I've been going since January and have had a great experience with the people and the clinic as a whole. My 1st day (intake) wasn't a painful drawn out process. They were All professional and on point with each level of the appointment and best of all I got to dose and got take home doses for the weekend the very next day when I came back for my second dose. It’s not easy to get to this location on public transportation. However the extended hours make it more convenient than most states that close doors by 11am.
The fact that this clinic uses mouth swabs to test ending the humiliating practice of observed UAs is what sets this clinic above the rest.
If you do what you need to raise your privilege level to take home 2weeks to 30 days you won’t have to deal with the wait and chaos of others.

SECURITY NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED
July 4th Update: security has improved drastically. Feels safer. Much better place to be. Thank you all who had a hand in fixing that issue when brought to the light.
This place helped SAVE MY LIFE. I showed up one day, joking ..is never get sober....I am standing here ...proof that if you do the work ..change is possible...I wouldn't have been able to do it without my father (R.I.P) MY AMAZING COUNSELOR OLIVIA.... I AM VIETNAM COMBAT VETERAN. THE VA HAD NO ROOMS SO I HAD TO CHOOSE FROM 4 HOSPITALS. SO HAD PREVIOUSLY TAKEN MY WIFE WHO HAS MS TO ST. JOSEPH'S AND WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE WAY SHE CARED FOR. This location has come along way compared to the way it was before. I’ve been coming here since 2022 and have had better progress and experience than I’ve had with any other facility in my part of Illinois/St. Louis. Although the psychiatric program is horrible and the therapy program would be excellent if you weren’t spending more time getting to know a new therapist every 6 months instead of working on your issues. (so when another job position opens up and pays more these therapist up and leave). For the most part I don’t have anything bad to say about this place my doctor is Kevin Garner and he’s the best primary care Provider that I’ve ever had. He cares and if he can help me with anything he does are points me into the direction I’m supposed to go. I recommend this place for anything from drug addiction to the flu are just getting your meds filled. Just go find a therapist or a psychiatrist somewhere else!!!

I took my sobriety serious and the tools chestnut provided . I appreciate them I am now 5years going on 6 sober. I am also going to college for substance abuse counseling. I used to be depressed and suicidal, but now I'm only a little depressed and not suicidal at all. Tysm ilysm. And I hope you still have that picture of you. If you have any suicidal thoughts go see a counselor, or go to mercy/ hospital but only if you don't feel safe at home. Don't make suicide into a joke. It's a serious thing. My husband was hospitalized with a UTI after a very compassionate yet professional female ER doctor explained the reasons staying would be beneficial. He spent 6days on 5N and EVERY nurse who cared for him did so as if he were a family member. The doctors who treated Tom communicated with me both in person and by telephone.

This place was all about helping others get to the starting point in your life to see there is life out there without drugs if you want it that bad you can have it . Even though I left there and I relapsed 4 years ago that was my choice that I made because I wasn't ready then . Now I'm thriving ,sober ,have my kids back in my life ,and a new baby girl . This place made a big impact on my life that's why I'm writing this review 4 years later after I left. Some of the staffs inspiring stories and words is what got me to where I am today and I'm very thankful for that. Recovery will only work if u let it and it's hard work but yout have to put in the work to get in life you want to go . Don't give up . I would be lieing if I said recovery is easy but one day u will wake up and realize it gets easier u just got to.want it and put 100% in to get it

