I just left the Southeast VA Clinic, where I had a wonderful experience with Doctor Maria Diana Garcia. It was my first time meeting with her, and it was a great experience. She was very down to earth, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. I generally have had good experiences with the VA, but I want to give her some official kudos. She is a credit to that facility.

Some of the staff were absolutely amazing. Others, while not extremely bad weren’t the best depending. The call function was a bit of a headache to get through to patients I’ve heard from my family. I tried to get through to ask if they still had one of my medications (family brought it in) and when a staff member doesn’t pick up it rings a little then hangs up on you.
There were things to do such as sudoku, crossword, chess, uno, playing cards, and they normally have the tv remote you can switch the channel or change the volume.
They did smoke/outside time pretty often.
Just to add, I was in the adult side of the hospital, I never experienced the pediatric side. This was just my experience (I was there for 5 days)

I love it here but that early morning cafeteria worker that’s a man he’s so rude and mean. He makes me feel like it’s not okay to ask for food. It’s annoying and he acts like he hates his job

I’ve been about 5 times and probably about half of the times the whole sermon was about donating. I get that donations are part of an organization and everything needs $$ to thrive and grow and provide services but it was exhausting. I’d rather a place spend 5 minutes max at beginning of every sermon than spend an entire hr and half once a month pounding it into our brains. If people are going to donate they’re going to donate regardless. The pastor goes on and on like pounding it into our brains for an hr and half and even my teenager was like omg he just keeps saying the same things. And he says “I’m just gonna take one minute” and then proceeds to spend 20 minutes repeating himself repeating himself the same thing, about giving money, we get it. To make donating an entire sermon is in bad taste in my opinion. And people were just trickling trickling up and out of their seats. I’ve been to other churches where someone will speak about tithe or financial generosity for a 5-10 minute talk but never an entire sermon. It left a bad taste in my mouth each time and I think the organization needs to re think how they can better get that message across especially right now in the world.

Newer, non-smoking, handicap accessible, secure, short term drug & alcohol detox facility. First came through in 2016, when it first opened, on my way to a 90 day Westcare residential program. Now I have 4.5 years clean and sober. I visit monthly to speak to clients about getting recovery, because this is where my new life first began, and I am grateful. It is what you make it. Staff works very hard, and will help you with many resources for recovery. But you have to ask!

Took the Rock in December of 2005. Mike Richie was one of the more memorable councilors with his 4:30 a.m. formation call-out in the freezing weather just to tell you how great the weather is in the Bahamas. It's one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I've ever been to. I made a whole lot of great memories and friends up there. And would go back every summer to beat this Vegas heat and for the peace of mind this wonderful place on earth gives you. To all the brothers I found out there, I hope you're doing well and hope to see y'all again real soon!
