About Catalyst Life Services – The Center

The first thing you’ll experience at The Center is an evaluation. This means a case management team will look over your mental health history to gauge your addictions. You might be eligible for individual, group, and family counseling. There’s also educational workshops to help you work your way toward recovery.

The outpatient program consists of three hours of therapy per session for three days each week. You’ll meet with an assigned counselor and receive individual and peer support. You might also be eligible for medication assisted treatment to ward off withdrawal pains. If you’re enrolled in an AA program, you’ll continue that program in your local community. Some life skills training is also available, like career coaching.

The Center does not offer detox or residential services. However, they do treat emergency cases of if you’ve suffered a crisis, like a heavy relapse. Otherwise, if you need detox, you can be referred to another facility in the Catalyst network. Medicaid is accepted throughout the network as well.

They simply do nothing for people who are struggling. Their “urgent care” is a joke. The whole facility is in my opinion. If you are struggling seek elsewhere because they will leave you more hopeless than before! Care more about numbers than quality!

Was sent here for mental health therapy. I had a lengthy session with a woman (don’t know her name, don’t care to). They had me fill out paperwork for the therapist, which she never looked at. Typed with two fingers and never made eye contact with me. She was very dry and uncaring. Asked me all the questions that I had filled out on the paperwork THAT SHE DIDNT LOOK AT and decided to diagnose me immediately after 30 minutes. I told her I had many diagnoses and I could bring them to my next visit. She immediately interrupted me and dismissed me, saying it doesn’t matter what I had been diagnosed with my whole life by multiple therapist. That SHE is the therapist now and I’d have to deal with that. Will be searching elsewhere.

Since being discharged from Hartland, Ive had one good month of feeling like a normal person. I was following my medication regimen set in place by my Psychiatrist. Who spent DAYS getting to know ME and my history. Catalyst, at first, was great. Then 2/2.5 months after I was discharged and feeling good. They missed managed my appointments, left me with out medication—its damn near impossible to get a call back the same day. I requested a new counselor from both offices NEVER heard back from that. So, I have no relationship whatsoever with any psychiatrist there, or counselor. I dont even see a psychiatrist anymore (????) now without coping skills, a counselor or the ease of mind that theyll actually call back. They reduce meds—change meds—add meds—which I feel like I did before I went to the Ward. Thanks Lisa.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. The Catalyst Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides adults, age 18 and older, voluntary admission to a supervised, short-term residential-type setting. The unit offers clients a protective and supportive environment to stabilize and resolve crises.

Provides the opportunity for clients in need of structured programming to participate in groups and self-help groups, learn new behaviors and practice relapse prevention strategies such as drug/alcohol refusal skills, open communication, and stress reduction techniques while continuing to live at home.

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I went here for therapy about 3 years ago, and left after being bounced around from flaky therapist to flaky therapist. I decided to give therapy another go, and chose Catalyst hoping they’ve had some kind of reform and got better since then. I was told on the phone that they accept my insurance and I was welcome to come in during urgent care hours to get set up. All that paperwork and time, and turns out, you’re out of luck if you don’t go through Medicare or Medicaid. I was told one thing on the phone just for them to turn around and say something totally different when I got there. For a community center, they sure are very exclusive on what insurance they accept. Got 10 minutes into the evaluation before the counselor who saw me had to leave due to an illness (not her fault, I hope she’s okay) and they were supposed to send someone back out to take her place and finish my evaluation and nobody ever came. I came here hopeful that I’d get the help I needed, but somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew SOMETHING was gonna go wrong, it’s catalyst, something always goes wrong with them. I’m absolutely shocked and outraged that Ohio MHAS has let this facility slide for so long after they’ve repeatedly failed people time and time again who really need the help. State intervention is LONG overdue for this facility, and I’m disgusted that my tax dollars help fund a place like this when the people running this place truly couldn’t care less about the struggling people who walk through their doors and beg for their help only to either get half-hearted attempts or just be denied help altogether, this is sickening, Do better for your community, seriously. Y’all need to answer for all the lives y’all so shamelessly have played with and all the people you’ve failed.