JUST DO IT!!
This facility was absolutely wonderful. Everything was nice and clean. Well maintained and all the amenities, included. It was never a problem to use the laundry room. Wash whatever needed to be washed you could take a shower whenever you felt necessary. Food and snacks galore. By the way, the food was pretty good, but they had movies games. You go to the gym every morning. Just everything you need to get in practice of living a healthy life
And the staff is just amazing. If you have an open mind an open heart and you are ready and willing to change your life. These are the people that will help you do it it is not just a job to them them. They have lived it or lived with it in one fashion or another and they understand. they have compassion and empathy and they really want to see you succeed. The resources they have access to are amazing They will help you find a safe place to go if necessary after your treatment. there's just so much they will help you with but let me make it clear they will help you. They will not do it for you. You will have to do the leg work but they will help you. If it's out there they will help you or find someone who will help you get what you need. A lot of them spend their own time and money to make the experience More enjoyable and to take the edge off the seriousness sometimes. Far above and beyond what they have to do for sure. Just exceptional people
I can say I did not have one bad experience.
Some days I loved it. Some days I didn't want to be there but everyday I learned something whether I realized or not and sometimes it took a while to accept the truth but they were always there to talk to help to cheer you up. I laughed more than I have in years when you're in a room with people who have all been there, done that and you start telling stories. You just can't help but laugh sometimes the stupid things we do as addicts but you realize you're not alone and the past is the past tomorrow is a new day and it'll all be okay just take it one day at a time .
There are so many people who made a difference in my life that I will never forget I can't possibly mention everyone by name but I would like to say thank you to all of you at Chestnut I would not be sitting here today with 3 months sober without you!

Dr. Shiue is an amazing physician, she was my son's pedestrian, I remember him getting sick and i would call and she would always see him I know she worked through lunch and stayed late as well. He was 21 and no longer technically her patient but had not seen an adult Phyician and was going to be over a week to get in, I called the office with my concerns, they spoke with her and she saw him through her lunch break, Dr. Shiue also called the adult Doctor and got him in the next day, turned out he had a really bad case of pneumonia. Dr. Shiue also gave me her private cell number to call her if I needed anything. She is totally an amazing person as well as a physician, she really cares about her patients and the parents as well, she has called me after hours to follow up on my son. It was very hard to move on to an adult physician. I can not say enough about the staff and her. My son is now grown and is expecting a little one of his own and of course Dr. Shiue will be her Doctor. I trusted her with my son and now my Granddaughter 100 %. Dr. Shiue is one in a million and can't say how happy I am she will be seeing my Granddaughter

They got my granddaughter in very quick. They accessed her bug bite, and it's nothing to worry about. While checking her out, the doctor noticed her throat looked like possible step throat, but luckily, it wasn't. The patient and her sister got Popsicles, which they loved, and a sticker on the way out.

We were seen quickly last night. I had an adverse reaction to a medication. I can't say enough good things about the staff at this ER!! Gabrielle was friendly! Miranda, my nurse, was compassionate and kind! Dawn was wise and wonderful! Dr. Shankar even stopped in before we left to double check that we were in agreement with my treatment plan, moving forward. I was very impressed by him, also! They gave me excellent care! SO I CHOSE TO GO TO ST. JOSEPH'S I HAD SERIOUS LEG INFECTION THAT DID NOT ALLOW ME TO WALK. THEY OPERATED ON ME QUIKLY AND I WAS WALKING IN A WEEK. THIS HOSPITAL IS AWESOME 👌

Great specialty hospital with great CNA’s like Vita Williams!. The Case Manager’s could show more empathy and not have you make last minute decisions without being prepared. But overall the hospital staff seem overworked

This place is wonderful. My 15 yr old son has been troubled for a long time. He has been so abusive to my youngest son that I couldn't leave him alone with him anymore. I called this place for help and they literally got him in the very next day. The staff have been wonderful to me and my son. The only thing I dont like is that it is only a 30 day program. I really wish it was longer. I think they could help alot more if they had the time. But 30 days will give you time to work on another place for them.

Went to the ER for an eye injury and I was traveling from out of town. The ER was very quick to see me and Dr. Mendelsohn was caring and went out of his way to have me transferred to be seen by an ophthalmologist at another hospital to make sure it wasn’t something more severe. I appreciate the compassion and care I received from everyone on staff that night, nurses included!

I love this hospital. I refuse to go anywhere else to have my babies. I had a difficult pregnancy the last go around and they took very good care of us. After birthing him I had to stay a extra week because I had a stone go through my liver. I was in extreme pain, they took care of me right away. Didn't even hesitate and then afterwards was all over trying to figure out what the problem was. Every nurse, every doctor, every patient transport person I encountered was nothing short of amazing. The hospitality was great, people were friendly, very knowledgeable professionals, bedside manners were outstanding, and just great care overall. I refuse to go to any other hospital, it has to be either a Barnes hospital or I'll rather suffer.
