This location has come along way compared to the way it was before. I’ve been coming here since 2022 and have had better progress and experience than I’ve had with any other facility in my part of Illinois/St. Louis. Although the psychiatric program is horrible and the therapy program would be excellent if you weren’t spending more time getting to know a new therapist every 6 months instead of working on your issues. (so when another job position opens up and pays more these therapist up and leave). For the most part I don’t have anything bad to say about this place my doctor is Kevin Garner and he’s the best primary care Provider that I’ve ever had. He cares and if he can help me with anything he does are points me into the direction I’m supposed to go. I recommend this place for anything from drug addiction to the flu are just getting your meds filled. Just go find a therapist or a psychiatrist somewhere else!!!

I cannot express the gratitude we feel towards all the doctors and nurses who helped my mom feel better. She came in with a high fever and cough a couple of weeks ago, and was quickly diagnosed with flu and pneumonia. After a couple hours in the ER she was moved to a comfortable room. The nurses were so amazing, checking in every hour or so. I was able to voice any concern and they were quick with solutions. They made the almost one week long stay as good as possible. Thank you so very much, may God continue to reward your teams efforts.

My loved one had surgery at Gateway last week, requiring an overnight stay. I will admit, after reading the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about her having surgery here. However, we couldn't have been happier with the treatment we ALL received. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and every effort was made to put our family at ease. Sharon and Linda in the "Same Day Surgery" center were the first medical professionals we encountered. They were patient, informative, and did everything they could to make all of us comfortable. Sharon checked in with us frequently as we waited in the family area, and both she and Linda stopped by to see if we needed anything before their shift ended. They were wonderful and kind at every juncture, and no question went unanswered / no need unaddressed. The attending nurse in the operating room called me to let me know the exact moment that the surgery started, as well as how long they expected it to take. I have never experienced that before. She also called me when the surgery was over, and let me know that my family member was going to recovery. The surgeon came out to let me know how everything went, and I received updates from the PACU nurses while she was coming out of the anesthesia. At one point, I had a question and went to find someone involved with my family member's care. A lady named Bev Anderson stopped what she was doing, asked me if I needed help with something, and she immediately went to her office and called until she found my answer for me. Keep in mind... she was in plain clothes, and had she simply walked past me, I would have never known otherwise. Yet, she chose to interrupt what she was working on to assist our family. We then moved to the 4th floor where Katie and Lynetta were our primary care nurses. They were absolutely incredible, and their commitment to patient care was evident in everything that they did. However, everyone on the 4th floor pitched in to provide a comprehensive system of support, not only for the patients and families, but also for one another. I have NEVER seen people hustle to comfort and care for others like they do. They remained professional and attentive at all times, even in the face of some patients / visitors behaving rudely and inappropriately. The physical therapist was encouraging, took time with my family member, had great conversations with her and at no point did she feel rushed or awkward during her therapy sessions. Overall, I want to thank everyone responsible for our care at Gateway. Being a medical professional (especially in today's world) is NOT easy, and everyone we came in contact with demonstrated pride in their profession, as well as in their workplace. We were very impressed and thankful beyond measure. IF I had to mention some areas for improvement... I would say the physical facilities need some attention. Yes, the building is old, but paint is hanging in strips from the ceilings in the lobby and waiting area, the sheets had some holes in them, and overall the general public areas of the building could have been a bit cleaner. (The patient rooms, hallways, and restrooms seemed very clean.) In addition, the administrative person I contacted (twice) to express our thanks / provide feedback, didn't even bother to call me back! When professionals are working THAT hard to care for others who are sick or in pain, I would hope they'd feel supported by the people in charge of Gateway's community relations. They really deserve to hear kudos for their hard work. Thank you to Sharon, Linda, Katie, Lynetta, Bev, and everyone else whose names I didn't manage to get. What brilliant caregivers, and assets to the medical community, you are.
