Very disappointed with the behavior of the members of the so called hospital. Yesterday, from seven pm till four am.The sound was so loud that the whole building didn't sleep one minute of the night. With each call to the hospital, they would send us to voicemail. There's no national emergency or city emergency for them to turn on generators. This hospital should be closed and not be a member of our society immediately. I will be filing a lawsuit against them.

Disgusting. The people who work here are ashamed for the society of New York. Disrespectful with any regards to what’s happening to the community. They had extremely loud machinery generators working till 4 AM from 7 PM nonstop making me sleep in the bathtub with the doors closed. I closed myself in the bathroom So the sound would be less. I will be pressing legal charges against this hospital, even if you’re a hospital doesn’t mean that you can make all of the Neighbour feel miserable and not sleep for their only day off. This has been going on for over two years. They turn on their generators constantly, but recently they have been turning them on every other day. This hospital will be closed

The hospital is a disgrace to the community. They turn on extremely loud generators that make the neighboring buildings shake! The noise is so loud I don’t even hear my TV which is on full volume. They turn it on for hours at a time for no reason. There’s no emergency and the neighborhood has electricity!!!!

Accepted Insurance

Gracie Square Hospital – Inpatient works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

12-step icon12-Step

Participants in 12 step programs maintain access to community-based peer support, which is the programs' primary treatment modality. 12 step recovery combines personal growth with paper coaching. Participants regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, open to the public, and available multiple times per day in most communities. They are also mentored by self-selected sponsors who guide them through the steps of recovery. Age and gender specific and other specialized formats are common.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

The ultimate goal of a sober living home in New York is to provide structure and support for those who want to maintain sobriety. Often, sober living homes are a transitional space for those moving from residential treatment to mainstream life. Residents typically stay at least 90 days, with most living in the halfway house for more than six months.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

For many different stages and therapies offered during addiction treatment, it's essential to offer 24-hour clinical care in New York. often involves medication treatment for drug or alcohol detox. The withdrawal symptoms experienced during detox can be dangerous, but having medical experts on-site around the clock means someone is always there to step in and provide emergency medical care when and if it is ever needed.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New York is a short term therapeutic method used to treat substance use and mental health disorders. CBT typically lasts from five to 20 sessions, based on the individual's needs.

During dialectical behavior therapy in New York, you and your therapist will look for triggers and patterns that are guiding your emotions. This involves keeping a diary of your emotions and situations and sharing this each week with the therapist. This information will determine what you work on in each session.

Men and women receive emotional support from their peers during group therapy sessions. These are typically people who face the same struggles that you do. This exposure fosters a sense of camaraderie and community while reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness that often accompany addiction.

Men and women in New York undergoing one on one individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment will address the unique psychological and emotional aspects that are often associated with addiction triggers. Your therapist helps you build a relapse prevention plan and set achievable goals to improve your mental health and achieve long term sobriety.

Introduced in 1983, motivational interviewing is a method to help clients commit to change. It's based on the philosophy that change is hard, and clients must explore their own options and come to their own conclusions rather than receive warnings or advice from the therapist.

Trauma therapy involves working through the psychological and emotional impact of a traumatic event. You learn to identify the triggers and develop coping mechanisms that build a sense of safety and trust in yourself.

You can participate in couples therapy to focus on a specific problem in your relationship or for general strengthening of the relationship. This therapy aims to help you improve communication, address conflict, and grow in affection for one another.

Family therapy helps individual members of the family unit navigate the complexities of addiction. Therapists provide you with the tools you need to improve communication skills and conflict resolution. When families work together, they can support their loved one's recovery and help to restore balance and harmony within the household.

As you recover from addiction, eating the right foods will help you heal and build your health for long term sobriety. Nutrition therapy teaches you about the nutrition your body needs and how to eat the right foods to support your recovery.

