About Therapeutic Health Services – Youth and Family

Home to the world’s largest building by volume, the Boeing Factory, Everett, Washington also features Therapeutic Health Services – Youth and Family. Since 1972, this behavioral health organization has provided comprehensive services for Puget Sound adults, youth, and families. You and your loved ones can access various outpatient programs to overcome addiction and co-occurring disorders.

Their programs prioritize a culturally relevant whole person approach, ensuring you receive care that meets you where you are in recovery. You can access assessments, medication assisted treatment (MAT), group, individual, and family counseling, mental health care, specialized programs, and much more.

Empowering Mothers on the Path to Recovery

What strikes me most is their program for parenting and pregnant women. They help mothers and expectant mothers foster a healthy, stable lifestyle for their families. You can access targeted behavioral and primary care to develop the tools to sustain recovery.

They offer specialized counseling sessions focused on women’s issues, like sexual abuse, reproductive health, child abuse, and parenting skills. You can also access tailored groups to connect with other women on similar paths and grow together.

Comprehensive Support for Veterans

vd
Another great feature I noticed was their Veteran’s Outreach Program. You and your family can access assistance with securing military benefits to enhance your journey. Their dedicated Veterans outreach specialists also connect you with essential care for addiction, co-occurring disorders trauma, and more.

A Fresh Start for People in the Criminal Justice System

Lastly, I think their King County Drug Court program is wonderful. They provide treatment as an alternative to incarceration to break the cycle of addiction and criminal behaviors.

You’ll benefit from proven therapeutic interventions, including MAT, intensive substance and mental health treatment, life skills training, educational and employment services, and more. They offer a second chance to get your life on track and prevent recidivism.

I've been dosing here since 2014. I've lived in the Everett area for that entire time, until 2 weeks ago. I moved to Gold Bar, the only place I could afford to get a house for my kids these days. Now I have to travel 2 hours a day just to get my dose. This disrupts taking care of my kids, makes it REALLY hard to keep a job, costs me about 60 bucks every 2 days in my truck to get there. I guess poor planning on My part, but a family of 4 was crammed into a 1 bdrm apartment, our house is huge and it was best for the kids, so I had a decision to make. They do give u options for carries. But it still makes it really hard and stressful to get to that point, financially and otherwise. Haven't I demonstrated that I'm capable of taking my dose every day? Haven't missed a day in 10 years, shouldn't that be enough?

Accepted Insurance

Therapeutic Health Services – Youth and Family works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

I've never seen such an inefficient, unproductive mess in my entire life. Lines build up around the building, they make you wait outside in the rain, workers stroll in 10 min late daily, then proceed to sit down and pull out their cell phones while the line just grows and grows. One lady comes in every morning late and proceeds to OCD clean her entire area for 20 min before opening her line, as if anything is even there?Meanwhile the staff are cracking jokes and doing everything except opening their lines and actually working. They also seem to close their lines every 20ish min for any old reason, even for personal calls. They have no respect for the people that go there. Well some of us pay out of pocket and have jobs and lives and can't wait 30 min every morning because of staff. It's only the staff in the back, the front staff are great. Do yourself a favor and go to the other clinic in Lynnwood, everyone told me not to go to the Everett one and man I should have listened.

If you're a Medicare patient or expect to be billed in a timely manner, forget about it. It took them a full year to tell me that the provider I was working with wasn't credentialed to see me and I had to start over with someone else at the Seneca branch. I've tried to get the billing department to work with me but they never call back. I had to wait 3 days for someone to call me back just to pay my copay. And even then he didn't apply it to my copay, but my owing balance even though I said it was specifically for my copay for services in January of 2025. They won't even tell you that you owe a bill for the whole year until right before Christmas and state that it's "seriously over due" even though it was the first invoice I ever received. You can't do that to people on a fixed income. And right before Christmas? That's diabolical. I was told to wait to pay my bill because they were going to see what they can do about it. They never call you back and when you do finally get a hold of the person you were speaking to, she doesn't remember you or remember telling you to hold off, and kept pestering me to pay my bill, making me feel like that conversation never happened. It's easy to take advantage of the mentally ill with that. How can a business with multiple offices not have a central and online billing system? At least the therapist I saw for a year before I got cut off was excellent. I wish I could continue to see her but I can't. I cannot recommend this place.

They take advantage of their power to the point of abuse. I'm a senior and my health has been put at risk continuesly. To the point I've had to call an ambulance and need test done. May be something very wrong but don't have much time due to their demands of my time. Abusive, reckless with patients health.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Hi Carol, we're sorry you've had a negative experience with THS, it's certainly never our intent to put anyone at risk. If you'd like to discuss this issue with us further, please feel free to fill out a Contact Us form: https://ths-wa.org/about-us/contact/

No complaints, they hold you accountable and give you the tools you need and the rest is up to you. I've been here almost 3 years and I just got my once-a-week carries. Everyone recovers at their own pace.

Response from the ownerInvalid relative date format:
Hi Cody, thank you for your review! It's so true that all we can do is offer support, accountability, and the tools for success but the rest is up to the individual. It's how you gain back your independence and it sounds like you're now well on your way. Wishing you the best on the rest of your recovery journey!
