About God Behind Bars

Family Matters is a God Behind Bars program that sets inmates on a journey to reconnect with their family through Christ and help them follow Him. During this phase they also plug in and grow deeper in their faith by jumping into small groups. Studies have shown that 90% of inmates have struggled with addiction, so we offer the successful “Celebrate Recovery” program along side other strong curriculum to help prisoners confront and fight their hurts, habits, and hang-ups.

Other Forms of Payment

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you enter drug rehab in Nevada, you receive professional assistance to remove drugs from your body and cease your body's need for the substance. You learn coping strategies and receive support to prevent relapse and enjoy long-term sobriety.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Friendly workers, great location, and they give back to people who need resources but can’t obtain them for their own reasons. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to donate excess items and have them given to people in need!

I was a regular customer until last week. I stopped in and purchased two household items and 3 books. One book was on the regular shelf. Two books were on the sale shelf for 47 cents. These both had a large black marker stripe across the top to indicate the sale. The cashier had earbuds in when checking me out, and I couldn't see the screen to view the prices. I looked at my receipt and saw that I was overcharged on the two sale books. They were rung up at $1.97 each rather than 47 cents. I was still at the register, so I pointed this out, and asked for it to be corrected. The cashier told me no refunds. I explained that I was overcharged, so it is not a refund. I was not returning the items. I just wanted them at the advertised price, or else I would not have purchased them. He confirmed that he did make the error and overcharged me, but held firm that this was considered a refund. Two more staff members arrived. One offered me store credit. I politely declined and asked for the owed difference returned. The other began to get upset and grabbed the store donation box. He dumped out all the small change out and started to count out $3 in pennies and dimes. I said, calmly, as I was honestly more baffled than angry, that I was disappointed with how they were handling the situation. The man became more visibly frustrated and pulled $3 out of his wallet. I accepted because at that point I was very uncomfortable and confused. Every store should be able to issue credit via the original payment method (credit card in my case) for employee errors. I was not upset by the mistake. I was disappointed by the argumentive response from all of the staff and the refusal to honor their advertised prices. I thrift because I'm on a budget. I don't think the store would appreciate me stealing an item, so I'm not sure why they find it acceptable to steal money from me. I sent a note through their website asking for them to retrain staff regarding refunds vs correcting their own errors, as well as how to calmly address customer issues as opposed to escalating situations. Even training on confirming each price as it is entered out loud would be very helpful to avoid issues like this. In return, I would not leave this review; however, they never responded. Nevada law, deceptive pricing is illegal: NRS 598.09 section 13. I was NOT asking for a refund for an item I changed my mind about. I was overcharged, which is deceptive pricing. Rather than file a chargeback, I wanted to resolve it amicably, but all the staff was very poorly trained and defensive. I never raised my voice, used inappropriate language, or made any unreasonable demands. I simply asked for the prices to be honored as advertised. In fact, I said very little, so the outsized reaction very much surprised me. If you do shop here, I suggest confirm pricing of each item as they are entered. Personally, I will not be back.

This place has turned into a place I don't want to go to anymore, and I won't be referring anyone to them either. They seem to be hiring & supporting rude and inconsiderate staff. They don't want to help people unload items being donated. We won't be donating with them going forward. Too many other options nearby!
