About Assisted Recovery Centers of America (ARCA)

Assisted Recovery believes addictive disorders are a chronic medical disease, and they use medications both to help clients detox as well as for continued recovery. They use FDA approved medications to help clients’ brains heal and for relapse prevention. They provide same day appointments so clients can start treatment right away.

What’s unique about this center is that they offer an alternative to 12 Step programs. They use proven behavioral therapy treatment, medication support, and long term access to group counseling sessions. This program is designed to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety in their own homes and on their own terms.

Long time client and to be honest the quality of service has fallen very far, almost to the point i am looking for better care. They are more interested in being inclusive that providing the best possible care. The doctors let there person feeling dictate prescriptions even when proven to be affective. They will not even answer the phone most days during open hours. Unless you have no other options do start services here and if you are unfortunate enough to have to go keep all records, paperwork, appointment schedules as evidence of why you need to seek help elsewhere. I hope one day ARCA will return to the amazing level of care i knew in the past, as for now i wouldn't recommend it to anyone i care for or a hated enemy that really wants to be sober and willing to put in the effort. An AA meeting is 1000 times more helpful than here.

It is mostly impossible to get through to the 1430 Olive location. They almost never call back, never answer the phones, and are incredibly difficult to get a hold of in case of a related emergency. Certain employees will answer the phones and then immediately hang up. Some will answer and say wrong number before abruptly hanging up. I've been calling the same number for two years. I know that's a lie. I am dealing with a family emergency currently and have been calling since 10 AM to no avail and have been hung up on 4 times before anyone even says hello. They do it just to free up the line. I'm appaled as they've always been bad about communication, but never THIS bad. Especially dealing with funerals, travel, and family issues while balancing sobriety they make it very hard to just fix a problem. And I'm now editing this review to add even more of their crap. So it turns out, even when they mess things up themselves, either by sending you the wrong information or the wrong link, or rescheduling your appointment without telling you, they just tell you tough shit and let you go several days and even up to a week without medications that they've made sure you're completely dependent on for your sobriety. By forcing you to either find a ride to the clinic 1 hour and 30 minutes away to fix THEIR mistake or wait for their notoriously delayed phone call. Leaving patients without essential medications, advice, and assistance when they simply don't feel like dealing with it. This place is despicable and I will never set foot in this "clinic" again.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs are designed to enable participants to understand and address the root causes of their addiction, accept responsibility for their life choices, and relinquish control over that which they cannot change. Participants are expected to regularly attend 12 step meetings and to be mentored in their recovery journey by a self-selected sponsor. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public. A variety of formats are available, including programs for seniors, teens, family members, and nondenominational Christians.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy in Missouri is to help clients change their thinking and behavioral patterns. Strategies of treatment include role playing, facing fears, and calming techniques.

I am a recovering IV heroin addict, I have struggled with maintaining sobriety and managing bipolar and anxiety. I have been going here for a few years now and I have been able to stay clean with MAT and consistently manage my mental health. I have seen a few different providers in my time there but they have all been amazing! I feel heard and safe and every there has your best interest in mind. I look forward to my appointment every month. Everyone from the receptionists to the pharmacy and providers are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Awful, passive aggressive doctors and staff. No empathy or bedside manner. They're the worst!

I can’t thank the team enough and especially Dr.Throop. I was in and out of rehabs for years in my younger years and even told I would die by other counselors at said rehabs. After a stent of sobriety I messed up bad and was depressed to no end. Thankfully through a random friend I found this amazing clinic. The team from the greeters to the nurses, the pharmacist, and especially the psychiatrist have put me on a sober path that has led me to one of the happiest times in my life. Even after a separation and split custody of the kids even they can see how much happier I am. I owe my life and 3.5 yrs of sobriety and counting to this amazing place and people. Special thanks to Dr. Throop for helping me keep a level head and showing me life is amazing after we begin to recover. From the bottom of my heart if you are struggling this amazing team will show you all the good sober living has to offer. It may not always be easy but life rarely is… but the ease is 100 fold when your mind is not clouded and surrounded by people that will cheer you on no matter what life throws at you. I will say that. Success is more obtainable with ARCA and worth the alternative by light years!

I have tried to call ARCA for almost 2 hours now and NO ONE WILL ANSWER THE PHONE!! How are you suppose to get ahold of anyone if they won’t answer the phone? How does this place stay in business when they won’t answer the phone??? I just don’t get it. I’m extremely frustrated.

Response from the owner

Our team works hard to answer all calls, but at times, high call volumes may cause delays. We truly appreciate your patience and want to ensure you get the support you need. If you're still having trouble reaching us, we encourage you to visit our location in person during business hours.

We value your feedback and are committed to improving our responsiveness. Please let us know how we can assist you.

Rarely do I ever find myself writing reviews- But this place has gone so far above and beyond in helping me get my life back on track. Without the help of their doctors, nurses and the offices’s flexibility as a whole; I don’t think getting clean would have happened for me. I can’t finish this review without mentioning Amanda Hartsell and giving her 10 stars out of 5. She’s been helpful beyond words. After having so many issues between my pharmacy, and insurance recently- She’s gone above and beyond helping me get my medications and making sure I’m covered. And all without making me feel like a burden for it. Thanks to ARCA I’m 8 months clean from Fentanyl, and I appreciate everyone from the office who’s helped me get here.

Response from the owner

We’re especially thrilled to hear how much Amanda Hartsell has supported you along the way. She truly embodies our commitment to compassionate care, and we will make sure she sees your heartfelt shoutout.

Your journey is an inspiration, and we are honored to have played a role in it. If there’s anything you ever need, we’re always here to support you. Keep up the amazing work—you’ve got this!
