I came to Deer Hollow carrying years of unresolved trauma and symptoms that had taken over my life. I had tried therapy before, but nothing reached the root of what I was dealing with until I walked through their doors. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel safe, grounded, and understood in a way I hadn’t experienced anywhere else. Residential treatment was intense, structured, and emotionally heavy at times — but it was also exactly what I needed. The trauma-focused work, especially IFS, helped me understand why I reacted the way I did, where my patterns came from, and how to work with the parts of myself that had been stuck for so long. The therapists were incredibly skilled, patient, and compassionate. They didn’t just teach me tools; they helped me truly heal. Moving through the step-down levels of care gave me time and support to practice what I was learning while still having a clinical team behind me. Each phase built on the one before it, and for the first time, I felt real change happening — not temporary relief, but deep, foundational healing. Deer Hollow didn’t just help me manage my trauma; they helped me reclaim my life. I’m grateful every day that I made the decision to go.

Despite my difficulties and frustrations deep diving into my past traumas, while utilizing the different modalities offered at DH; I did the strenuous work to process and find my path to peace again. When you are serious about recovery come to Deer Hollow. It will not be easy, but it will be worth it. I am a Paramedic that came up in the time of “stuff those emotions down”, I’m here to tell you that does not work. They come back with a vengeance and hopefully you don’t take your own life before you get help. Give Deer Hollow a chance, The staff is top notch and they have been through similar stuff and achieved Victory. You will be with peers going through the same stuff, no matter what their background we are more alike than different. I thank the people of Deer Hollow for saving my life. Sending my daughter to a residential treatment center was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make as a parent, and I was incredibly apprehensive at first. However, our experience with New Haven’s Stabilization & Assessment Program far exceeded every expectation I had. I am genuinely grateful for the level of care, support, and communication we received from day one. The clinical director and my daughter’s therapist, Cassi, was truly exceptional. Cassi built trust with my daughter in a way I had not seen before, and knowing that my daughter felt safe going to her with anything meant everything to me. The clinical leadership made sure I understood every step of the process, and they took my concerns seriously from the moment we arrived. Their professionalism, compassion, and genuine investment in my daughter’s well-being stood out immediately. The nursing staff was just as incredible. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure her safety, monitor her needs, and communicate with me about even the smallest changes or questions. There was never a moment when I felt out of the loop. Whether it was a medical update or a quick check-in, their communication was consistent, thoughtful, and reassuring. I could always reach someone when I needed to, and I never once felt like my daughter wasn’t in excellent hands. One of the biggest strengths of New Haven’s program is how thorough, individualized, and comprehensive their assessment process is. They provided the most detailed psychological evaluation my daughter has ever received, and for the first time, I truly felt like her experiences, symptoms, and struggles were understood with depth and accuracy. They paid attention to nuances that are so often overlooked by other providers, and those insights have already transformed how I support her at home. Despite some negative reviews in the past, our experience was nothing short of outstanding. The program is thoughtfully designed, tailored to each child’s needs, and grounded in compassion and clinical expertise. I felt supported at every turn; not just my daughter, but me as a parent navigating an overwhelming situation. My daughter made meaningful progress during her three months there, and the foundation they helped her build is something she continues to benefit from today. I am sincerely grateful for the entire team at New Haven, and I would not hesitate to recommend this program to any family whose child needs this level of care. They truly changed our lives for the better.

The team of therapists, relational coaches, medical staff, and teachers was all needed to create a safety bubble around our teen while she experienced a real and present storm in her life requiring therapy (individual, group, & family therapy). After 12 months of school and therapy, she was able to actually complete high school early and has launched successfully into her college experience. Thankfully, New Haven offers aftercare options to make the transition bearable- it is a lot to transition from a safety bubble to college life. We appreciate the deep care from all the staff, including the cook and night staff, who all make themselves available to the kiddos when a listening ear is needed. The reason for 4 stars was because we would’ve like to see more daily physical activity included in the program for a healthy lifestyle. However, there were parent weekends to national parks and many outdoor opportunities. In summary, New Haven aims at making families whole and we were blessed to be one of those families.

My daughter spent a year at New Haven and it was an excellent experience for us and for her. If you are considering New Haven, you’re in a tough place and have been through a lot. We were there and made mistakes before finding New Haven. The team was excellent - especially her counselor (shout out to the amazing Amy). The depth of the program and the quality of the people had a profoundly positive impact on our daughter and our family. I’m extremely thankful that we found this place. We still stay in touch with multiple families that we met through the program. My daughter supported my writing this review which says everything. These are good people doing good work.

