I went in for an induction to have my first baby and ended up staying for 4 days. Every nurse who took care of me was so kind, patient, and caring throughout my entire stay. They always made me feel comfortable and supported, even during the harder moments. My midwife was absolutely amazing as well. She was so sweet and took the time to explain everything that was happening and kept me informed every step of the way. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience, especially being a first-time mom. I’m so grateful for everyone at UNC Health Wayne who helped make such an important and special moment in my life such a positive experience. I will always remember the kindness and care I received there. I highly recommend this hospital and the wonderful staff! And for last I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who signed on my congratulations card that was sent to me a couple days after getting discharged. He ended up staying the entire week of our vacation in the hospital with surgery on top of it. He was treated so incredibly well. All of the nurses and doctors were so kind and caring. Our vacation was a bust but I truly believe they saved my husband's life. We would have not gotten this level of care in St. Louis. Holly Bedsworth 1 month ago I was an overnight patient on August 20 for observation after a procedure. All employees I came into contact with were great. Including the security guard on the entry door. Attention to detail was obvious in every aspect of my stay. I was prossessed in smoothly. Care after my procedure was attentive. My stay on the second floor, room 239, continued to be top notch. One observation noted was an additional amount of interest and concern for sanitation and cleanliness. Ordering meals was greatly improved by quick delivery after placing the order. Also, if able, you are no longer required to wait on a wheelchair when departing. You can walk to the front door with a hospital staff member. A big deal for me! Thanks to each section who’s hospital staff served me and made an unpleasant situation enjoyable. Godspeed! PS: I noticed your Google ratings before contributing my review. There are lots of unhappy, disgruntled and angry people everywhere you go. They made me feel loved, supported, understood, validated, and most importantly, they made me feel worthy. I cannot say enough good things about my time there. A lot of negativity in the reviews but I sincerely did not share that experience. I was ready for a change....I was 38 years old, pregnant, a very heavy Daily IV drug user of meth and heroin, who was homeless and completely lost to the game. I was, in effect, committing extreme acts of abuse on my unborn child every single time I pushed off another speedball, although i convinced myself it wasnt the case. I didnt realize I was even pregnant until i was almost 5 months and continued in my use for another month and a half before considering treatment. I didnt deserve the love and care that those selfless women afforded me yet they gave it willingly and without judgement. They reached me, in a way that hadnt happened for me before and I will never forget their fortitude. Miss Tammy, Miss Sonya, Miss Jannelle, Miss Portia (she's tough but once you show her you are serious, she will give everything to help you succeed) and the rest of the staff that was there in 2017 is the best part of that program. Keep in mind that this is a state funded facility that is offered to these complaining women in the other reviews their own fully furnished apartment FREE OF CHARGE for up to a year and a half if it is needed. It grants these women the ability to bond with the children they neglected in their drug use and the opportunity to reunify the family once they reach successful completion of the program. They are not locked in their apartments like criminals, they are encouraged to take their children out to play or be outside in designated spaces to be with their kids. No they cannot interact with the other women or their children in the program because they are there to get sober and be mothers to their kids. That should be all they are concerned with...not whether they have cable or freaking Netflix to watch or ruminating on the very strategic and well placed rules of the program. I had zero problem complying with what was asked of me in returtn for the security that was provided me by the program. ZERO. In fact, I thrived in that place. When it was time for me to move on, I literally didnt want to go because i was that content there. The situation is purely what you make of it, If you perceive it as a threat before you even give yourself a chance you are inevitably going to fail. If you are like I was and desperate for a different way the chances of success are almost guaranteed if you surrender yourself to the idea of trying something new. Tough love is just love with its work boots on. i HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM FOR ANY WOMAN WITH CHILDREN IN SEARCH OF A STEPPING STONE TOWARDS A BETTER LIFE. I have 14 months clean. It saved me from drugs and my mental health. The staff was wonderful. I give back by going up there and speak sometimes. If you need help please go up there. They really care. The food is plentiful and tastes decent, they provide 2 meaks a day plus 3 snacks, the rooms are 2 person rooms but they try to give you a room by yourself if possible, the place is clean and the staff are kind and professional, slept great and most folks are given valium for the first few days which of course makes the detox process as comfortable as possible. I did the detox did not go to unit 5(the rehab unit). Good place I highly recommend 👍 Frankthezenguy 11 months ago The head doctor there pissed me off and I love him for it! I checked myself in not knowing I was committing to a minimum of 72 hours. Once admitted, you are stuck for 72 hours. You have to sign a waiver stating you release them of liability if you leave before they release you. I was furious when I found out and immediately signed the release so the clock would start. The next morning I woke at 6-7 am with the doctor and a few others standing in my room. He said “ You have a chance to beat this if you give me time to wean you off alcohol. If you leave too soon you will probably have severe withdrawals and drink again. Give me more time to care for you properly. You have my word that I will get you discharged as soon as possible.” I agreed. I felt frustrated and stuck, but I stayed. I thank God I did! Today I am 43 days sober. 