I was taken to this hospital via ambulance, without my knowledge, in the middle of a psychotic/manic episode after being in the ER. It was the first time I'd ever experienced this. I was found naked, was taken to the ER, and then I woke up in Gateway Regional Medical Center. Here, I received scheduled meals, and I felt so safe, even though the environment was filled with delusional people, like me. And after staying maybe 2-3 days, I slowly began coming out of my episode and felt more normal. The nurses were wonderful. They remained calm while my episode fizzled out. My doctor, Arif Habib, could have been more compassionate. He said something along the lines of "we are in the psych unit, after all." to me when I was trying to be discharged. That felt a bit hurtful, which didn't help me when I was already disoriented. I'm sure he didn't mean for it to be malicious, though. The communal therapy visits here were wonderful, and the people leading them were very kind. I made friends with my peers here, and I hope that the staff and its residents continue to have a good rapport.

The staff at Gateway behavioral health were really great the charge nurse Mariah and all the other nurses and techs were very kinda and understanding and really made my time there easier than I expected I’m very grateful for care I received there.

While traveling and away from home in our camper van, my husband and I were in a serious accident. Our camper van had tipped over onto the driver’s side and we were pinned in the vehicle along with our small dog. After emergency crews were able to cut us out through the windshield, we went via ambulance to the ER at Gateway Regional Medical Center for treatment and X-rays and later discharged. We had planned to camp for the night, however, not knowing anyone in the area, and with our camper totaled, the attending physicians, staff and eventually the local security staff that evening, were most compassionate and supportive helping us figure out options where to go and what to do next. You all were definitely our “Angels unaware” that evening. Thank you.

This place was all about helping others get to the starting point in your life to see there is life out there without drugs if you want it that bad you can have it . Even though I left there and I relapsed 4 years ago that was my choice that I made because I wasn't ready then . Now I'm thriving ,sober ,have my kids back in my life ,and a new baby girl . This place made a big impact on my life that's why I'm writing this review 4 years later after I left. Some of the staffs inspiring stories and words is what got me to where I am today and I'm very thankful for that. Recovery will only work if u let it and it's hard work but yout have to put in the work to get in life you want to go . Don't give up . I would be lieing if I said recovery is easy but one day u will wake up and realize it gets easier u just got to.want it and put 100% in to get it

Although I have not personally needed their services, I have acquaintances who were very fortunate to have been helped by ARCA. I was also lucky enough to have been invited to the premiere of the movie Antagonist. Absolutely life saving . This is an amazing program ,with amazing people helping rebuild lives from the ground up . I was homeless while pregnant and addicted to shooting drugs . At 5 months pregnant my heart failed and I was rushed to st. Louis, Missouri, all alone ,pregnant and about to die. Due to my condition that I had created via my addiction . I underwent Open heart surgery .I survived 2 months later in the hospital, no one was waiting for me after my discharge from hospital. I was homeless in a city unknown to me and due to have a baby in a few months .Queen of Peace took me in, and was waiting for me when I got there even paid for me an Uber from hospital to cathedral towers. I have God to thank for giving me Queen of Peace . Thank you .

I love this place, because it helps me love myself. get to know myself. it's really a growing spot people can really grow here( spiritually , mentally and physically) when you're on drugs you know you stuck! now you lie to yourself and you don't even know it. you know they help me recognize my lies in me. the way you think backwards sometimes you know; I used to think they were good and I like them in the matter is that are not good for me and they never had been. it' s taken relationship my friends my kids . They teach me how to gain my dignity back my respect for me and others. how I can be balanced I'm learning not to drink from my lower self but my higher self as like what would your God. It's about being a better person that I was contagious for and keep that going and growing.

So glad this clinic moved here last year. It is less than a mile from my apartment. Steen group of employees, but efficient in their duties. If you make them laugh, they really loosen up. Just don’t grab at any candy on the counter within reach. They laugh, but it is an evil laugh, like your hand was theirs for desert. Like them all.

I used to be depressed and suicidal, but now I'm only a little depressed and not suicidal at all. Tysm ilysm. And I hope you still have that picture of you. I'm crying rn if you actually respond. 🥰🥰🥰 I really want to go back even though I'm all better. If you have any suicidal thoughts go see a counselor, or go to mercy/ hospital but only if you don't feel safe at home. Don't make suicide into a joke. It's a serious thing. SSM Rehabilitation Hospital has to be the BEST CHOICE for PT and OT in the St. Louis area. I cannot imagine any other facility would be as thorough, caring, and determined to get me back to 'normal' after my surgery and hospital stay. I have to name the EXCELLENT staff by name as the TRUE heroes need to be recognized. First, the outstanding nursing staff; Winnie, Elham, Lem Lem, Krystal, and Shayla (Shay). They were very attentive and never ONCE made me feel that I was 'bothering' them even when I needed them at midnight or noon. The techs that went beyond the call of duty and must be named are Lyn - who was always friendly and smiling. This can make a person's day when spending multiple days in a facility. Also, Lea and An'drea were cheerful and attentive. These employees seem to truly LOVE what they do! Thanks to all them! Thanks to SSM Rehab Hospital for hiring people who really CARE about your patients! Physical Therapy Staff I need to recognize are Megan who was my primary therapist. She was so supportive, understanding, and encouraging. She knew exactly what I needed and 'PUSHED' me to go further and do more than I thought I could! Jeremy and Candace stand out as techs who were there when they were needed and went beyond the call of duty to serve their patients. I will never forget their kindness. The entire staff was so supportive! Amy, my case manager, was very helpful and set up everything for my return home. She was there to keep me informed. At the time of my illness, Amy was working alone as they were short handed in the Case Management department. She was managing everyone on the floor. I'm going to guess there were almost 50 people at that time on the floor. Her management and people skills shone through at a time when it had to be stressful!

My son was admitted to the hospital and from the moment he walked through the emergency room doors till time of discharge he had excellent care. The doctors and nurses were kind and compassionate and provided support to us family members. I was brought in on August 31 for acute heart failure! I chose to come to St Claire this hospital is absolutely the best from the nurses to the doctors. And I found a wonderful Cardiologist who took excellent care of me and who is my doctor now The nurses are the very best except for one assistant that was not very friendly and was rude and had an attitude Shauna told the nurses and they took care of it! Overall this place gets an A+ from me! Thank you so much St Claire! Food was excellent as well!
