About Zinnia Healing Exeter

If you’re in the early stage of your recovery you’ll probably start with this rehab’s medical detox facility. While detox can be difficult, the staff makes it as comfortable as possible and helps you free your body from the effects of drugs and alcohol.

While clients love the peaceful rural setting of this rehab, that’s only part of its appeal. During your program here you’ll work with therapists and addiction counselors who specialize in these needs. You’ll have a nutritionist and medical staff on your team as well to help you with overall wellness.

Individual therapy and counseling are important parts of this program. There are many types of groups for group therapy to choose from, like 12 step groups and secular recovery groups. You’ll also benefit from family therapy and potentially medications for addiction too.

Clients at Zinnia Health talk about what a compassionate staff this rehab has and about how they were treated with warmth and respect. They look back on their experiences here as a life-changing period of healing and growth. And they can continue with these experiences because this rehab also has a great alumni support program for ongoing aftercare.

Honestly, a lot of the staff seems a little overworked and shorthanded. The food is good, but could be updated.Other than that, it's great to meet a lot of people.I love the groups and classes. Some of the staff needs to learn their boundaries. And the med doctors need to catch up and be more efficient honestly. They keep asking me for my review.I've been there twice for 6 days and I have left both times due to conflicts. Some of the staff is amazing. The other half seems a little overwhelmed and shouldn't be working there. I don't see how people that have their own issues are allowed to take care of 26 grown adults in a small corridor and say that they made it. While trying to tell others that they can when they can't even handle their own thing during the day. So honestly, I think a sober staff would be more at hand for a detox program than hearing that women are detoxing or need help and then being controlled by other people. That also could use their own help other than that. I think the program is very workable. Google, the groups are amazing. And I do have to say, i will specifically point out other people that were amazing. In my group and the staff, but the ones that came from a hard time and now trying to take care of people that are having a hard time. It just doesn't work for me. But the staff that didn't have an issue that were there for us seemed like they tried harder. So I'm gonna say again, it's better to have a completely. Sober staff, taking care of unsober people.

Accepted Insurance

Zinnia Healing Exeter works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. Phoenix House’s adult outpatient services are a comprehensive array of substance abuse and mental health programs – all using evidence-based practices – delivered in safe, supportive, CARF-accredited settings.

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients in inpatient rehab benefit from a highly structured and supportive environment away from the stressors that can trigger or exacerbate addiction. Inpatient treatment is designed primarily for clients in early recovery or at an increased risk of relapse. They provide intensive clinical supervision and addiction counseling, which may include group and family therapy. Clients may also engage in extensive addiction education to support long-term sobriety. Many programs offer complementary therapies, including art and animal therapy.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs provide a complete continuum of care for clients who have successfully completed higher level treatment programs but who may still be enrolled in formal outpatient treatments. These programs are also designed for clients who have been discharged from outpatient care. Drug rehab aftercare facilitates clients' long-term sobriety through a full suite of customized services aligned with the client's evolving needs. These services may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among others.

12-step icon12-Step

While AA and NA are not part of their evidence-based professional therapy, they are supportive recovery elements encouraged by all of our programs. They make AA and NA literature available, encourage attendance at on-site and off-site meetings, and often include AA and NA participation as part of aftercare plans. They are firm believers in 12-step recovery programs, but also recognize that they are not for everyone and may not be appropriate in every situation.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in Rhode Island provides a substance-free living arrangement option for those leaving inpatient rehab settings. Because it is not considered an official form of treatment, insurance typically does not cover the cost of rent for halfway house residents. However, some treatment programs offer financing for individuals who can benefit from a men's or women's sober living home. Grants and scholarships are also available for individuals who need help with rent payments.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive rehab without the need for 24-hour care. Whether it's an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option post-hospital or residential care, PHP treatment often includes relapse prevention strategies, medication management, and other behavioral therapy interventions. PHP treatment typically requires daily sessions for 4-8 hours, 5 days a week. Depending on your progress, the length of PHP treatment can vary, averaging 90 days. The cost of PHP treatment varies but is often fully or partially covered by providers.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. At Phoenix House, their drug detoxification and stabilization services first help adults safely detoxify while managing the symptoms of withdrawal, and then connect them to the next level of care: either residential, sober living or outpatient services. Throughout the process, every client is treated with compassion, dignity, and respect.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During drug rehab in Rhode Island, you'll participate in a variety of therapeutic interventions designed to help you break free from addiction. Common methods include cognitive behavioral therapy, music and art therapy, 12-step support, and nutrition/exercise.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

The word dialectical means opposing. Dialectical behavior therapy focuses on two opposites: acceptance and change. You'll learn to accept your emotions and circumstances while also working to make changes. You'll identify negative patterns and learn coping skills to create new, healthy patterns.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Couples who are in couples therapy meet with a licensed counselor weekly. The therapist mediates while each partner voices their concerns. The couple then receives feedback and insights on how to work through the challenges they're facing in the relationship.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

Phoenix House believes that successful, sustained recovery from substance abuse requires family involvement, support, and encouragement. Families, too, need to reverse the damage of drugs and alcohol. Their staff works closely with family members to help them understand the role they play in recovery.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy is offered within a holistic treatment center for alcohol and drug addiction treatment. It provides you with structured activities that improve your physical and mental health, such as sports, creative arts, and nature activities. These help you express your emotions and reduce stress while building a supportive network and community of peers.

Awful experience, seems they love to pack as many people into a tight space as possible for that insurance money. If you want to brag about how cool you are because you were a terrible criminal, got caught, and was the hardest person in prison then this place is for you. Toxic environment and I'd hardly call it therapeutic. Just seems like a place where people can avoid jail. Once inside the building the nurses seem annoyed to help you. There are some really good staff I must say. But overall if you genuinely want a therapeutic environment to heal I'd avoid this place entirely. If you just don't want to do jail time but want to kick it with like minded people then this is the place for you. You can find sobriety anywhere but I don't recommend this place...

I am very disheartened to say that this program clearly prioritizes profit over patient care. My brother was inpatient at this facility. He ended up having to be sent out to the hospital for stomach issues. When I went to collect his clothing that I was reassured by the staff at Zinnia Exeter, Rhode Island was locked up was safe, it had all been stolen, and I was completely stonewalled by the rehab as to how to get my money back. Every piece of clothing is catalog when it is dropped off and that all correlates to the receipt I still have. Yet a week later, a 40 minute trip to the facility on Sunday and a reassurance that I would be called by the boss on Monday have all come to nothing. I am recovering from cancer surgery and took money I did not have to buy those clothes for my brother. Not only did they allow those clothes to be either misplaced or stolen, but now they will not stand behind the mistake and reimburse me the $117 I spent. I also witnessed a drug raid in progress by the state police while I was on the premises waiting for these items to be retrieved. Considering somebody obviously snuck drugs into the facility, coupled with my own experience. I do not recommend this facility, unless you want your loved one who is already struggling to be literally robbed of the clothes off their back or to relapse because drugs are on the premises. This is not the place to send someone you love. It’s disgraceful. It’s disheartening and they made no attempt to make it right even with a receipt.

They push ppl out in the middle of detoxing knowing it's dangerous without being monitored by these so called "Professionals" are they really professional if they do that? Horrible staff and the ones running it is not as great either. They need to be under investigation as well as these other Detox centers like Amos House as well
