But this unit has saved my life more times than I can count. Every single staff member does everything they can to help you get better. They truely want the best for every person who is scared and walks through those doors. Even the housekeeper will make your day down to the friendly dietary staff who deliver the meals. It’s a small unit and not overwhelming. Not one bad egg there. Just know they will make you feel safe and cared for. We were many miles from home with a trailer full of horses and the staff was so fast and efficient to get us taken care of and back on the road in no time. Trying to avoid this traumatic event and see it was not my fault and learn to stay positive and not trying to hide and avoid a terrible situation but to open up about it and realize this was not my fault but caused by a careless older gentleman not paying attention when he slammed into the vehicle I was in and I now have some permanent disability even after under going multiple different operations......she help me try to see the positive not like life time disabilities Iam facing.......she is a true caring loving and looks out for her patients no matter what your age or color or race like you are one of her own children and teaches positivity and not to concentrate on negativity......she might not be some young counselor but uses her life time learned knowledge to try to instil positive thoughts into her patients life and show them no matter how bad anything is or may seem always instead seek out the postuve things not the negative kinda like when the devil whispers in your ear ....ignore him. But one thing is for certain, this place was an integral part of my success in my own recovery. I owe them that at least. Dustin the security guy was there for me literally since day one. There has been times where past counselors and medical staff have been very useless on what needed to be done, and no matter the situation was I always felt better thanks to Dustin. He took the time to tell me hello and ask how I'm doing or even just passing along shouts of encouragement. And that has been all I needed after such times where maybe the place couldn't help me. And a big part of that is to the phenomenal help I get from my therapist and MAT dr. At Evelyn Brandon. My therapist is such a sweetheart. I can call or email her anytime of any day and she'll respond as soon as she can and help me through whatever. They act as more than drug counselors, they're life counselors too. Plus I have a once a week group zoom meeting that I attend through Evelyn Brandon as well that I've gained some real close bonds with other recovering addicts so that I know that I'm never alone in this life long battle against my demons. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to get help with either their mental health &/or their drug&/or alcohol addictions.. trust me, life is so much better being free from substances. We flew in on a prop plane in the dead of winter to spend his last week with him. I was in 8th grade and catching HIV was like having leprosy, but worse. The hospital scared me at first. The smells and sight of older sick people was almost too much for my developing mind. Then, I saw my once strong and handsome 41 yo father not able to lift his head. He died but they brought him back before we arrived. When I say they were doing absolutely everything to keep him alive to see his kids, I mean everything! A miracle happened and the next day, he was sitting up and telling us stories. He loved that! We loved that! We spent every waking hour with him and he was feeling better, talking, laughing. The following day after we left to go home, he passed as he was speaking to his long lost beloved mother. The Bath VA Medical Center did absolutely everything to support us and keep my father alive as long as God permitted. They got him alcohol treatment, a place to live independently, medical and even aloud us to bury him on site with a full solute to his veteran status on the day of his funeral. I’ll never forget the trumpet sounding and the folding of the flag as the snow flakes sparkled in the sky. All that memory was because of the kindness of this medical center. They go above and beyond just like our soldiers. I will visit soon to share my experience with the staff and want them all to know how much they are appreciated! But machines do not heal a person all on their own. From the first floor all the way up to the fifth, the Bath VA operates on something much more powerful: genuine human connection. When you walk through those doors, you are not just a number on a medical chart. The staff here actually cares about you as an individual. They know who you are, they recognize your face, and they treat every Veteran with the respect they have earned. Beyond the exceptional care, the facility itself is a masterclass in convenience and practical logistics. It might feel like a small hospital, but packed into those five stories is just about everything a Soldier could need, all under one roof. For anyone doing their reconnaissance before a visit, here is the Ground Truth on what to expect: All-Encompassing Clinics: Whether you need physical therapy, a routine eye exam, audiology and hearing services, podiatry, or even a trip to the dentist, it is all right here in the same building. Solid Food Service: It is not a massive corporate cafeteria, but rather a reliable short-order grill. They cook up basic, genuinely good food when you need to grab a bite between appointments.
