About Anka Behavioral Health, Inc.
Anka Behavioral Health was located in Pleasant Hills, California, but permanently closed in 2019. They had residential facilities for folks with developmental disabilities and concerns about substance misuse.
Pleasant Hills is a family-friendly East Bay suburb known as the Bay Area’s Backyard. There’s a relaxed suburban feel with a walkable downtown built in 2000, featuring popular dining and theaters. Home to Diablo Valley College, the area is a popular spot for commuters to San Francisco.
Range of Inpatient & Outpatient Behavioral Health Services
Anchor Behavioral Health provided a range of substance use disorder treatment services alongside behavioral health treatment. While it was historically known for offering outpatient and residential treatment, many of the past patients expressed dissatisfaction with the services and care.
For Veterans and Those in the Criminal Justice System
The facility provided services to adults with severe mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders, including adults who were homeless and those involved with the criminal justice system. Services were also available and tailored to US veterans and individuals transitioning out of institutional settings. It can be particularly difficult to provide services to these vulnerable and complex populations.
Individual & Group Therapy Options
The outpatient clinic had private counseling offices as well as group therapy spaces where you could receive treatment alongside your peers. The focus was on community integration. Anka offered connections to community resources for employment, housing and social services.
They accepted MediCal and some private insurance plans and also accepted patients who were supported by public assistance. Sliding scale options were sometimes available based on your financial needs.