45 days ago I didn’t know if I could get sober and make it stick. If I had left too soon, who knows what would’ve happened? The staff was amazing. One of the nurses (a blonde lady) was quite rude and seemed to only be there for a check. The rest were amazing. I can imagine dealing with a bunch of us going through a mental and emotional roller coaster has to be frustrating for them, yet they seem to really enjoy their work and seem to care about you. If you need help, these people are great. Their program works if you stay and work with them. Give them the time needed to help you. Also make sure you have support when you leave. I chose AA and it has made all the difference. Treat sobriety like your life depends on it because it does. Get to a meeting daily. Until you have a solid foundation, nothing else matters anyway. I must saying was not happy about going into this. With that being said I have to say the staff was so amazing. They also tried to take the time to hear my concerns. They did stay very busy so they couldn't answer right away but that is to be expected with two to three nurses and upto four tech every shift to deal with 20 patients. They always made sure we knew they cared. They would keep us out of the rooms for majority of the day to attend groups and other activities to help everyone to learn new ways to handle our depression or anger. They alound us to watch movies and go outside to get fresh air. We even go to go into the gym to get exercise. Alo art as well. By pushing me to not just lay which if I had i would of just thought negative things. I learn so many different coping skills. If we felt like our medicine was not working the way it needed to they alway looked into a better medicine that would work. The only bad thing I have to say about this hospital is they need a better lactose intolerant menu but for the most part the food was good. Because this place help me so much I have decided to go back to school and get my ged and become a nurse and hopefully get to work at this place and help others just like me. I do want o make it clear they never made anyone sleep on the floor and the unit was always clean. So I would like to give a shout out to 2 west unit yall are so amazing each of you that worked with me thank you from the bottom of my heart just thank you for actually caring. I know people will look at negative reviews but I truly encourage people to give this place a chance. The staff are kind, empathetic, and truly do their best. Like any treatment facility there were some bumps in the road and small issues. I just had to stay open minded and calm. I got to see a provider every day who actually listened to what medications I wanted to be on, my meds were always accurate and given on time. I had daily phone calls and we went outside often. The meals were healthy (and actually quite good) and the sense of community here is incredible. Appointments moved along once we were called back and the providers listened without rushing the visit. The clinic itself is clean and easy to find on Henderson Drive. For routine outpatient needs this location gets the job done and the people who work there clearly understand the veteran population they serve. The experience was good overall but not perfect. Wait times in the lobby ran longer than expected and check in took extra time because of the usual paperwork and verification steps. Scheduling a follow up required patience and a couple of calls before everything lined up. Parking was available yet the lot filled quickly during peak hours which added stress before the appointment even started. None of that ruined the visit but it kept the day from feeling smooth from start to finish. Clinical staff and nurses were professional and courteous. Questions received clear answers and the plan of care made sense. I never felt dismissed or talked down to which matters a great deal in a VA setting. The facility layout is straightforward and signage helps once you are inside. Support staff at the desk stayed polite even when the waiting room got busy. That attitude goes a long way when the system itself can feel slow. I would return here for outpatient care and I would recommend it to other veterans in the Jacksonville area. The quality of the actual visit is strong enough to earn four stars. The gaps are mostly in wait times parking and the extra steps it takes to lock in appointments. If those pieces improved this clinic would be an easy five. As it stands the care and the people make it a reliable local option even if the process around the visit still has room to get better. Many of the employees are Veterans themselves, or married to one, or have a close relative that is a Veteran. There have now been a total of four times that they because of their attention to the veteran and genuine concern they have saved my life. I think the world of my current Primary Physician and his team. The truth is I've been there when some of those who wrote negative reviews have been there. Put simply, how one treats those that serve often determines the attitude they perceive as coming from the one trying to do their job and help them. A little kindness and courtesy means a lot to the crew who are doing their best. And that's the point... THEY are doing their best... and compared to what we had not so long ago in the old converted gas station on Hargett Street, the old clinic... we all should be thankful.