Nicotine is an addictive substance found in cigarettes. When you stop smoking, your body experiences withdrawal from this substance. Nicotine replacement therapy lets you slowly reduce your nicotine intake so you experience minimal withdrawal symptoms. Eventually you'll be down to zero.

They are stealing peoples human rights. Refusing to give medication, keeping you mentally ill just for insurance money. Shut them down, they shouldn’t have any licensing. My friend is trapped in there right now and has no way out. TAKE AWAY LICENSING

Our daughter was admitted with some emotional issues we were told by the facility that they would be in contact with us about treatment options, after a little over a week we had still never received a phone call we reached out to the facility several times and were met with numerous voice mails, finally our daughter contacted us and informed us that the facility had placed her in a women's shelter with our even telling her family that they took this action. Currently we still have no clues as to her whereabouts.if you have loved ones please, don't trust them to this facility.

This place is absolutely horrible. I bought food for a loved one, and a staff member ate half of it. They neglect the property—phones are broken, cases are stolen, and cleanliness is nonexistent. There’s an odor throughout most of the unit. They left my family member stranded at the hospital for over six hours after picking up the wrong patient. On top of that, doctors barely check on patients—they hand out medication and disappear, which is unacceptable for anyone needing proper mental health care. If you care about your loved one’s well-being, do NOT send them here. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. IF I COULD GIVES THIS PLACE NO STARS I WOULD!

This place is horrible. Prybesterian Hospital is in partner with this Mental health Hospital. Sadly, they push people who need Mental health help to Graice Mental Health Hospital. This Hospital doesn't have a real psychiatrist doctor to evaluate their patients. My son was referred there, and even though I begged the social worker to please observe him for another week. She released him, he signed off the release papers, and she asked me to pick him up at the Hospital. The same day, My son was released, and the moment we got home, he took off out to the street. My son was there for one week only.

Dear Claribel, we’re sorry to hear that you weren’t satisfied with your recent visit. NewYork-Presbyterian strives to deliver compassionate, patient-first care, and we take this feedback very seriously.

I have recently been released from Gracie square hospital. I have very mixed feelings about the whole situation. With very few exceptions the staff was caring and professional. I've never been a patient in a psychiatric hospital before so I don't have much to compare it to other than my time years ago as a paramedic. This I have spent 13 days lost at sea. I've watched people die in front of me as a paramedic. I've been in serious motorcycle accidents. I've had cancer and survived it. Other than watching my mother wither way and die of cancer when I was a young man. This is the most horrible experience I have ever ever had. Starting halfway through it. Continuing now anytime someone surprises me or talks to me unexpectedly. I feel like there's a jolt of electricity going through my body. And I've never experienced so much stress and anxiety before. I hope I can recover from it. It wasn't for the drugs and the generally caring in supportive staff I'm not sure I'd ever recover from it. But my opinion is a place like this should not exist. I'm fortunate to have resources and friends so I could come back to a place to live and work. Very few people in there seem to have those same resources. I very much doubt I'll ever seek any kind of psychiatric help ever again. It's not worth the risk. Is not a place to heal is a place to be warehoused. There has to be a better way. Avoid being committed into one of these places at(almost) all cost.

This place is the stuff of nightmares and they keep you here against your will in violation of law. If this were a moral world, this place would be shut down and all the patients would be sent to Mount Sinai and handed $100,000 check for their troubles

This place is a nuisance. They run loud generators and ventilation systems constantly and piss off the entire neighborhood. The reviews of their care don't look much better. Surprise surprise, a rehab center acting like they can do whatever they want both to their patients and the people that live nearby. They've been told in no uncertain terms that running equipment at all hours of the day and night is not ok, both by their neighbors and the police. I can't imagine how loud it must be for the patients inside with how it sounds on the other side of an entire building. They persist in acting like the cruelest, rudest possible people both inside and outside their walls. Recent positive reviews appear botted as well, too many similar word choices and structure. I wonder if they realized how low their rating was getting? It was under 2 stars not long ago. Really tells you what kind of people run this place.
