I had to find a new counselor after years of seeing one that I loved from Milestone in Hornell. I tried a couple others but ended up going to Steuben Mental health and thanks to a friends suggestion got in with a counselor there named Allison, she has been amazing and the entire staff are very pleasant. Should you need counseling services I would highly recommend them as they have a large collection of providers and can match you up very well. Truly a amazing experience to me and this coming from a man who has been in counseling for quite awhile.

This facility has very friendly and knowledgeable staff.... I know when I go there I will have most if not all my questions answered.... I left this facility years ago because of lack of caring. Wonderful and understanding people here. The office workers, the counselor's are all great, especially Amber, my counselor. But my 2 favorite people in the building are Doctor Anderson and the addictions nurse, Karen. Them two have helped me with several other non addiction health issues. But I cannot say enough kind words to aptly describe just how awesome this collection of dedicated people who are easy to talk to and who also come from a place of understanding. You Rock A.C.A.S.A. I'd recommend people here, without a doubt.

They do an amazing job especially considering how high of a workload these counselors have. Ive had two amazing counselors over the years I've been there. To those who have had a bad time you need to remember not everyone's counseling style matches with the client and if it doesn't you need to advocate for yourself and find one that is for you. The receptionist are really friendly and super helpful! I love that you can just walk in for a crisis appointment anytime and they will find a counselor for you to talk to if yours is unavailable if you're having a really hard day. They have a crisis hotline and the people who answer are really nice and helpful. The atmosphere here is really welcoming. I love that the staff here helps me believe in myself by challenging me to think more positive and use healthy coping skills in my everyday life. I have felt more understood and less alone in my mental health journey here throughout the years.

Clarity has some issues right now just like most businesses. My personal expirence is I have a consistent therapist that took the time to know me..well I have had a few that challenged me,and if your going thru something and your hateing on the place and you feel like they arnt treating fairly? It's ok it's part of the process. And the Dr knows me well and actually talks to me..and he always gives me his "Jerry Springer last thought" before the session ended.i gave 4 stars because nothings perfect and normal is just a setting on a dryer.

7 years this February I was at the facility and it was sensational. I loved the staff and the food. You have to want recovery and if you do this is the place. I took the treatment in stride and used it for what it is there for. You have to decide on your own to be clean and that mentality is all that you need! I don't understand these bad reviews; I know some people are forced to be there, and are defiant(possibly coming off harder stuff), but some people left and decided to come back. There were fights but not physical. I wasn't there very long, quick voluntary detox from alcohol; I found the staff all to be very nice; kitchen staff helped me with my immense food allergies, and gave me great food that I wasn't expecting, it was so good, and I'm a chef who makes almost everything from scratch. The nurses were awesome... I can't speak for others, but some disgruntled people had reasonable criticisms, and when people are detoxing, maybe sometimes, their negative attitudes require more patience and compassion. I was happy to be helped. The only reason I didn't give 5 star is because maybe cuz I was appreciative for being helped; recovering people may need, like I said, more patience, and also, I "needed" a doctor's note to go back to work; after a week of calling multiple times, and never receiving as promised, my boss brought me back on a technicality. I also was 'referred" to outside resources; I haven't received any; I received a 3rd party call, but nothing has got done. Either way, from residents I talked to, this is the best facility around, many left, and told me it was due to their addiction, and then tried other places and chose to come back to this one. It is not bad to stay there, and they give you free cigarettes, which may be questionable, and I had quit smoking, but smoked a ton. They let detox do that, but residence has scheduled smoke breaks and way more rules and requirements. It took a few days but I'm down to barely smoking. I think free cigs is good, even though it's bad for you and addictive, it actually acts as group therapy,from my own experience, and if you're coming off something, nicotine my be addictive, but doesn't require detox, and just like with a variety of meds they use to treat detox/withdrawals, it is kind of a comfort med. Either way, I thought this place was great; they definitely rely on a lot of funding,some personal, and I only stayed 5 days, my financial assistance would have paid for 7 if the nurse thought it was dire, but they weren't gonna cover programs, and I felt detoxed.

Update: while their audiology dept did lose my hearing test proving my hearing loss I do have to admit that has been overshadowed by the drastic change I have experienced here. It used to be a rundown facility with intatentive care less staff. Now the care facilities actually feel like a modern hospital with staff that are proactive in helping with medical needs. I feel so much better about coming here than I had in the past.

Hi. I admitted myself into mountain laurel in January of 2025. My stay was amazing! I had the best counselors, the best staff and the best care possible! Everyone was wonderful! The rooms were clean and comfortable, there was plenty of opportunity to either have private time or spend time with peers. The groups were great. I came out a new person! I would recommend Mt. Laurel to anyone fighting addiction! The care I received was top notch!!!

Aug 17 2023 is the day my life changed. I'm from the south. I had lived in the woods for a large part of my life. I was broken. I was angry and I was scared. The staff from nurses to counselors and even admission staff were amazing. They gave this homeless sick angry man hope. I'm 20 months sober now. Alright, people. Here's the deal...
I'm going to give a bluntly honest review on the positives, as well as the negatives that come with placing yourself, or you're loved ones in this specific facility, Dick Van Dyke(DVD) and do so in as little text as possible.
I will give as much detail as possible, and the ONLY thing I will not inform you on is the names of any patients(OR Prisoners as the Court Or Parole Mandated ones call themselves 🤣).
To give reference to why you should trust the Information I'm giving you, or that you can give your loved one to make a logical and well informed decision before making one, this place truly is special in a way, it is also, not for SOME people, if you deal with certain, let's say, mental health or PTSD during sleep especially, and/or, triggers that make you...Let's say, explode and have angry responses, or, if you are someone without a lot of self control, or you dealt with tremendous amount of violence in your life that caused you issues currently with your temper, this place, really may not be the right fit for you..This was my first inpatient rehab experience, but this is FAR from being my first facility I have stayed in, I have been to jail in multiple states, mental health hospitals as a kid, group homes, and juvenile lockdown facilities in southern California, I am now 28 years old, and a father of two wonderful children out west, and though the past has a way of creeping up on me and effecting how I deal with things, they are my world and my reason for placing myself in this place.
However, let's start off with the positive aspects of D.V.D first.
So, Positives-
• You get you're own room, you do not have to share you're room.
•Theres only about 3 hours out of the day you have to attend groups and their split up.
•EVERY COUNSELOR Is Awesome, PLZ give Laura A Chance, she comes off very stern and doesn't mean to, but in my last night, she proved to be the one person who helped me the most, and was the most caring! She just, doesn't mean to come off the way you may feel at FIRST, I didn't really give her much of a chance and that's on ME.
•Andrea, where do I start with her..🤔Well, she's thee BEST staff in there, and even tho my violent, PTSD filled, lifetime of L.A Gangbanging crooked ass self walked in that place full of trauma, full of anger, pain so deep in the soul it has no escape, and even when I snapped a few times, she the one who ACTUALLY calmed me down, and truly cares..2 feet from a beast with 3 eyes she can see with more than just 2..and knows she was sitting across from somebody who used to get down with the demons and danced my whole life with the fk'n devil..She has all compassion & all desire to help and be somebody to lean on. I promise, she won't reveal it but she more gangster& more experienced than she looks/gives off. If you're struggling with addiction. I would highly suggest this ATC to help get you on your personal road to recovery. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable. Only reason they get 4 stars is because they suck at teaching accountability here which is very big for early recovery especially when addicts first leave rehab. Besides that, this place is worth your time!!!! Get help and get clean!