Since my time at pathways I have been given a whole new outlook on life, the staff is full of the kindest and most caring individuals you'll ever meet. They've gone above and beyond to make a difference in my life. Both the inpatient and outpatient programs are incredible and for me were absolutely needed. They have truly made a deep and lasting impact on my life and I cannot express how grateful I am to the wonderful therapists and staff members. They have honestly saved my life. I have made so many incredible changes in my life and I owe it all to Pathways. The Pathways inpatient facility gave me more than physical safety and care—it gave me something I had never truly known before: true emotional safety. The entire staff worked together to help me grow in the three areas of life that must be engaged—mind, body, and spirit. I walked in carrying a heavy prejudice against all men, but it was three men in particular who ended up aiding me the most, showing me that at our core, we really are all just human. My main therapist, Daryl, guided me through reshaping my mindset and digging into my past to uncover my deepest wounds. He stood by me on one of the most emotionally painful days of my life, and I will never forget Destiny—one of the incredible nurses—literally running after him as he was about to head home, just so he could be there for me in that moment. Dr. Sellers provided me with the best medical care I could have asked for. He never rushed through visits, always taking the time to explain not just what he was doing, but why—making sure I understood and felt safe with my treatment. I also want to thank Dawn, a powerhouse nurse who believed in my strength even when I couldn’t see it myself, and who pushed me to rise to the challenge. Michael Ryan gave me the gift of faith and clarity in my higher power. He challenged me in ways I desperately needed, helping me confront the destructive core beliefs that caused me so much suffering and turn them upside down. He gave me the tools to question my own thoughts, and to approach them with both curiosity and compassion. Somehow, even in the middle of facing the hardest truths, he still managed to make me laugh and feel safe. I would also like to thank Lonnie, whose powerful meditation sessions left a deep impact on me. His encouragement meant so much because it came from a place of such authenticity. To all of you—thank you not just for changing my life, but for teaching me how to truly live it to the fullest.

There are many wonderful organizations and people in service to helping others with treatment and recovery. For me, the right fit was, is, and will continue to be Pathways. These folks are authentic in their desire to help change lives. They are some of the most remarkable humans I have been blessed with coming across in life. They are talented and skilled, and well equipped to meet mental health and substance abuse needs. They are particularly experienced with integrating well-rounded trauma focused treatment, using a variety of evidence based treatment modalities. Pathways staff AND clients create a safe space of healing and growth, and a place of acceptance and belonging, and without judgement. As a pathways client, I feel a sense of unity, community, and unyielding support. Pathways has LITERALLY saved my life. They have helped me find healing, and open doors to change my life. They have equipped me with the confidence, strength, tools, and understanding of my root influences to my recovery needs to live a new life, my best life! When I sent my Godson to Liahona Academy, it was the hardest decision that I ever made. He has recently graduated, and I now know that it was also the best decision that I ever made. He struggled in the beginning, but once he finally understood that I only wanted him to become a better person, he started making changes. He is now ahead in school, has great grades, and an excellent relationship with anyone that he wants to have a relationship with. I can guarantee that if you sent your son here and you give him time to figure it out, he eventually will, and you will never regret your decision. My Godson came out of Liahona academy as a completely transformed man. He was a child with all kinds of manipulative “techniques”. Now he is a reborn man, a man who is honest and sincere, a man who you can count on to be a positive leader and have a great attitude. I was sent to Liahona Academy on September 20, 2019. I graduated on May 7, 2021. This placed changed my life. If I was not sent here, I would be either dead, homeless, or in jail. I was skipping school nearly every day and my grades were terrible. My relationship with my parents was terrible. I was smoking weed almost every day. I dreaded every aspect of my life. Now, I am a year ahead of my regular grade, with a GPA of 3.78. My relationship with my parents is fantastic. I don’t ever want to go back to my old life. I love this new life. Liahona was our last hope and nothing short of a miracle for saving my son’s life. The Liahona approach allows customized care based on timing of each boy’s willingness to embrace the opportunity for real, lasting change. The Owner Clay along with Rich, Bear and Beverly were wonderful to work with! The Liahona Virgin campus team have built an amazing program with a successful track record and long-term results at treating the whole person, not just the symptoms of bad behavior/substance abuse, but dares to dig deeper uncovering root causes of the problems. My son was a complex case as he exhibited erratic and dangerous behavior along with lingering effects of substance abuse which could have ended his life on multiple occasions prior to admittance. The highly-structured environment with set “wake” and “lights-out” times, allows the boys to get into a healthy, balanced and predictable schedule resulting in a solid foundation to become the best versions of themselves and make the most of the program. The well-regulated agenda culminates dependable sleep patterns, individual and group therapy, chores, healthy and consistent meals, with time built-in for exercise, school, homework, faith (of any kind or none at all), personal growth, journaling and reading. Based on progress, working the program and meeting milestones, the boys can earn group outings that may include volunteering a chance to give back to the community, or a fun outing like bowling, hiking or trip to the lake, etc. The staff at the Virgin facility were simply amazing! I can’t thank Rich (Program Director) and Bear (our son’s Therapist) enough for their vision and “lead by example” approach to earn credibility, respect and have such a positive power of influence over the most challenging of behaviors. Bear was very honest that our son was one of the more complex cases he had seen and that he wasn’t sure if Liahona would be the “best fit” for him. Bear was absolutely remarkable in treating my son, from day 1, as a fully 100% capable individual and he saw through the façade of substance psychosis, anger, low self-esteem, manipulative and self-centered behavior. The value of the Liahona program incorporates a loving and supportive environment, patiently allowing each boy to come to their own realization and choose to begin the journey-cycle of initiating progress, resulting in gaining confidence, motivating them to work harder, embracing the courage to face adversity and proving to themselves they are capable of setting goals and exceeding expectations. The Liahona program results in building confidence, fueling motivation for more continued growth and is the recipe for achieving not only success in Liahona but prepares each boy for a successful life outside of Liahona in the real world. My son entered Liahona as a troubled boy and graduated the program as a confident young man, eager to work hard, face adversity, exceed every goal placed in front of him, fully equipped with the knowledge and desire to help others along the way. We couldn’t be more proud and are forever grateful to the incredible staff and program at Liahona for doing God’s work here on earth!

