About Idaho Youth Ranch Harbor House
Harbor House and Idaho Youth Ranch were residential treatment programs for teens aged 12 through 17 experiencing difficulties, including substance use disorder. Unfortunately, the program is no longer available, but in its time, it provided 10 beds in a community education and treatment setting in a quiet residential neighborhood.
The short term program was often used to start residents on a longer term treatment plan. The program served boys and girls and was open by referral from select sources only.
Recovery and Stability Through Values
A big part of the program was guiding the residents through the development of their personal values and shaping a sense of morality that could guide them into adulthood. They reflected on not only how they treated each other but how they treated themselves, promoting self esteem alongside fairness to others.
On-Site Education
Harbor House also featured a school on campus for all residents, a feature that’s common in similar youth treatment facilities. Schools like these align with state education requirements, so residents stayed in step with their peers while undergoing treatment. Residential life also supported other areas of growth, like socialization, to elevate each resident to where they were expected to be development wise.

Addiction Treatments
Treatments
Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.
Programs
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
Clinical Services
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
