Ended up needing medical attention for severe abdominal pain and ended up in the ER for 6+ hours. Doesn’t seem that there is any form of triage. The doctor was in and out of the room in less than 5 mins - no medical history was taken, no inquiry about my current medications. No physical exam done. Gave an oral medication when I was unable to keep anything down. They were really quick to let me leave without telling me the results of my blood work (the nurse told us it had come back) or my CT scan. There was no effort to at least make me more comfortable until I could get in touch with my doctor. Had it not been the middle of the night on a holiday, I would have called my specialist to make an appointment. I had excellent care with EDU Health in the past and this was terribly disappointing.

Dr. Goli and the ER staff were professional and courteous. My husband's pacemaker was diagnosed as malfunctioning, and they assisted us in transferring to the CICU in Greenville. The eleven hour wait for transfer by ambulance, with appropriate resources to treat my husband'scondition, was not pleasant and provoked needless anxiety. This issue needs to be addressed by ECU medical transport services. Thanks again for the care and concern exhibited by the ER staff in Kenansville.

My mother was a patient here about a little under a week ago, when I went to visit , I was greeted by two lovely CNAs named Sara and Hannah. They both did a wonderful job taking care of my mother during her time of illness. They checked on her constantly and answered questions throughly and to the best of their ability. They also treated her as though she were their own family! Wonderful hospitality from all the staff I encountered and from her team of nurses. The doctor was absolutely wonderful as well. I appreciate everything this hospital has done for my mother!

Accepted Insurance

ECU Health Duplin Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

As you can tell I am extremely aggravated. My aggravation does not come from their care, it comes from their billing. In all my time if I have had a bill, I have either paid it off in full as soon as I get it or set up a payment plan and have never missed a payment. I previously had a bill I had a payment plan on paying $200 every month, then ended up with another bill which upped my balance due. When this happened they wanted to change my payment plan for the new amount due to an ridiculous amount monthly that i am unable to pay. When i called billing to see what we could work out and was their any way I could just keep my $200 a month, I was told no. Then I asked what my other options were. I was told ì could cancel my payment plan all together and then just call or go online every month and pay any amount I could on the account so nothing negative would be done on their end to the account. The person said they would note in my account that I would continue to make my same $200 payment on the same 28th day of every month so anyone who looked at my account would know and all would be right in the world. Since making my own online payment on May 28th of this year, I have constantly received calls, texts and emails about the balance due on my account. They went so far as to send me something this month saying I needed to do something about my account so it did not end up in collections. Are you serious???? If you stopped my monthly automatic payments but then allowed me this opportunity to continue to make my same payment every month, just me doing it instead of you doing it, now I have to get these harassing communications from them. Why couldn't they just leave my automatic payment stay in place? I know it may not be the amount they wanted me to pay but if I am willing and able to make the same payment every month, which they have proof in my account that I can, why wouldn't they be willing to work with me instead of changing things up and now harassing me ALL THE TIME??? Sincerely absolutely aggravated ECU Health Patient