Very worthwhile! Christina was outstanding, she helped me through the hardest stages of might own struggles. Also I found the group/ one on one, and physical nerofeedback therapy treatments to make a tremendous difference in how I feel :).

I have struggled with intense, debilitating depression for the better part of 15 years. I had tried everything - dozens of antidepressants, other various medications, eating healthy, exercising regularly, etc but nothing seemed to work to help alleviate my symptoms fully. After completing the full treatment of TMS, I can genuinely say my life has significantly changed for the better. I was staring to feel hopeless in my battle with depression, that I would live like this for the rest of my life. Since TMS, my depression and anxiety has all but disappeared. I feel happy, motivated, and enjoy the day to day experience like I never knew I could. It’s been months since my last treatment, yet everyday continues to be a blessing. Jamie is extremely knowledgeable , educated, and overall just a great person. He has helped to change my life and I will forever be grateful for him. I felt extremely comfortable working under Mike Hinkle, Kyle, Bek, and Jake as directors. Jake was wicked smart and poetic, challenged people, Beks a fantastic listnener and lax human who I wish I got to work with more. Kyle is very in touch with reality and intelligent, great with boundaries. Mike Hinkle is one of the best humans at connection and compassion I’ve witnessed. Brody is a great guide too, especially at building relationships, true role model human. Ted as well, that guy has a ton of experience and really enjoyed my week with him and Bek. I had some very difficult challenges before I made the tough decision to leave back to Arizona and felt loved and supported by all of them. I’ll certainly miss interacting with these stand out people.

I had the opportunity to attend Juniper Canyon when I was struggling with addiction and mental health challenges, and it was truly a lifechanging experience. This program is unlike any traditional treatment center. It pushed me in ways I had never experienced before, and because of that, I was able to face feelings and emotions that I had always managed to hide in other programs. Juniper Canyon created a safe and supportive environment where I could begin working through things that had been buried for a long time. Even though I wasn’t able to complete the entire program, the staff made sure I was cared for. They didn’t just let me go or leave me hanging they went above and beyond to transition me safely and lovingly into another program because of some personal things I was going through. They took the time and effort, even over several days, to make sure I got where I needed to be. I also continue to stay connected by showing up to alumni events, which have given me opportunities I never imagined like canyoneering, rock climbing, skiing, and building lifelong connections with amazing people after treatment. It was truly the beginning of a lifelong transition and recovery for me, and I am deeply grateful for what I learned and experienced at Juniper Canyon. It was one of the first places that truly challenged me while also showing me compassion and care. It was the stepping stone that I needed at that time

Juniper Canyon changed my life. I was a client 3 years ago; a girl who felt broken, with no purpose or direction in life, and no will to live. I found myself in the deserts and felt the magic of this program in every fiber of my being. I love being alive and calling myself a child of this land.
