About Summit Stone Health Partners

SummitStone Health Partners, which is situated in Loveland, Colorado, is a behavioral health facility that does a lot with treating substance misuse and mental health issues. You’ll get same-day access, which I think is fantastic as it gives you immediate support whether you’re doing a one-time session or beginning ongoing treatment at their clinic. They also offer primary care in partnership with Sunrise Community Health, so you’ll be able to get your physical and mental health needs met.

Addiction Treatment in Loveland from People Who Understand You

For anyone experiencing urgent mental health challenges, they offer crisis intervention to keep you stable during a difficult time. I also like that they have peer support services because it means that the people who are helping you can also relate to you, as they have been in your shoes. You could also get vocational support, meaning help with employment and job readiness training as well as job placement services.

They have some of the more expected services, such as group therapy and on-site pharmacy help, as well as medication management. Their telehealth services allow clients to access services from remote locations virtually.

Now, moving on to some of their more mental health and substance abuse services, they have adult addiction services for those 18 and older and adolescent addiction services for younger teenagers who are facing similar challenges.

Some of these services may include individual therapy, relapse prevention groups, educational sessions, anger management sessions, and cognitive behavioral therapy. They also have mindfulness practices, yoga, and medication evaluation. They have withdrawal management and medication-assisted treatment as well.

I have been under care here for a year. I found a group therapy and individual therapist that are very supportive that I loved to learn with and from. I have enjoyed it until recently. I faithfully went to group every week for a year only missing one. Our group became a community I relied on weekly to help with my mental heath and aid my healing. They decided a policy change needed to happen because our group was sought after. Over half of the group has been told their therapy was ending through no fault of our own but they can rejoin for one more time frame or go to other groups. We raised our voices and received false hope about being able to stay in our group after originally hearing of the forced change. Summitstone failed to communicate effectively and in turn over 9 people just in our group are forced to end our therapy, change our schedules and hope something healthy and productive can take the place of a group therapy that did work for us so much so we chose to show up routinely. I can t speak for them but I can speak for myself when I say how my life will be negatively impacted by this forced change. We did have a person by the name of Beth whom came in and heard our frustrations yet we were met with the most inconsiderate responses for our concerns from her.Our mental health matters. I didn t understand the negative cloud surrounding Summitstone until now.Now I understand it isn t about our healing, it s about our compliance, obedience and the fact that we cannot do anything for them to see us as more than the people who trusted them.We are and will be negatively impacted by this policy. How utterly disappointed I am that the resource we relied on became another institution to not trust or respect.Hope their needs were met at the expense of ours.

Edit: I made this post 4 months ago and absolutely nothing has changed and honestly shame on me. For sticking with them as long as I have. I am constantly running out of my medications. Because they keep canceling my appointments without telling me. All this week i have been calling and calling to get my medications filled. And no one calls me. I finally heard from someone who is guess works with the dr I am supposed to see. The only dr they have available is not available till March. Also i was then told i had to come on site to see this Dr. I have always done zoom and have never been told i HAD to come into the office. So this woman that was telling me this. Was first of all incredibly rude. And had the nerve to accuse me of missing my appointments. Everytime I tried to defend myself and explain what was really going on. She would snap at and interrupt me everytime. I have found an online psychiatrist that accepts my insurance and can see me as early as next week. And they offered me lots of help with getting my medications. I am going to find every single place that I can file a claim or report against Summitstone. They need to be shut down immediately!!This place use to be good. But as of the past couple years. They have really dropped the ball. I asked too be matched up with a therapist when I started with them. I ended up seeing 4 different therapist in the span of 2 years. So I gave up for a while. Then this last year I asked to be assigned a new therapist. And they tell me I have to be put on a waiting list. Only to never once get a call back. Then I was working with a case worker. On a few things. And she told me I could email her anytime with questions. I have never gotten any sort of response from her. And when I did hear from her . She would basically tell me to do the things I needed her to do, by myself. And finally this is the last straw. I have been running low on my meds. And then come to find out that they have to get me a new dr because they are having a reduction of staff. This is now 5th time I've had to have a new dr for my meds. So I call to set up an appointment for a new dr. But they won't return any of my calls! I have left a message everyday this past week. But no one has gotten back too me. Now I'm out of one my important meds. Between the constant shifting of staff and the absolute lack of professionalism of this place. I think it needs to be shut down. They clearly don't care about their patients. I would not recommend this place to anyone, stay away!!

