About Singing River Health System

You need a referral to participate in their inpatient program. There, you’ll receive round the clock care in a therapeutic environment. Something I found interesting about the facility was the range of different issues they’re set up to treat. They’re the only unit on the coast of the Mississippi Gulf that provides acute psychiatric treatment and medical treatment for people with behavioral health issues.

If you need to stabilize before you start your treatment plan, you can do so there. Then you’ll start your custom program, which will include a mix of individual and group counseling. Other services you can participate in on site include psychological testing, medication management, social work assessments and recreational therapy.

Don’t expect them to update you on a surgery even if you are the listed person to contact. They will not call you and they will not give you an update if you call. They will however promise for a nurse to call and never make that call. I wouldn’t take my dog here.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) require substantive support as they prepare to transition into standard outpatient (OP) care or community-based recovery programs, such as AA. Most IOP clients are in early recovery or are at an elevated relapse risk. Intensive outpatient treatment generally involves multiple, extended sessions weekly. Many programs require clients to participate in a minimum of nine therapeutic hours weekly. The most common treatment modalities include psychotherapy, recovery education, and medication assisted treatment.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

First off im not the type to just up and run to the hospital unless im having an issue beyond my control but here it goes, i needed a aspiration off the knee done because i have gout really bad since 18yrs old 37 now and i needed it drained, most cases i just need something for inflammation but this time i knew what needed to be done, anyways i end up leaving walking out because i refused to take an x-ray of what i already x rayed a month and a half prior for same related issues and my insurance charges $200 each time i i get one,i just dont have it and it was a waste of my money.after refusal of that i got ignored after being told i can 1 on 1 the doctor that never showd up to hear me out and kept me waiting for no reason just to say he wont do it and said im still getting chargerd for vitals so i left. went to another place had no problem they listed to me and didn't think they knew my me better than myself and drawed 80ccs of fluid off my knee and now im almost in recovery thanks to listening hears. Ps. singing river i called my insurance and explained what happened and they said they wont be paying either sincei had proof of everything...hopefully this helps someone else! Dont let doctors forget who they work for and dont be there experimentation..god bless every body my you find relief . 🙏

Had the BEST experience from my pre-op appointment to surgery recovery area. Everyone was customer oriented, walking you through the hospital so I wouldn't get lost, explaining every part of the process and then Dr. Finan!!! He is so kind and professional. Also, i have rolling veins and they had the IV in with two sticks....other hospital it took eleven tries. Singing River Pascagoula was great!!

Should be -5 stars leave you in the waiting room for hours stuck me with a tube for IV and left it in for an hour before setting it this place should be closed bull dozed and rebuilt with new staff. Slinging liver hospital where they will let you keel over and die as long as insurance is good. (And folks behind the counter play on their phones and get paid for it)

If you are filling out paperwork for someone that does not have insurance, they will put you as a responsible party to pay that bill so be mindful about who you help fill out that paperwork

Response from the owner
Thank you for sharing this, and we understand how billing issues can be frustrating. Your feedback has been passed along to our Guest Relations team. If you'd like to provide more information about yourself and your experience so that we can better assist you, please reach out to us at Contact.Us@MySRHS.com.

Worst hospital. They should close the Pascagoula hospital. It's useless. I went with high blood pressure and chest pain, and they left me in the waiting room. At another hospital, they would have seen me quickly. Anyone with a blood pressure of 180/105 would see you faster, in my opinion. At Ocean Spring Hospital, they see you faster.

Response from the owner
We’re sorry to hear about your experience, Edwin. We understand the seriousness of your symptoms and regret the delay in care. Please know your concerns have been shared with our Guest Relations team.

Response from the owner
Demiya, we’re very sorry you felt uncared for during your visit. That’s not the experience we want any patient to have. We’ve passed your feedback along to our Guest Relations team.
