About Sundance Hospital

Inpatient at this center is used to bring in clients who need to be stabilized. Clients reside at the establishment until fully stabilized and in an improved sense of functioning. Treatment plans are provided to the client after stabilization. This is a crisis center where the length of stay is eight to twelve days.

The outpatient program relies on a group therapy model. Clients attend sessions to share their experiences in a supportive environment. Individuals work toward their goals on their personalized treatment plan while building skills in group counseling sessions. The outpatient program lasts four to six weeks.

Sundance Behavioral does not list who they are in-network with, but most major insurance providers will typically cover mental health services. Major insurance providers who can help with this include Humana, Beacon, Anthem, ComPsych, Magellan Health, and Kaiser Permanente. Some other ones include Aetna, Amerigroup, United Healthcare, Ambetter, BlueCross/BlueShield, and Cigna. Those with out-of-network benefits should contact their provider to verify coverage.

Horrible experience, first of all when my son was admitted they told me a physician was going to contact me about his treatment plan. Never happened. The two days of the visit my son was wearing the same clothes. He was cold. I took sweaters he never received they even got lost. Intake therapist said I could get him some books which they never gave them to him. I never received a call from a therapist or anyone until Friday night that I wanted to ask if I could take him home. When he was discharged on Monday, nurse did not seem to know what he was doing. There was no family therapy, or resources after discharged. I called Monday so I can get some background on the treatment plan they said that they were going to leave a note so patient advocate or therapist could call me. No call yet. My son said that most of the time they were watching TV and personal language was inappropriate.

Accepted Insurance

Sundance Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

if you love someone, DONT SEND THEM HERE. i was a patient here and it was horrible. they do EVERYTHING they can to keep you here longer to get a big payout. they feed you spoiled food, lie to you about discharge dates, and truly do not care one bit about helping you (even one of the staff ADMITTED THIS AND SAID THAT THE FACILITY ONLY CARES ABOUT GIVING DRUGS.) save your money and take your loved ones SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I just got out this hospital. One of the worst experiences of my life the staff yell at the children and the adults are treated as inmates. The night shift will purposely do things to trigger patients. You aren't allowed outside or in the gym your kept on unit 100% of the time. The doctors don't listen to the patients, you'll be forced to take medications. If you refuse the medicines they keep you there longer. Only went in with postpartum depression, now I'm looking for a therapist for the trauma I got while being there. DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY OR CHILDREN HERE. Its ran the same way Sundance was!!!

Currently the doctor stalled to keep my (person) in there when she wasn’t even evaluated, he stalled to get a OPC to keep them longer after signing an AMA and their therapist even said the doctor was slacking and hasn’t made any effort… this place needs to be investigated and will be hit with a major lawsuit if nothing is done soon. This is a warning. Never send anyone you love here. They are corrupt and evil

Horrible experience! This is the second time my son has been in this facility. The first time a couple of years ago was positive but this time it was horrible! Upon intake the ladies that conducted the intake did not even write down his medication list. I tried to had them a list and they refused. Only wrote down the medication and nothing else. Not the mg or dosage nothing. On top of that they didn't even finish listing all his medication. I only spoke to his therapist twice during his week stay. The first time was just to get information on why he was there and the second time she called me to ask if he had ever been sexually assaulted because he "exposed himself" to other peers. But she couldn't tell me how he exposed himself. He said his arms were in his shirt because he was cold and when he stood up his shirt lifted up and showed his belly. The doctor called his grandmother to discuss his treatment plan and when I called to find out why he said he was going by the paperwork he had when he stayed there 2 years ago. When discussing his medication I realized they didn't even have the right medication he was currently taking or the dosage. I explained to the doctor I did not want my son on a certain kind of medication but he made me feel like I had no choice but to accept the changes. Like he wasn't even going to look into something different. They started my son in the adolescent section but switched him to pediatric and did not tell me anything. The one visit I got to have with him was cut short because they didn't tell me they switched him and I visited him at the adolescent time instead of the pediatric time so they had to go get him. When he was discharged they gave me a lot of blank pages of stuff. I did not receive a medication list at all. I called to ask about a medication list and got transferred 3 times and then was transferred to a voicemail. Extremely frustrated with a place that is supposed to be a good support for our children's mental health.

My daughter was there for seventeen days and when she finally got released she was sent to a different hospital 2 days later. Worst staff and awful doctors. If zero stars was an option I would choose that.

Let me just say the front desk ladies were absolutely the nicest and very helpful. As for the doctor and/or clinician…trash. My son was there for a week. The entire week he was there, I talked to one person..a nurse and that was the day after he was admitted. She only informed me of the medication they were putting my son on. Going forward, no one called me about how he responded to the medication, never talked to a doctor regarding treatment plans, and my son did not have any therapy sessions. Everything was communicated through my son on his allowed phone calls, not by staff. On top of that, I had a scheduled parent meeting to discuss his progress or treatment that never happened. My son basically said he was given medicine and sent to his room.UNACCEPTABLE !!! I requested a discharge immediately. My son said after the doctor received his request for discharge, she was flat out rude to him. A place I thought would help my son did nothing but further prove I should have went with my first gut instinct.
