to start until Well after 7. There’s no where to sit the waiting room is super small .. so moral of the story. U might be disappointed. Sorry also want to add that the doctor said he wanted to put my child on medication and asked if it was ok and I told him in do not want my kid on that medication cause it causes diabetes. And he did it anyways also I said I wanted to keep my kid on 1 particular medication and asked soon as he got off phone he took my child off of it. So asking my permission was pointless.. I could make other complaints but I think it would last forever.

After being in a crucial negative mindset needing help. I reached out to the Ridge as a last cry. I figured they would abandoned me like the VA and just give me some generalized diagnosis and push me out with me being worse than I was going in. I never do any reviews from the first day to the last staff went out of there way to help. I honestly have to say Dr. Greenlee met with me and changed everything. He didn't just push medicine on me and say good luck. He took time to educate me on what I was trying to process. He got literature for me to show me there healing through different methods. He listened to me without one feeling of judgment. After talking to him and letting my family know he has changed the way I see my life. They cannot thank the Ridge and Dr. Greenlee enough. There are not words created to express how Dr. Greenlee has put me on the most amazing path to impact every moment in life. I just don't know how to repay someone for such a life changing revelation.

2 years ago I called this place on my lunch break at work to inquire about treatment. I mentioned I self harmed the night before and was still experiencing urges when they asked. They immediately sent the law enforcement to my work. A potential patient experiencing non-suicidal self harm ideation is not a valid reason to contact law enforcement. I don’t know how I could have explained why I was inquiring about treatment without including that information. I wasn’t able to face going back to that job again after that. I hope this facility improves their protocol so that their employees do not overreact and cause someone the trauma and hardship I faced simply for inquiring about treatment. This experience has left me reluctant to ever reach out for help again when I am struggling.
