I have struggled with mainly meth addiction for 8 years or so. I was feeling so sick everyday. My body felt toxic, the meth wasnt giving me energy anymore, I was depleted. I was craving nature and nutrition.
I have been desiring to come to innerbalance for over 6 years now. I didn't have the money then. I went to 2 other rehabs before this one covered by medicaid instead. I honestly am thankful for all 3 of the rehabs I have been too. I have learned so much and after completing innerbalance and understanding all my underlying health issues and learning how to heal I finally believe I can move foward past addiction. I am so thankful and blessed to have gotten to come here. I haven't felt this good for a longtime. I feel joy again.
I have a solid recovery plan, relapse prevention plan and relapse plan. Everyone that works here is so encouraging and supportive. I have had so many laughs and good times here. The VAs that mg husband has gone to; Austin, Loveland, Denver, and Caribou, Maine, have been great.
I have been using VA for over a decade. Only thing I have had is a little difficulty with is getting my prescriptions correct.
That problem has been rectified quickly by the staff.
In the last few years I have had a brain bleed requiring emergency surgery.
I was in a coma for about a month. During that time, I was also diagnosed with Leukemia.
VA took care of everything. When I awoke, I was worried about how these very expensive medical procedures would be paid for.
I understand that the medical staff is overwhelmed and I take that into consideration.
Overall, my belief is that the VA healthcare system is living up to their promises.

Serenity House is set at a key location in Loveland, CO. I first arrived at Serenity House in 2010 and had 4 previous Sober Living House experiences with which to compare it to, and Serenity House won. I ended up staying there for 6 months when I decided that I was fit for reentering normal society, but I relapsed quickly and hightailed it back to a sober room there. It’s easy to blame everyone and everything for a relapse except yourself, and I started to blame Serenity House for drinking again, but as my mind cleared I realized that the blame lies exclusively with the disease and me.
During the numerous times I’ve enthusiastically moved back to the Serenity House after making my life an alcoholic mess, I’ve always found it to be a safe, clean, and very tolerable place to begin or continue my recovery. The rules and responsibilities are sensible and reasonable. Presiding over a couple dozen addicts and/or alcoholics is like herding cats – it’s not always easy. Yes, it is a for-profit business, and yes, kudos to the owners for having a safe and comfortable place for us to get our act together.
