About Arnot Ogden Medical Center

What’s interesting about this center’s inpatient program is that it strongly encourages family involvement. If you enroll, you are encouraged to attend weekly family education sessions to help you and your family repair relationships while you focus on recovery.

You’ll also have your psychological needs met as the inpatient program strives to help individuals work toward having high self esteem and confidence, which in turn will help with personal growth and drug and alcohol abstinence. You can also expect a personalized plan to help with continued care to ensure you always have assistance even after recovery.

I also loved that the inpatient program included medical monitoring and individual and group counseling among peers fighting the same fight as myself. So if you’re looking for a friendly supportive environment the inpatient program at this facility is worth considering.

Outpatient psychiatry program is awful. Erik Kraus, office manager, has no clue what clients rights are and walks all over them. Be aware that even when he is wrong he will make you feel like you are the problem - not him. Don’t even bother trying to address issues with him unless you are ready to go all the way to stand up for yourself. He will make you feel small. You have to be a VERY STRONG self advocate to actually receive good quality mental health care. Extremely dangerous. The students are not provided with adequate education, preparation, or supervision. Supervisor recently seemed overworked and very burned out. Safety is needed to heal - if your case is complicated, go somewhere else - sadly it has gotten that bad. Since 2021 I had 6 different students. 3 were good, 1 manic or on too much adderral, 1 was a narcissist, and the most recent was extremely incompetent - no understanding of neurobiology and the brain. No business prescribing meds! Criminal! They bill insurance even though they don’t have the skill set to really prescribe medication. Have questions? They don’t have answers or access to someone who does! YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. They have no experience in the field and when you say what your needs are they just don’t have viable solutions. ChatGPT is more helpful. Recently they didn’t even have a supervisor available for the new resident psychiatrist I was assigned - and my case is complex. They knew that and I requested certain basic skills anyone in the mental health field should at least have on their radar. It’s negligent, and dangerous. Also be aware of how the document your case! I asked for all of my records, and when I reviewed them, I found **so **many **mistakes I couldn’t even believe what I was reading and neither could my husband. These residents do not understand the significance of what they document - it appeared to me that no one had ever even taught them how! When I tried to address my concerns with the prescriber, thenwith the clinical director, and then with the practice manager, there was no getting anywhere. Talking circles. Asked for contact info for whoever licenses them and they gave me HELL until I made it clear I was not backing down. Unless you know what medication works for you and you have a very straightforward case (and you have no other options) DO NOT GO HERE. They will mess your biology up and then blame you. Then they will mess up your records (damage social security), and then label you with some kind of personality disorder claiming “triangulation” when you bring your concerns to their attention. The place is an absolute nightmare. Spare yourself. If they are your only option I still wouldn’t do it - they will make your condition worse and then make you feel even more isolated on an already lonely and misunderstood journey. Honestly, you are better off living in a tent in the woods with your service dog instead! If you have been mistreated and have a trauma history involving providers this is a TOXIC space and you will leave (if not to go on a long term psych unit) feeling even more scarred and wary of “prescribers” who want to “help” you (and as with any traumatic experience your increased wariness would be for good reason). Question everything. Do your own research. Advocate. And watch how they document about you. Online NYC Psychiatric Associates is where I’m heading next. Don’t settle or allow for psychological manipulation 🙏🏼 you teach people how to treat you!

I was taken to AOMC on 8-22-25 by ambulance. I have stage 4 COPD and while I was waiting in the ER for a room I saw a man just walk out of his room and the security guards grabbed him and man handled the man like an animal (he was not being combative or a threat ) , there was no reason for security to do that to him. I watched that happen for 3 hours while waiting to get a room upstairs. After I got sent to my room I took myself off the CPAP machine because I was feeling better , and I was just on oxygen. The nurse came in to my room and said I had to go back on the CPAP machine because it helps to suck the fluid out of a person's lungs. Anyone in the medical field knows that a CPAP machine can't do that. I then signed myself out because I did not trust the care I was receiving. They refused to let me use an oxygen tank (because I signed myself out) in the lobby while I was waiting for my wife to come get me (almost 30 min away), they didn't care how much I was struggling to breathe. While waiting for my wife, I was informed by a hospital employee that I have the right to request a different nurse. .. I did not know that, if I had, I would have stayed. This hospital needs a complete overhaul.

Thank you Dr. Snellgrove for truly listening to me and as a result, giving me back my quality of life. After several years of progressively worsening pain originating in the butt/hip area , off and on numbing and throbbing sensation (upper thigh mostly), and muscles weakness encompassing my entire right side, eventually being told by the director, herself, of orthopedic surgeon at another healthcare facility that it was mild arthritis and prescribing pharmaceuticals like candy on Halloween. If my circumstance had not force me to move to the area, I never would have started seeing Dr. Snellgrove and most likely would be using some kind of walker, wheelchair, or been (unnecessarily/prematurely) operated on by now. Thank you for being an intuitive, intelligent physician. Thank you for referring me to an excellent specialist, who took the ball and has given me back my quality of life, without drugs, surgery or whatever that would have not been in MY best interest.

Accepted Insurance

Arnot Ogden Medical Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I can NOT give a star as it is not deserved so even though in order to make this post I must select 1 start my TRUE rating is ZERO!!!! While my child was in the ER after threatening my safety, I was contacted by the social worker Stacy McMail-Jerzak that he would be getting cleared by psych and I plead my case that I did not feel safe being that he had threatened me and literally tore my vehicle apart. Once he was cleared by psych she said we needed to come up with a discharge plan. I once again told her I was not comfortable as his threats were to kill me and that I was seeking a protection order. Her words to me multiple times were "your his mother, you have to". She is very unprofessional and does not listen to concerns. When I was told he was cleared by psyche and that a discharge plan was needed(never said that he was ready for discharge) I personally went to the courts, DSS and my child psyche provider seeking help. Stacy hot lined me to CPS because I didn't come over to Arnot and sit in her office to make the plan, instead I was going in person to places begging for help for my child as I didn't feel safe with him being at my home but he needed a place to go. During the process of me trying to secure a discharge plan Stacy refused to do a referral to a respite for a screening because my minor child said no. Despite me fearing for my safety and my other minor children's safety I was forced to bring my son back to my home until the courts took action the following day and removed him. The only directive I was given by Arnot was to call 911 if needed. They forced a discharge despite my safety concerns. If you are in need of a social worker at Arnot make sure you do not get referred to Stacy!!!! She doesn't care what the actual issues are, only listens to the manipulative patient even when there are police reports backing up the concerns!!!!

My son was in ICU at this hospital and wanted him moved to a better hospital that had treated him before. They got a social worker to contact me and talked me out of it due to this hospital needing money. I will be contacting insurance not to pay bill. Then sent my son to their partner drug rehab which does not give patients phone messages and keeps them so doped up they don't know what is up and what is down. Do not use St Joseph or arnot Ogden. They are unsafe and need to be reviewed by medical board.

Arnot health billing is an absolute joke. There is no correspondence at all when paying your bill or getting a receipt. My outstanding has changed (balance does not accurately reflect the total payment made) almost every month even though I pay the same each month. The people in the billing department are only able to look at the computer screen and have absolutely no problem solving skills at all. (Sorry sir but that's what it says on the screen.) I have had to call several times over the months to have my outstanding balance corrected. I will never use arnot health for any services ever again for any reason. Absolute worst.

Icu was a horrible experience. The main nurse was awesome. A part time nurse did nothing but yell at my son and was very rude to me. I will definitely be calling someone about the situation
