I had my first appointment with the psychiatrist Manhoor Cheema. She spoke to me like I was a child and the medical gaslighting was some of the worst I have experienced in my life. I have struggled with ADHD since I was a child and have always suspected this- I used to beg my family to get my tested but it wasnt until I was 20 years old that my previous psychiatrist asked me if I have been tested for ADHD because I was nearly failing my college classes due to ADHD symptoms. I nearly cried with relief when I finally got tested and started meds. Yet this woman who met me for approximately 5 minutes began trying to convince me that I actually DONT have ADHD because 'Im getting my masters degree and doing just fine' (its because Ive been on meds this whole time, which I am off of now, and severely falling behind, which I explained several times) and because 'ADHD is normally diagnosed in children.' She then proceeded to suggest I lock away my phone so I dont get distracted. Wow! I never thought of putting away distractions! Its not like the distractions are in my brain. You know, because this is a brain disorder. And apparently, stimulants are bad for you! Wow, thank you so much Manhoor Cheema, for telling me that drugs are bad. The drugs with a mile long list of side effects arent good for me? Im shocked to my very core. Its not like Ive been taking them for the past five years because without them I was extremely suicidal or anything. I wish I had asked to see her credentials because I do not believe for one second that this woman is a doctor, (and not just because her name was listed as Ms. Cheema as opposed to Dr. Cheema )(something which I have never seen from a medical doctor!)

I am giving the CNS company 5 stars for the effort. The only down fall I have is when ever I show up for appointments one I am being stoped asked for money or a ride when I came there by the company transferred for the appointments and then when sitting in lobby waiting having some guy paseing back and forth and stoping in front of me and others looking like he's going to do something when you look at him. I hate being the one to complain but if I feel uncomfortable I will be speaking up

Very reliable case manager and very nice. Always answers my phone call when I need to get a hold of her. Also very professional too. Same goes with my psychiatrist. I highly recommend this place they treat you with respect. They truly care about you. Never had issues scheduling with appointments. Always had reminders for appointments. And they were always on time with my appointments. Even when I had emergencies they got me in right away. Also to add my peer support is amazing she's very sweet thankful to have her. The nurse is also good too. I'm thankful to have all their support. Never had a great team like this. They know what they're doing and take the time to make sure you're ok and safe. Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have already completed high-level treatment and have begun to develop essential recovery skills. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' sustained sobriety as they reintegrate into their home, workplace, and community. Case managers, care teams, and clients design the customized service portfolio that will best support the client's long-term sobriety. Clients may receive peer coaching, 12 step program induction, vocational training, and relapse prevention services.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober living homes in Michigan act as a bridge between an intensive level of care and the freedom of independent living. The primary rule in every sober living home is to stay sober. If a resident breaks this rule, they can be evicted. However, this environment is designed to prevent relapse, with mutual support, 12-step meetings, a structured schedule, and drug screenings.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
During a drug intervention in Michigan, family, friends, and colleagues share in their own words how a person's substance abuse has affected their lives. An intervention must be carefully planned, with the goal of encouraging the individual to get treatment for their addiction. Many rehab programs offer intervention services to help families prepare for this confrontation and guide them through the recovery process.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
While many people know it as "day treatment", a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers treatment during the day and allows you to live at home. PHP treatment typically requires a commitment of at least 20 hours of treatment every week, with a program duration that spans approximately 90 days. While commuting is necessary, some programs offer telehealth options. PHP treatment plans usually include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Michigan helps participants view challenges more clearly so they can respond to them in healthy ways. During a limited number of structured sessions, clients learn about and practice these changes to effectively address substance use and mental health disorders.

Addiction often involves intense situations and emotions. Dialectical behavior therapy helps you understand and regulate your emotions and better manage the situations that evoke those feelings. You'll receive mindfulness training and stress management training to cope more effectively with difficult emotions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Personalized therapy sessions for drug addiction emphasize understanding your background and behavioral triggers for substance use. Your therapist will collaborate with you to create an effective coping strategy and address underlying issues that clear the way for lasting change.

During motivational interviewing, therapists express empathy, support self efficacy, and develop discrepancies. By using these techniques, therapists help clients reflect on their desires for change and understand why and how they should move forward with those changes.

During trauma therapy in Michigan, you are guided through traumatic memories within a safe and supportive environment. Your therapist then provides you with tools to process traumatic events and reduce the symptoms that occur when you're exposed to a trigger. This improves your overall mental health and ability to function in the community.

Both internal and external factors can put stress on a relationship. Couples therapy helps you and your partner work through those stressors and find healthy ways to deal with challenges as they arise.

Family therapy is often recommended for family units with a member undergoing drug or alcohol rehabilitation. Family therapy helps to foster communication and conflict resolution that creates a supportive environment. This helps the loved one who is struggling with addiction.

To maintain a healthy and productive life, you need certain life skills. They help you make good decisions and build good relationships. Because they are key to long term recovery, most rehab programs in Michigan include integrated life skills training.

Substance abuse negatively affects your nutrition. Some drugs affect your metabolism, while others affect how your body absorbs nutrients. Others suppress your appetite. To restore balance to your systems, nutrition therapy provides a healthy meal plan and training for how to eat the right foods to support addiction recovery.

Recreational therapy helps to build healthy habits and discover new interests that can reduce your cravings and your exposure to alcohol and drug triggers. Activities may include physical fitness, gardening, group games, and team sports. These promote relaxation, improve your mood, and encourage social interaction. Each of these is crucial to sustain long term recovery.

Quitting smoking is tough without the proper support. A good quit plan often includes nicotine replacement therapy. These products allow your body to adjust to a lack of nicotine, so you experience fewer cravings and less intense withdrawal symptoms.

Been with CNS healthcare since 2017. Great care professional staff especially my peer counselor and bhh nurse. Don't really care for my case manager and the staff on team m at the Waterford office seems like they are one sided and really don't listen carefully compared to the people I've worked with in the past. Trying to get switched to new team and case manager but am stuck. Still appreciate everyone at CNS in Waterford Michigan thanks for your help.

customer service is bad and patient care is worse. receptionists don't let me finish my sentences when i call and then ask me to repeat myself 🙃. psychiatrists push drugs for things that I've explicitly said i don't want treated with drugs, and have little other treatment options to offer. very poor experiences overall. only plus so far has been their option for telehealth, but I'm not going to paise them when the bar is on the floor and they are digging in the dirt to still squeeze underneath it. do better CNS! treating mental health issues by withholding autonomy is counterintuitive and doesn't help anyone get better!

I've been working with CNS as a patient for several years now. They have helped me come a very long way in this Mental healing process. They have supported me in every way they possibly could on this journey.Thier support and tools they've provided have substantially helped through the healing process. They've taught me to not give up on myself so easily and that the healing process is real and possible. Thank you for all you have done for me.

I have an appointment with the provider today. I took time off work too. Nobody ever told me that it was a virtual appointment. I absolutely HATE virtual appointments and never would have agreed to a virtual appointment had it been discussed with me.

Zach Goodman is an awesome therapist. Psychiatrist told me that one of my problems was me being gay. I requested medication for anxiety which went unheard, but Rexulti was prescribed, and I didn't like the effects. Case managers were just OK. Peer support person was nice but it was nonconstructive.