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients entering an inpatient rehab typically require more intensive treatment than those in outpatient care. Clients often start inpatient treatment immediately after completing a detox program. Upon admission, they engage in extensive psychotherapy, receive recovery-focused life skills training, and participate in evidence-based complementary therapies, such as meditation, massage, acupuncture, and/or animal, creative arts, recreational, and experiential therapy.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients receiving care in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) engage in a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week on average. However, many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP services are ideal for those in early recovery or who are at an elevated risk of relapse. IOP may be chosen in lieu of inpatient rehab. Treatment modalities typically include psychotherapy, life skills training, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and holistic care.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program have completed active addiction treatment and are receiving services designed to promote their sustained sobriety. Drug rehab aftercare typically encompasses a wide variety of medical, mental health, and social services meant to facilitate clients' reintegration into their home, workplace, and community. Clients typically collaborate with their case manager and/or recovery team to identify and access the services they need, often including peer coaching, career counseling, and care referrals.
12-step icon12-Step
Addiction recovery based on a 12 step program model is rooted in peer support and spiritual development. Participants regularly attend 12 step meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and available throughout the day and night in most communities. Clients' recovery is achieved progressively as they work through the 12 steps, which teach them to understand and address the root causes of their addiction, become accountable for their choices, and relinquish control over that which cannot be changed.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Residents of a sober living home in Colorado are encouraged to continue to develop coping skills and habits they learned in treatment. They can typically live at the halfway house as long as they want, until they feel they are ready to transition home. During their stay, they must adhere to house rules, which may include contributing to household chores, abiding by a curfew, and maintaining a job.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Colorado is necessary when someone needs help with substance abuse but is unwilling to stop using despite multiple negative consequences. Intervention services are available to walk family and friends through a step-by-step process of planning and executing the intervention. A successful intervention requires careful planning and set-up as well as appropriate follow-up. Intervention services can be crucial to carrying out each of these steps.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
For those that don't require round-the-clock care, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term option that can be used as a step-down treatment or as an alternative to intensive hospitalization. PHP treatment requires up to 5 days a week of commitment where you'll receive 6 to 8 hours of support every day. While a partial hospitalization program typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The process of medically assisted detox usually takes place in an inpatient setting while under the 24/7 care of a team of licensed medical professionals. It's considered the safest way to rid the body of all addictive substances and prepare you for a transition into either an inpatient program or various forms of outpatient rehab. The program length varies depending on your needs, but it typically takes about 5-7 days.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Therapists who employ motivational interview techniques seek to draw out the client's ideas about change and allow them to draw their own conclusions about the need for change. This method is often effective for clients who feel unsure about their ability to change or the need for change.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nicotine replacement therapy treats your physical symptoms of withdrawal so you can better focus on breaking down any mental or emotional addiction you have to smoking. Options include nicotine patches, gum, and lozenges, as well as prescription inhalers and sprays.

I have been calling for months now and I get no phone calls back. I DESPERATELY need to start with a therapist soon or I'm afraid I will end up in the hospital again for mental health breaks. UNACCEPTABLE please don't respond to this with your usual "We are sorry..." Just do better. I'm calling my insurance tomorrow morning to see how to get hooked up with a therapist online. Probably faster. Two words... Do better... People can't be taken off meds without the proper way to do it. Weaning off of them is suggested but what do I know? Thank God I am filling my psych meds with my GP, that will continue because I have immediate responses with withdrawal and have attempted suicide or threatened it each time someone messing with them. Dear Goddess I hope I can get help soon.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:

Quality is rapidly declining! There is absolutely no consistency and little care about individuals as humans. It has turned into corporate numbers! Their groups have become dry, shallow, repetitive, and there is little consistency in keeping good/qualified people staffed. There seems to be too much focus on certain areas. There is going to be more not so good than good being done if things don't change. And some people have been here for years getting services. I feel bad for some of their staff. *No need for generic feed back or verbatum response*

Countless bad counselors always pick sides. Judge you. If you're unemployed, they'll just constantly sit there telling you you need a job when you need mental health help first. Not to mention the psychiatrists they have are the biggest jokes of anyone I've ever witnessed. They push meds. Don't listen to what you say. If you have bad reactions to meds they just tell you oh that's part of it and want you to continue.

I work with adults with disabilities who have used summit stone for years. They recently laid off a ton of employees without any notice. This directly impacts our individuals who use them to manage medications and therapy. One individual I specifically work with lost her therapist and the nurse practitioner without any notice or thought. How incredibly sad for the vulnerable people they serve. They literally left them high and dry.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
We sincerely understand your concerns regarding recent changes and the impact it has on you and your clients' experience with SummitStone, Christine. We understand how important it is to have a provider you trust, and we apologize for any inconvenience you’ve encountered with the recent changes. If you’d like to discuss this further or if there’s anything we can do to address your concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and speak with our Client and Family Advocate at (970) 892-2852.

I was recommended to this facility by my primary physician, and for a few years it worked out fine. Not perfect, but enough for me to get by. In the last two years, this network has completely fallen off in terms of bedside manner and even just basic competency. I have requested counseling numerous times and been told I would be put on a wait list, only to follow up and have this request completely glossed over. I have had to fight tooth and nail to get medications adjusted with the psychiatrist because I still feel like challenging dominance with a Semi for the role of alpha. But the last straw was when I was trying to get prescriptions renewed, said psychiatrist was on vacation, and the call staff were so incredibly wishy-washy about whether or not they would let me speak to someone else in the meantime, ultimately having no success. If this isn't the first time someone's sought out a second opinion due to the headache of just trying to get a first one, I can only imagine that the prior incidents were due to this very facility. One star, if only because it's the lowest option. This clinic and its partners should not even be recognized as a legitimate business at this point.
