About Ahwatukee Behavioral Health & Wellness

Ahwatukee Behavioral Health and Wellness is an addiction and mental health treatment organization with two Arizona locations, including this facility in Phoenix. The programs include treatment for alcohol and drug addiction, as well as co occurring mental health disorders.

Addiction Care for All Ages

They treat individuals of all ages, from children to seniors, including pregnant women. They offer medication assisted treatment for eligible clients too, which isn’t always easy to find

The programs are conveniently in network with most major insurance providers. They also accept Medicare and most Medicaid programs. If your insurance is out of network, they may provide you with a superbill for reimbursement. The Phoenix facility is 18 miles from the downtown area and is easily accessible from major roadways.

Restoring Stability in Phoenix

The organization’s mission is to restore stability for their clients and heal relationships damaged by addiction and mental health challenges. The clinicians emphasize that no individual should face addiction or mental health issues on their own. They offer individualized treatment plans because they believe that “no two patients are alike.”

Offering Novel Addiction and Mental Health Treatment Modalities

They use evidence based treatments here but also offer novel treatments for individuals with resistant addiction or mental health conditions. Some less conventional treatments include Esketamine and TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation). They provide symptom relief but also work to identify the underlying causes of individual addiction and mental health issues.

I recently became a patient seen there by Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP, Angela Woodman; she is the best! She is beyond helpful when it comes to answering any of my questions. She was the first Dr to ever tell me about the swab test that gives insight on what antidepressants would or would not work well for my body. If I had been told about that test years ago, my life may have been different. Dr Woodman is friendly, I don't dread out meetings. She is straight to the point but also is actively listening to me and not just looking at me like another patient with life problems. Over the years, I've grown to dislike Dr's/ any person in the medical field so finding someone like Dr Woodman, THANK YOU! My dad has been in the room when i have my appointments and he even told me to stay with her, she is wise in what she does and she doesn't make you (me) feel like you shouldn't ask questions, I can advocate for myself and she listens!!. I will continue to see her and I recommend you all to become a patient of hers. My only BIG complaint, is not due to the Dr, it was the front office personnel, 1 person in particular. I will not divulge this persons name but she really needs to not work in a role where she has to speak with people seeking help due to mental health issues. This person will give you attitude and push back on why you are requesting something from the Dr. Im sorry, but C*, you are not the Dr, you arent the one who is diagnosing patients. - there was an issue with a script I was trying to get filled early and not only did she give me push back on that script, she also told me that she wouldn't relay my message to my Dr until I paid the cash patient payment. So basically she wasn't going to send the Dr a message from one of her patients unless the bill was paid. I don't care if I owed $1 or $1000, telling a patient their concerns won't be addressed until you give a debit card # is insanely unprofessional! She has no clue what EXACTLY I talked to my Dr about and holding an urgency over someone's head, C, you need help and you need to be let go, you by far are the most unprofessional employee I've ever had to deal with!! What you do/did and say, no one should ever be treated the way you treated me during all 4 of our phone call interactions (we spoke 4 times total in the last week or so and it's pretty bad if someone is keeping count of how awful they were treated) HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! **again this is NOT about my Dr at all, my complaint and lack of stars is all due to that ONE SINGLE WOMAN in the office. AND I'M PRETTY SURE You know who you are...**

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Ahwatukee Behavioral Health & Wellness works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Intensive inpatient programs (IOP) offer high-level support for clients in early recovery, those exiting detox or inpatient rehabs, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically includes rigorous individual, group, and family counseling. Evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage, are widely available. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) may be provided. Clients in IOP receive a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week but may engage in up to 20 treatment hours weekly.

Treatments

Alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism and alcohol addiction, is a chronic condition that involves craving alcohol and an inability to control drinking. A person with AUD must drink greater and greater amounts of alcohol to achieve the same effects and experiences withdrawal symptoms if they stop drinking alcohol. Several evidence-based methods are available to treat AUD through alcohol rehab in Arizona. This treatment can occur on an outpatient or inpatient basis.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Arizona's substance abuse treatment centers can provide tailored treatment for individuals with substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Treatment programs may include medically assisted detox, 12-Step recovery, intensive outpatient programs, and aftercare support. Addiction experts employ evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and talk therapy to uncover and reframe unhelpful patterns. By graduation, you'll have developed new coping strategies, learned new stress management techniques, and have the capability of sustaining your recovery.

Programs

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Also known as CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy in Arizona is one of the most common types of psychotherapy. It offers a structured method of counseling that effectively treats substance use disorder and dual diagnosis disorders.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Arizona focuses on acceptance of your reality and behaviors while also attempting to make changes in unhealthy behaviors. It has been shown to be effective for the treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorder.

Individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction includes focused attention on the unique challenges that trigger addictive behavior. During individual therapy sessions, you have a safe space in which to discuss stressors and emotional struggles. Therapy fosters trust and open communication that helps develop personalized strategies to overcome addiction.

In Arizona, group therapy helps promote accountability and motivation for men and women who want to stay committed to addiction recovery. It fosters a sense of community where you can share your progress and learn new coping strategies from your peers.

Family therapy involves sessions where members of the family discuss how addiction has affected them individually and collectively. Therapists can guide families in developing coping strategies that help support their loved one's recovery while also focusing on their own emotional health.
