About Groups

Groups is an Augusta, Maine, drug rehab providing specialized outpatient treatment for opioids and mental health. Adults can access in person and virtual evidence based therapeutic approaches, combining counseling with medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Their outpatient program offers targeted care for clients living at home while completing treatment. Clients meet with a licensed counselor and physician, creating a personalized treatment plan to help them achieve their recovery goals. They provide weekly in person and online group counseling, where clients build coping skills and connect with peers in recovery.

MAT, coupled with counseling, can help clients with opioid addictions sustain recovery. Their program provides fast access to suboxone to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Their care teams monitor clients’ progress and design a plan to taper them off of suboxone as they grow in recovery.

Groups accepts Optum, Humana, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Anthem, BlueCross BlueShield, and more. Insurance coverage generally varies, especially with out of network benefits. Contact your provider to verify your insurance for exact coverage details.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I was from another area and was based out of this office for a few months, and must say the treatment overall is not appealing at all. If you want to simply get medication for opioid use then this is the place to go as there is no accountability, therefore no treatment, in regards to long-term recovery. People can show up to one group a month and get their entire scripts for that entire month. Poor sense of support…I am thankful for having found another program that supports me in all aspects of my recovery. Medication does not equal treatment or recovery (I was in a hour group with 11 other people, though group would not start until 10 mins past the hour- so that is 4 mins a person to check in weekly).

All the staff at Groups recover together are so kind and compassionate. I can honestly say that everyone at Groups, from doctors to counselors and other staff, are truly invested in helping every single person that walks through the door recover and heal from addiction. Most importantly, Groups help you learn practical coping skills your actually going to use in everyday life when navigating through days when recovery can be difficult. We recover together, we heal together, and encourage one another. If your thinking about joining a MAT program (medication assisted treatment), as an option for your personal road to recovery, I highly suggest Groups Recover Together!

I have been a patient at groups for 3 years. With 1 relapse in which I didn't attend groups for about 4 months. I really like my counselor Katie Fletcher, whom I hope stays . I enjoy groups and the people in my group and don't like change. So groups is stuck with me. Also Katie and Jody are great. Also Dr. Russ, ur okay!!! Lol Thank you, Ashley Lapointe
