About A.V.Y Counseling Services

A.V.Y. Counseling Services is a mental and behavioral health clinic in Orem, Utah. Here, people grappling with substance use and dual diagnoses can receive general outpatient (GOP) services including assessments, individual and group counseling and educational courses most of which are available via telehealth. The facility is certified by the Justice Resource Institute (JRI) indicating they meet a higher standard of behavioral health care and community service.

In addition to addiction treatment, this facility offers a broad spectrum of services to support people with mental health struggles and other challenges such as relationship or family issues. Addiction is sometimes called a “family disease” because it affects the person with the disorder as well as those around them. Having access to individual, couple and family counseling from the same provider may be helpful if that resonates with you.

Another feature I like is that they have several therapy groups for specific populations. For instance, people who have endured domestic violence may appreciate that this facility offers group therapy sessions specifically for survivors. There are separate groups for men and women to ensure participants feel comfortable and safe. There’s also a group for veterans, and one of the staff counselors is a USAF vet.

Their educational courses are another highlight. The center offers several including some that are focused on anger management, thinking errors, anti-theft and parenting. There are also Prime for Life and Prime Solutions classes designed to help people understand why substance use habits develop, motivate them to change and give them the tools to make healthier choices. People who are in the earlier stages of substance misuse, including those who have been cited for intoxicated driving, may benefit from the Prime for Life and Prime Solutions classes.

One of the center’s staff counselors is bilingual in Spanish and English while another speaks fluent Spanish, English and Brazilian Portuguese. Some of the center’s classes are available in Spanish and English as are counseling sessions.

This has been the worst place to ever work with. Constant false promises. No calls no shows from the therapist.Constant lies telling you will hear about getting in the weekly meetings.Run far and run fast before you ever think of using AVY counselingIt s funny you respond with saying you work with peoples schedules. No you don t. You have rescheduled me every week since November. Zero cares given. Keep trying to reschedule me during times I m working. AVY is nothing short of a failure to help people and take care of people in the community. If you truly cared you would stop the same copy pasted reply and actually help others in making sure the therapist can even make it to an appointment. It s a joke that AVY thinks this is even acceptable.

Accepted Insurance

A.V.Y Counseling Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you enter a drug rehab in Utah, the process usually involves four stages: treatment initiation, early abstinence, maintaining abstinence, and advanced recovery. Treatment methods can rely on medications, counseling, or both, in either an outpatient or inpatient setting.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The counselor doesn’t care about the individual and doesn’t listen. They’ll lie in the assessment then say that you’re a higher risk for recrimination that you actually are. All they want is money, not growth and prosperity

I’ve been working with Eric at AVY counceling for the past 2 years and I’ve never had a more effective and enjoyable therapist or form of therapy. The Body talk/Mind Body Bridging is absolutely incredible and Eric knows how to integrate it so effectively. Ive worked with soooo many therapists and doctors and Eric at AVY Counseling it at the very top of my list. Eric far exceeds traditional forms of therapy including “talk therapy” that you can find absolutely everywhere. What Eric does needs to be adopted world wide. My brother also sees him and benefits in the same way. I can’t give a high enough rating.

Well I just started with them and even on top of my insurance they want $30 for a drug screen each time and I was told I could take up to 4 a month which would be $120 a month. It's all about money I'm barely making it as it is

Im telling you this is the place! Especially if you are involved in any court ordered treatments. They are responsive, timely and reliable in their communication to both the client and the courts. Eric is so kind and caring. Eric and Bob guided me through a very lengthy court process that ended with wonderful results. I always felt supported, listened to and genuinely cared about. AVY counseling accommodated my time and needs. Pricing is reasonable and most of all you will come away with better skills to navigate the challenges and complexities of life. As a Medical and Mental Health Provider, I fully endorse AVY counseling and the support services they offer.
