Sober Living Homes

Living in a sober living home in Illinois is a lot like living in a traditional home. Everyone must contribute to household chores and maintenance. All residents must work and pay rent. Individuals can mostly come and go as they please, but they must be home before curfew. Most men’s and women’s sober living homes also host house meetings where they resolve disputes, assign responsibilities, and welcome new residents.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

12-Step

Participants in 12 step programs focus on emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth as the foundation for long-term sobriety. They engage in regular 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and accessible day and night, year-round, in most communities. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring from a self-selected sponsor. Though the 12 steps of recovery are based on spiritual principles, religious affiliation isn’t required.
